I've used this setup for a couple of months now, and I love it. At this point, my only question is, what syn gut should I use? I've been using OGSM 17, but I'm open to other suggestions. Fwiw, I use a Prestige Mid and I'm not a string breaker.

I loved Gosen mains, if you want a slightly less durable, but arguably better feeling, try using Forten Sweet 17. I really enjoyed it as well.

It's settled then. I'll get a reel of it as my OGSM starts to run out. Are there any under-the-radar syn guts I should also consider? It seems like Forten and Gosen are everybody's favorites.

Those are my two favorites. Wilson sensation is also pretty decent, and my shop uses Golden Set Syngut as almost all of our string. Golden Set is really cheap and quite soft. It's one of the easiest strings I've ever strung. It's somewhat comparable to forten but more smooth I find. Forten feels kind of "sticky" for a syn gut, while GS is a lot more "smooth." This is all relative though. Forten is my standout for feel though. Gosen is just nice cause it's pretty darn crisp and good playing.

What tension did you use with Forten mains and poly crosses?

Last time I did it was in a Yonex 95D, I did 54/50. I'm a big fan of a 4lbs drop, but you could definitely manage with a 2lbs difference. I would assume 54/52 would play a lot more uniform. In my Prestige Midplus' I was doing 50/48 and 50/46 if I remember correctly.

Yeah that crispness is why I keep coming back for more. I like it a lot as a main. But it can't hurt to try the Forten; even if I don't like it I'm only out $45, and some of the people I string for might prefer it to OGSM.

Yeah for sure! I know a lot of people like Forton since it's a bit more forgiving. I hope it works out for ya!
