stencil color

OK, in a nutshell, I want to hand stencil the old HEAD logo (not the modern fatter one) onto my racquet, but my hybrid(s) is/are going to make life tough with their colors. I will have black in the crosses always, and either a natural color or the yellowish color of kevlar in the mains. I am thinking (in order of how I think would work best to least best) silver, red, or white. i doubt black would even be an option, unless someone can show me a cool pic of it working with a setup like mine. no poll, just please give your opinion on what you think would be best. btw, all my racquets essentially have any of the stencil paint colors in the paintjob except my PT280

Silver and white won't show up well against the natural/yellow-ish strings

Personally, I don't understand why one would stencil strings unless being sponsored...or doing something fun like a smiley face. It's like letting a car dealership put its logo on YOUR new car! Happy to let them for a hefty advertising fee, otherwise no way.

I was stringing for a client and he uses a black poly in the mains with an NXT in the cross (which NXT is natural or a white color) and I put black ink in his head stencil and it turned out fine. Don't know if it will work with your's being opposite and all but I would give it a try.:)

If I used a black sharpie over the black syn gut (that I would use in the crosses), would that be an accurate depiction of how black stencil ink would also look on the black strings?

I have to agree here. I wouldn't waste the time to stencil after a string job. If I could, I'd play with a blacked out, black grip, black string racquet. Stealth mode, KITT.
To the OP, if you must, I'd have to vote for red.

TheLambsheadrep,

Yes it would but you will never tell what it looks like on the natural strings though. I'm not sure if you would see the ink on the black strings that well, but when you make a black stencil on the white or natural strings it should show. All I know is that when I did this for my client, it looked pretty good I think and he was very happy with it too.:):)

P.S When I did this, I was at first going to use a white ink thinking that it would look good with the black strings but that was the complete opposite. Black ink does look better.

that's what im saying, though. I know the black sharpie/stencil ink will show up on white or natural strings, but idk if they would on the black strings (outside of your experience). That's why I asked if a black sharpy would accurately depict how black stencil ink would look on black strings, I'm not worried about black sharpie/stencil ink on any color of string except black.

Has anyone tried Wilson Super Ink? it's supposed to be the best stencil ink, I'm also reading in on the Pilot Super Color markers.

Has anyone used stencil ink and found a decrease in spin afterwards, or a change in any other characteristic of the string bed?

i think your arm would have to be really sensitive to notice a change in spin due to stencil ink.. i personally wouldn't be able tell.

Wouldn't or Haven't, though? I've read a few times on other threads that people don't feel the same bite on the ball. Now, I don't know if that's psychological or just a very small percent of people that stencil, but if it does change string characteristics, then there's no need for me to do it (not that there's a real need to do it as it is haha)

lol what if i told you it does make a difference, and the weight of the ink throws the balance off as well, so you can save all the trouble of figuring out which ink and what colour?

you could, but idk if that's as feasible as a coating of paint making the string surface smooth preventing bite on the ball :p . Pros obviously don't have a problem with it, so any of the "what ifs" really should be invalid. I just really love the old Head logo, before it became obese like the rest of the country haha jk. But if it just becomes a pain, I won't lose sleep over it
