Hey TW guys, I just got some orders to head over to VA later this year, and I wanted to see if anyone could point me in the direction of the courts with players once I arrive. I'm a 4.5 player, volunteer coach at my local high school here in Hawaii and hoping I'm transitioning into a good tennis community.

Hey USArmyTennis, your first stop should be here:

It is the 'Mid Atlantic Tennis' thread here at TT. I'm a bit further west (Warrenton, which is ~ 40 miles from DC), but many of the people over there can point you in the right direction.

If you are interested in USTA tennis, there are tons of leagues (Men's 4.5, 18+ and 40+, Mixed 7.5, 8.0, 9.0, Tri-level) that run year-round. And the beauty of the leagues is you don't need to be a member of any club. They play all around the Northern VA area, you just cover your court fees.

And if you feel like taking a nice drive out to the Shenandoah Mountains, but want to get in a couple of sets of tennis beforehand, shoot me an e-mail and you can swing by my local club. We've got a couple of nice clay courts just waiting to be played on...

I think the Army-Navy Country Club is private, just called by that name. I try to avoid travel to play tennis, but I definitely will travel for clay. Once I move I'll have to find some time and come slide around the court with ya.
