I've been a polyester user for about 5 years now. First with all poly and most recently with a hybrid. I'm looking to move to all sythetic gut stringing.

I'm looking for something with a soft (I guess anything will probably feel soft compared to the poly) feel, offers some power, and gives reasonable durability. Little string movement would be a bonus.

I'm just wondering what you are using and if you have any thoughts on a string I should try?

Yonex 850 and 850 Pro would be good ones to try.

Funny you should mention the Yonex string...it (one of the Yonex strings) was what was in the Yonex Nano Speed RQ7 racquet I just finished playtesting for T-W....I absolutely loved this racquet...string might have had something to do with it.

Hi everybody, i'm a newbie here :D ! I wish you apologise for my bad english... and for answer to the question, for me 2 choices : Gamma synthetic gut or Toalson Leoina 66 or 77. There are both soft enough, good durability, cheap (according to me, the cheapers...) and easily foundable in US shops (not in France  !).

I'm using Volkl PowerFibre 17 and really liking it. I also put up a thread which might interest you. If you're looking for a softer feel on your string bed, you may want to look into varying the mains/crosses tension by about 5 pounds.

Prince synthetic gut with duraflex is a great option for a first time all synthetic user. It's pretty much a 5/10 in everything (that is, it's durable, but not super durable like a poly, or its stiff, but not mushy like natural gut).

Last two times I used each, the 17g broke in 2.5 sets and the 16g broke in 6 sets...hoping to get just a little more durability than that :D

    Wilson Stamina 17 or 18
    Gosen OG Sheep Micro JC
    Prince Syn Gut Original 17
    Tecnifibre Syn Gut 17
    Babolat Super Fine Play 17
With the exception of Stamina all syn guts are solid core with a single layer of nylon 66 outer wrap. The outer coating may differ but the construction is all the same. Try different brands because they are all really inexpensive.

Unfortunately, I'd recommend against the Yonex string because when I tried it, I broke it in 6 hours; I didnt' even break 18g Prince Synthetic with Duraflex that fast! I'd try something like Supreme for a stiffer yet highly playable synthetic gut.
