I was wondering if anyone knew how popular tennis is in Corpus Christi? It looks like they have plenty of courts, both private and public. The HEB Tennis Center looks nice. I've checked out the CCTA website, it was somewhat helpful.

Searches here only came up with the Islanders (TAMCC) and people looking for a hitting partner.

Anyone have any experience with this city?

Very popular....as you mentioned the HEB center is one of the best in he state and Corpus has a LOOOOOONG history of having excellent players. Many top Texas Jrs are from the area and the Premier Academy based at HEB is good.

Good number of Seniors that live in the area as well as some military - but Corpus a good size city.

Add to that the Valley is close by and again has a strong history in tennis with many of the Valley schools on he HS and college level being quite strong.

HEB also hosts a big time NCAA D1 tours evey year and has for years - the HEB ctr has a show court that has like 2600 seats.

I found this video about the Islanders. Right when the video starts the narrator mentions that Corpus Christi has been ranked in the top 15 tennis cities in the nation on several occasions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bo8WOc0Rz5A.

Can anyone verify this? I've tried to find it through a basic google search and I can't find CC on any lists.

Yes it's true.....the USTA Texas Section website is a good place to look at how big tennis is in Corpus. Lots of the better league teams and Jrs are from the area in and around the city.

If I remember right Corpus was one of the Tennis Best Towns back in 2010. USTA used to run the list.
