Middle toe. Probably broke it. I figure there's no point in going to the doctor. Any suggestions about what I should do?

A fractured toe is pretty common and easy to fix yourself. Having said that, usually it is the 5th toe (since it is on the outside and vulnerable to catching or bashing into something). The middle toe seems odd unless it is a crush injury (something happening to fall on it). If it is a crush injury I would not treat it myself and would have it looked at.

Finally went to the doctor. X-rayed: 2 tiny transverse fractures. Ortho (also a tennis player) said OK to play tennis on it. Just tape bad toe to next toe. Been OK on court so far.

Yes that is the standard treatment I alluded to. Your Junior Orthopod merit badge is in the mail...
