Lol, you seem to be foaming at the mouth at the thought of Federer losing. It's basel for crying out loud

Actually I'd like Delpo to somehow win this. For him that would be big. For everyone else it's "meh" Maybe even Roger who's FROM Basel.I mean he's won it enough now.

Is he even in the draw? I thought he was playing Valencia instead; that's where he was last year.

He's the second seed now that Murray has pulled out.

Delpo no prayer. Rog will win due to recent tournament announcements. All calls will be announced only in the secret Swiss language by a Swiss ref:

official ball kids uniforms have been chosen:

and only Swiss vuvuzelas will be permitted:

I think Feds will win his home tournament.

I don't think he'll win the paris masters, but I do think he has as good of chance as any to win the WTF.

I think he finishes the year world #2 and that's fine by me! As long as he can keep that #2 seed into the AO (which seems possible)

Thanks. I couldn't find an announcement about it.

I don't know why Murray bothers entering Basel, only to pull out. This is the second year on the trot he's done this. It's becoming a bit too farcical. I bet the organisers are beginning to think so too.

It's on the German part of the Offiial site. Neil Harman tweeted last night night that he heard Andy was unlikely to play - tight back ;) (I said he'd have a 'back injury' for Paris - happened a week early - don't think he'll play Paris either; I think the plan was always to have a training week in London next week with Mr Lendl).

If that's the plan, why not just say so. "Sorry guys, I've got a dodgy back and need to rest up for the next couple of weeks so I won't be playing anywhere during that time". Quite simple and direct and to the point instead of saying, "Oh yes, I'm playing Basel and Paris" and then, "Oh no, I can't play them after all!" on the eve of each draw:confused:

Delpo is playing Basel? Nice, he seems in good shape, ready to win his 3rd title of the year tomorrow.

Because in order to pull out of an MS, you need to have a plausible excuse or you run the risk of a fine and/or zero pointer. Pulling out of Basel gives him that and sets the scene for missing Paris.

As soon as I heard him say in Japan that he'd be hooking up with Lendl "the week before the WTF" as opposed to "During the Paris Masters" I had my doubts he'd be playing Paris.

To be honest mate, I want to him to ensure he has the best possible chance of winning the WTF - if that means missing Basel and Paris then so be it.

But, if that's the plan, why not just announce you have a bad back and need to rest up for a couple of weeks and so therefore cannot play Basel and Paris. Ferrer did something similar so he could skip playing Canada and Shanghai and he incurred no point penalties.

You may be right. We'll see.

I agree. I couldn't care less about Basel and am perenially mystified why Murray chooses to enter it and then pulls out. Paris would be a pity because it is a Masters after all and would be his last chance to win one this year (ironically it is the only one the 2 previous British number 1s, Rusedski and Henman, ever managed to win). But I completely agree that WTF is the priority for him and if that is what it takes...then so be it! :)

You should both be ashamed. Pro Match Results is for the discussion of matches and tournaments and lighthearted trolling.

Save your real garbage for the General Pro Player Discussion forum, like everyone else.

It`s good that there is competition for Federer having Del Potro here but i really don`t get it.Del Potro is pretty much qualified for the WTF,why play another 500 event. This way he will be playing for 4 straight weeks.
