What string was Sergei using to make history today ?
he is using firestrom, as well as Youzhny
It looks good from TW reviews. Worth trying out ?
You guys know that for 99.9% of us, changing to this string will not make us play any better.
Are you sure he doesn't have some natural gut in his hybrid? Because his feel and touch on drop volleys at the net was sublime.
YES, his site saids he uses hybrid with natural gut. most likely babolat
TW review states that it is a very powerful poly with great ball pocketing
"I play with half natural gut and half synthetic. These strings are perfectly developed for hard and fast hitters (that is for me)".
This is from his official website. Also you can ask him anything you want and he will answer you, personally.
OMG!... if you find out and string your racquet with it YOU WILL PLAY JUST LIKE HIM and we will see YOU beat Fed next year at Wimbledon... although probably in the first round .
Stakhovsky's setup is Signum Pro Gut mains 26.5kg / Firestorm crosses 25.5kg. No Babolat.
he saids in his website, it is natural gut in main. Signum makes natural gut ?
Opinion posted by our forum member, fgs.
last summer i played the hybrid supplied by tennis-magazin (germany) as a blindtest. the mains have been the firestorm 1.25 and the crosses this gut in 1.30mm
in spite of having been a plain round poly the combo scored rather high in my books. i had to play it as delivered and requested, with the gut in the crosses - so don't ask me for the reason behind this matter.
also, since i have not played the firestorm by itself until then, it is difficult for me to tell them apart, but the combo scored pretty nice:
power level was rather good for a poly based hybrid, scoring at 8/10. control was really in the top echelon, scoring 9/10. feel was 8/10 - the combo played a little bit stiff in my opinion, and it is difficult for me to tell if the reason behind this is the mains or if the gut is rather on the stiffer side. spin was not impressive but still average, so i noted 7/10. in spite of being rather stiff it was quite comfy, in the sense that even offcenter shots were not jarring and i never got any shoulder issues with it. so comfort was 9/10 and tension maintenance was really good, again 9/10. maybe the most impressive thing was that the combo lasted me about 8 hitting hours - the crosses broke first, but the mains have also been pretty heavily notched by that time, i would not have expected them to last another 30 minutes.
i wished i could have played it also with the gut in the mains, but this was not possible.
sigmun gut/extreme power
strung at approx 27/26
Do you like that string Firestorm by Signum ? TW sure seem to like in their review of the string.
Yes Signum Pro has Premium Gut and Cross Gut, both available in Europe. I have a set with me, it does not look like VS.
How does signum firestorm compare to the signum pro poly plasma...was it made more comfortable or changed for tension purposes?
Firestorm is supposed to be really powerful.
The string setup was Signum Pro Natural Gut on the mains and Firestorm on the crosses. The tension was 26/25 kg. I was the stringer.
This has to be really powerful hybrid setup. Firestorm is one of more powerful polys out there and he added natural gut to boot. must be great volleying setup
Thought it was Poly Plasma
Nostra, you are the biggest clown ever, I mean, Fedace no wonder why you got kicked out of this forum, your posts are utter rubbish, irrelevant content.
Youzhny also uses firestorm in hybrid with gut (although he does firestorm in the mains + cross gut in the crosses). I almost bought firestorm for my extreme pro 2.0 but decided to go to BBO for now. Might try out firestorm after the BBO goes.
Its like that old saying, "A Fedace never changes his spots..."
