I find some of the victory dances to be really distasteful.

    Kubot's "French can-can"
    Ivo's "slap that ***"
    Tsonga's little ditty
    Petkovic's booty shake....

    I'm sure there are more.

i'd rather see them dance than watch the obligatory pageant wave/blowing fake kisses to the crowd that seems to happen after every match these days. i hate that.

Dr ivo's spanking was epic. Most are pretty good. Let those players have their trademark.

what could you possibly have against petkovic shakin' her booty!!! i say if she wants to shake it, you shut up and watch it! and if you don't wanna watch it, you give your seat to someone who does!

i don't care to watch the guys, but i say we mandate victory dances in the wta (up to a certain weight class, of course!)

Why should they stop? It's the age of anonymous internet posting. Everything "annoys" everyone. If I were a player, I wouldn't much care.

Hey jdubbs: Homophobia isn't cool. Grow up.

In the mean time, if someone wants to celebrate a victory, let them. Who cares? Obviously we wouldn't want to see Clijsters doing a booty shake at every winner she hits (or would we? lol), nor would we want to see Nadal setting fire to things when he wins a 2r match, but seeing a bit of exuberance from these amazing players is always cool in my books.

-What about Petr Korda's scossor kick?

I like Tsonga's little victory dance, its my avatar.

IMHO - you win a professional match, you have the right to do a little dance. At least it's something unique and reflects the player's personality.

It's better than all that flopping to the ground that you see in tournament finals - come with something original.

What I hate is the way players make a first round win look like they've won the bloody tournament. Save the celebration for something important. However, I think the little wave-to-the-fans thing has been encouraged (if not required) by the ATP and WTA; it looks forced to me, as if the players were told that the fans would be outraged if the winner doesn't acknowledge them.

Probably doesn't feel good to watch the dance if you are on the losing side. I wouldn't like my opponent doing it.

Haha, the OP must be a barrel full of fun. How anyone could have anything against Karlovic's awesome celebration is beyond me.

Interesting that Petkovic is getting so much love here. I never really considered her anything above average in terms of looks.

I'd like to see Nadal jump over net and sprain ankle after miscounting sets so he has to lose by default

seriously, though, they are literally playing for their lives out there (well, their living anyway), they have a right to celebrate victories.

    Well, most do anyway.

This WAS important to him. It's the first time he's ever beaten a seeded player in a Grand Slam. (His GS record is mostly first-round exits or exits in qualifying. Even a single win in a GS is important - it's not something he gets every year! And I bet you can count on your fingers the number of times he's beaten top-20 players. So that's a big deal too.)

jeeez how old and/or uptight are people on these forums?

I hardly even call any of these celebrations. Tsonga jumps up a little pointing to himself.

    so what....

I hope none of you watch the NBA. or NFL. or 80% of sports where people show emotion.

Most people on these boards have no idea what kind of pressure is on these guys and how much relief earning the big W give you. I think players can do what they want as long as its not excessive

It's still better than football (soccer to you Americans). I remember this one match where a player performed the missionary position after scoring (I now see its relevance).

Wonder what'll happen if there were more Kiwis in tennis...imagine a tennis player doing the haka lmao
