StringMeter Vs Calibrator

I have a Gamma 5003 6 point stringing machine. I have calibrated it correctly to my knowledge. I used the calibrator where you put it on the machine and pull tension to verify. It pulls exactly what I have set on the machine. However, after stringing the racket, I measure the tension on the racket using the stringMeter(round dial instrument) and it reads 7 or 8 pounds tighter than what I strung at. I even set the stringmeter at the correct string gauge. Has anyone experienced this?

The stringmeter will not give you the exact reference tension that you used on the machine. It is very hard for any device to tell you what the reference tension was. But they can measure dynamic tension, stringbed stiffness, etc. If machines is calibrated, you are fine.

Trust the calibrator. It is designed to measure your reference. The Stringmeter is not designed to give accurate tension measurements. It is used to track relative tension loss over the life of the stringbed. It is a relatively inaccurate tool, but should have the repeatability necessary to track relative tension loss.
