Tears and social commentary

    This is really not about Federer's tears... it looks like all of us what to know immediately what other think about that. We have our own immediate reactions... Right away, we want immediate validation on what we think is shared by others. So, we latch on to what the commentators say about that. They know that and so they comment on that. Same thing with discussions on this forum.

    I see this with political speeches also. When the president speaks, more than one's own impression, we want to know what the 'pundits' say about the speech.

    I have fallen into such a thing and over the years I am slowly extricating myself from that. Not that it is weird to know what others think about certain things but I think it should not be about validating your own gut level first impressions.
