Right now I play with leather under my overgrips; and I have some tennis elbow. I was wondering if changing to synthetic would help reduce it by a noticeable amount. Anybody try it?

not much, it depends on amount of tennis you play, however, i would never change my leather main grip ;)

I'd rather change tension, strings, even go to a softer frame before I swap out my leather for a sponge...

would changing to synthetic make your racquet slightly less head-light, making your TE slightly worse?

try changing other factors instead (strings, weight, tensions)

Ah, right; I forgot to add that I was going to put more weight into the handle.

Well, I'm already using a gut/synth hybrid at a pretty low tension

A synthetic grip will absorb more shock, but NEVER replace a leather grip.
