today when i hit i noticed some pain near my elbow. it is not the typical place for tennis elbow though..... it is above the elbow and on the backside, it is between the triceps and the elbow joint itself. is this tennis elbow? i feel a little discomfort, but bearable, when i hit 2handed backhands and serves but everything else is ok. and it is not really painful.

Yeah IMO that would be a variant of TE. Perhaps hitting a touch higher than average but with BHs causing an exacerbation and it being on the thumb side, it sounds like it.

I had something like that last winter but it was on the inside, before the bicep instead of near the tricep like yours. Mine was tendonitis. I'm pretty sure it was caused by swinging too hard with a grip that was too small.

Recovery was rest, cooling and anti-inflammatories. Menthol gel really helped cool the area deep inside below surface.

I guess, it’s has something to do with your 2HBH. Try to keep your right hand as straight as possible and relax as much as possible. Let your LEFT hand do the job.
