Need a little help here. Anyone know the meaning of the terms, direkte punkte and vermeidbare fehler? Are these winners and unforced errors?

Babblefish translates as "direct scores" and "avoidable errors."

Your translation is correct. Direkte punkte - if you were to only look at the words translates to direct points.

The same with vermeidbare fehler - the actual words mean avoidable mistake.

But you are correct, winner and unforced error.

So direct points basically has the meaning of a point won without an opponent's error (forced or unforced) being involved?

Unforced errors were for a long time translated in German as 'leichte Fehler' = easy errors, which was absurd, because they were in fact grave errors. Now they are translated as 'vermeidbare Fehler'.
