Not sure if anyone seen the interview with Roger after his match with Goffin. Goffin told the fans he had a poster of Roger and that he idolised Roger. At the end of the interview Roger hugged Goffin like a little brother and stroked his hair, refreshing to see such superstars stay so grounded.
Hug between Federer and Goffin after interviews/speeches (4R match!) then Rog pats David on the head and ruffles his hair.

I get a feeling Goffin would have done the same if he would've won.

It was, hope Federer continues to play for a couple of years. This match up reminded me of the Kim Clijsters - Steffi Graf match in 1999, where another Belgian played and lost against her idol.

As soon as I find it, I will put it here. It was a special oncourt interview, because of the story behind the match, a boy playing his big idol.

Yeah the interview was cool. It said on internet that David Goffin didn't dare to speak to Roger, because he was so in awe of his idol. Roger heard about that. Very considerate of the French to do this set up after the match. Goffin must have had the time of his life.

Goffin should wear the fed polo. He wore it during his first and second round of RG.

I doubt things would have been so cordial good natured and staged had Goffin pulled the upset.

Goffin did well, must be an awesome feeling to play your idol and take the first set and push him hard in the second.

Magnus? He would be too busy setting up a vantage point on some building adjacent to Nadal's hotel.

i thought it was a cool moment. how often do you see someone go up against his idol? usually, by the time you make it to 'the show' (if you make it to 'the show'), your idol is retired and kickin' his feet up on a beach somewhere with a frosty drink in his hand.

goffin didn't shrink in the limelight. he played well out there today. really well.

How on earth would someone get Federer's naked posters? I'd like to know.

Or wait, on second thought I don't want to know.

i dunno, delpo was always very respectful towards Federer and roger was very gracious when he lost at the US Open, and that was a final and one he was very much expected to win, unlike the french open which roger must know is the slam he has least chance in

that was a final and both players -- winner and loser get interviewed. I am simply saying that if he had lost he would have been off the court in less than 2 minutes and no interview. the french are very informal with these interviews after matches. I saw them grab gasquet for an interview literally 30 seconds after he beat someone. He didn't even have time to towel off.

“He sort of idolized me back in the day, I think,” Federer said of Goffin after the match. “I don’t know after today.”

Most of the times when another sport personality is in Federer box it was related to some common sponsorship deal. Wonder which company is the common factor now? Gillette again??
