Hewitt popularized the yelling of Come on. Some yell Allaiz or Vamos. But are there any good English substitute yells for Come on which isn't very original.

    I've heard "Lets GO."

    "Bring it on baby."

Come on is great though and it just rolls off your tongue when you need to vent some pent up intensity.

If someone yelled that, I'd do everything in my power to hit them in the chest with a ball the next few games.

    Agreed.

We have some women at our club who yell that, mostly from the stands...even on unforced errors from visiting teams...

I was at the Oregon Challenger a few weeks ago, and it sounded like a couple of players shouted "MINE!" after hitting winners.

Personally, I favor "suck it, Monkeys"!

How about keep your mouth shut and just play the game. Show respect to the game. No one likes the person they are playing to say anything when they win a point.

No, saying stupid crap directly to an opponent is BUSH league. Sending a message to such an opponent is a bit like hitting an opposing batter after the other team's pitcher has plunked one of yours.

Do I make a habit of targeting people? Nope, but if an opponent told me to "Bring it on, baby," I'd shrug my shoulders and indulge him in his wish.

Personally I like Mekka Lekka Hi-Mekka Hiney Ho

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-LLCpM27WE

    makes everyone smile

    Mekka-lekka-hi, Mekka-hiney-ho
This magic phrase was popularized by the children’s television series Pee-Wee’s Playhouse (1986): “One of Pee-wee’s visiting pals to pop into the Playhouse was in the form of a genie—a disembodied, turban-topped talking head named Jambi. Always a jokester, Jambi swiveled his head and worked his magic much to Pee-wee’s rapture; he granted wishes if Pee-wee chanted along with him (‘mecca-lecka-hi, mecca-hiney-ho’)” (Stephen Cox, Dreaming of Jeannie, 2000).

A friend of mine likes saying: "That's my game.", on opponent's UE. Especially when playing his sporty competittive daughter. Sound's very finny to spectators and a bit enerving to opponents.

I heard something really funny that was told to me by a friend at districts this year. Every time a guy would hit a winner he we say "All day baby, all day!" That just totally cracked me up.

Having a hard time thinking of anything acceptable other than "Let's go" and "Come on." I do recall some college tennis friends looking back with embarrassment at some of the things they used to yell as juniors. "That's the way!" "Fire it up!" "YUP!"

On the other hand, I'll accept anything to fire yourself up as long as only you can hear it. My go-to is "Right here."

I actually have to chuckle at people who are a little over zealous. It's a point. Act like you've done it before. I have always liked pro players of any sport, like Barry Sanders, who are awesome but don't have to celebrate it.

I try not to get to loud but I do have a couple of things I say .... usually quietly to my myself or my partner in mixed

Wiggle it, just a little bit .... (sung to my mixed partner when she makes a good play)

911 don't work in this town .... (to remind my self to move my feet and bend my knees)

I have other tunes that randomly come to mind but I cannot recall them at this moment

    ^^^^^this

I find this irritating and sort of like "rubbing your face in it".
I always play better after an opponent yells something like that,
so I hope they keep doing it.

I can do this all day.
    You can't HANDLE the truth.
That should have been on tv.
    Yeah, that's right, I'm bad.

Actually when I hit a good shot to win the point, I say nothing because that's what I was trying to do.

I'm more likely to say something to myself when I lose the point on an unforced error, but that's a whole 'nother thread.

    Seriously. Who are these people?

Does Fed do a lot of shouting? Or does he act like he expects to win?

I watched Del Potro play two tough matches this weekend. Never said a word. Class act.

I don't mind when the pro's get a little pumped up, but i always thought rusty was obnoxious.

as far as league tennis, everyone now and then it's fine too.

most of us know where the "line" is on these sorta things. the others will never really figure it out, no worries.

If I hit a great shot in a tense moment in a match, I will occasionly yell, "Yeah!". I don't do it very often, and if I do, then I try to keep my voice down so my opponent doesn't here it. It's the same principle as what I do with a fist pump. I usually turn my back and walk away so once again my opponent doesn't see it. The gestures you make should be just for you, so if you go out of your way to show them to your opponent, then that is just disrespectful and you are just trying to rile them up.

Very good, old chap. I sometimes use a variant of this:
"Now is the winter of your discontent -- neener, neener, neener!"

    Other favorite tennis exclamations:
    Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ
    Sweet zombie Jesus
    Great googly moogly
    Holy batshit, Robin
    Hip, hip, hooray
    Holy guacamole
    Yowzah
    Huzzah

Quite often, however, I'll just stick out my tongue or thumb my nose.

A couple of years ago I was playing dubs against a guy who would say "That's my break and butter !" when he hit a good volley. After he missed a few, my partner said "Dude, you're gonna starve..."

I sometimes say "Oh Yeah!" A
after a winner... More to pump myself up & to tell my mind/body that was the way to do it then to belittle/challenge my opponent. Ok... Maybe a little bit of self promotion ;-)
