I know there are many different ways tennis pros are compensated, could someone, preferably pros or club directors, enlighten me as to the different kinds of contracts or deals that are common to teaching at an outdoor club.

There are so many different ways of doing this, but the most common are:

Pro is employed by the club and paid a salary (most often Head Pro's or racquets managers)
Pro is self employed and paid a retainer by the club for a certain amount of services and invoices the club for other work done.
Pro is self employed and invoices the club for work done.
Pro is fully self employed and takes all money from all lessons and pays the club a rental fee.
Pro is fully self employed and takes all money from all lessons and pays the club nothing!!!

The last one is very unlikely unless you have a daft club committee!

    cheers

He pays a discounted rate sometimes.
He can also be contracted to help club with youth tennis camps which pay a set rate.
