Stebe,Tomic,Dimitrov,Raonic,Harrison,Nishikori

Discussion in 'General Pro Player Discussion' started by MurrayMyInspiration, Apr 24, 2012.

  1. Who is gonna be the best.....I see Stebe as a serious threat. He has a solid forehand, serve and can volley....very good backhand. Solid movement. Im really disappointed with Dimitrov. He seems to lack the passion to grind out victories in tournies like Bucharest this week. What are your opinions on these guys and who do you think has the most potential to improve????

Nishikori in terms of career wise so far and he has much more potential of winning one of the bigger titles such as a masters.

grigor dimitrov and ryan harrison will most likely win a title on grass or hard court sometime within the remainder of this year.

raonic is just cruising at the moment and is just trying to get up to the next level of top 20

  4. But, Raonic is maxing out his serve now and forehand is impoving, backhand will get better but don't you think the game has now leaned towards players with great movement and a solid all around game. i.e Murray, Djokovic, Nadal, Federer...

is the question who's gonna be the best? Or who has the most chance to improve?

    Best:
    Raonic

    followed by:
    Tomic
    Harrison
    Nishikori
    Dimitrov
    Stebe
    in that order

    Best Chance to improve:
    Harrison

The ATP wants Raonic to succeed.Every time he wins a match he gets on the home page of the ATP site. They see him as the player they would like to succeed..gives great interviews, has great court demeanor and a huge game...and he admits he is learning something with every match..and he has 3 titles under his belt at age 21. And Nadal has touted him as a top 10 player and no one is anxious to play him because of his big, accurate, serve.

He is the one to watch...and he's currently #25...

    Not an American:

I think Harrison is by far the most talented of these guys. He reminds me of Federer (with a two hander) far more than Dmitrov does. He needs to lose weight though.

Tomic is slow and has a bad serve, he'll top out at 15 in the world, Raonic will be top 10, but surfaces are just too slow for a guy whose game depends on aces to win a slam.

Nishikori and Harrison are too short in a game that moves in the direction of huge servers. Top players are getting taller.

Raonic has the best prospects followed by Tomic.

Dimtrov keeps disappointing a bit. He has smooth strokes but doesn't have Federer's agility and power, particularly on the serve. Still, unless something goes terribly wrong he should be a top ten player but not a super star.

Raonic supersonic will win Wimby next besides the top five. Hey, Raon, let me string for you and you will win it. I'd bump you up to where you still have all that power, yet, control increases.

Nishikori is just another Ferrer with same body condition.Tomic may have a chance at Wimby.Harry should improve his ground strokes.

I can't see any one being included in the GOAT discussion from that group. I guess it's right that we shouldn't get a GOAT contender in every generation which seems to be the case so far.

I agree with this list almost 100%. However, I'd put Harrison and Nishikori above Tomic. I think Tomic is a top 20 player at best - I see Harrison and Nishikori as Top 10 players. I see Raonic with the ability to be a Top 5 player...if not #1 someday.

Raonic for me... but still these youngsters a million years behind top guys ...

  20. Yeah good point....Djokovic and Murray and Nadal and Federer all had solid games at that stage....Forehand,backhand,movement.....I feel its not who is the best now but who has the most room to improve that will be the best. Look at djokovic....all around solid game when he was 20. Then increased everything by 5% and became superhuman. Raonic has backhand/movement problems. Harrison has backhand problems. I say this guy Stebe can go far. He has a lot of talents and never really focused on tennis early in his life. He has a down to earth attitude and has all the shots but he can still improve them all by 5-10%.....Have you seen much of him yet?

  21. So who will be world number 1....Do we have to wait until some 16 year old from somewhere comes up out of nowhere and is world class, while Murray, Djok, Fed, nadal stay top 5 for a few years and keep the no.1 seat warm for him?

When Djokovic and Murray ended up 2006 as #16 and #17 respectively I was sure that they are going to be top players. They were 19 yo. When I look at this new generation I see nothing ... yes, Stebe is an interesting player (I did see few of his matches), Raonic has a decent game (great serve), Tomic is Tomic (spoiled brat, lol... never won any tournaments in his life) ... but again they are nowhere even close to the top guys ... I do like Harrison too... but the problem is there are too many holes in their game .... the top 4 will simply eat them alive ... To be honest with you, I'm so disappointed with these youngsters ... nobody seems to be able to step up. Djokovic and Murray were able to beat Roger and Nadal when they were 19/20 yo ...

well, at least Raonic did win 3 small ATP tournaments ... still they are miles away from where Djokovic and Murry were at their age ...

I like to watch Dimitrov, pretty game, nice movement, good foot work, but again ... he is not getting anywhere either ...I hate to be so pessimistic but it is what it is ... soon or later someone will show up.
