Tennis makes me happy again :)

A while ago I posted about my frustration with tennis, and doubting whether I want to continue playing the sport. Well, today I played with an old high school buddy and my game was ROCKIN'. I have to say that the whole summer I've been lifting weights and doing lots of cardio (plain jogging and HIIT). I managed to lose around 10 pounds and made significant strength gains.

Although my consistency wasn't brilliant (I haven't actually played tennis in weeks), it was still pretty decent to win me most points. I noticed that overall my footwork was MUCH better and I was zooming around the court back and forth hitting some powerful shots. I felt physically lighter. Also today I played some extremely long rallies, which is very unusual for me. Hitting with power AND consistency? No waaaay man. Get outta here.

At the end of the day I felt hungry for more games. I just wanted to keep playing nonstop. I guess all I needed to do was take a long break from tennis but also work on my fitness. So I'm going to keep at it. My fitness is better but not ideal, so I'm going to spend the next few months really refining this aspect. I feel that once I'm in extremely good shape, everything else will fall into place :)
