    Francis27,

Strings start losing tension the minute you or your stringer clamps off. There are various strategies for mitigating this, from pre-stretching to the Jet method (which, for polys, discourages traditional pre-stretching in favor of lower tensions and slower pulls).

RPM Blast, like all poly-based strings, loses its fair share of tension. Fans of RPM see this as a small tradeoff in light of its impressive performance qualities.

Regarding the tension loss difference between RPM and Team, our TWU lab tests indicate that Team holds tension better. I can't promise you'll notice this on court (which is why your on court experience is the master variable).

RPM Team is injected with mircro air bubbles, which is supposed to make it softer. Our lab tests indicate that it's actually stiffer. Keep in mind that once you start playing with all these strings, you will develop your own unique set of preferences. Once you know what kind of string you like, it will be easier to make suggestions.

    Hope this helps,
    Jon

    Hi Francis27,

Pre-stretching will often make something play slightly firmer off the stringer and decrease the initial tension loss. You'll have to judge for yourself if you like - or even notice the changes in - feel.

Polys are not pre-stretched as commonly as other materials. Some players have reported that pre-stretching polys actually increases tension loss and compromises the already low elasticity. In response to this, the folks at L-Tec recommend that you use slow pulls (among other things) to help with tension consistency. In our TWU lab tests, pre-stretched polys actually had less initial tension loss, but this leaves open what happens after multiple hours of hard hitting. We just completed a playtest on Lux Alu Power. The player who pre-stretched it actually reported most favorably on the string. The best way to approach this stuff is to start experimenting for yourself. What feels best to you will trump everything else.

    Hope this helps,
    Jon
