    a10best,

I got court 5 tomorrow at 8 AM. It will be the first court directly in front of you when you come through the doors. ssgator80 and Jeff Nuese will be down there too.

The funnies moment yesterday was when a10best asked if his car was safe at OTC. I remember thinking that the first time I played there.

I have heard of more break ins at the other suburban facilities than at OTC. At Lake Cane they had a bad problem of smash and grabs during the day, especially when the womans teams are playing. They targeted the purse that was left in the car as the ladies were on the court. Who takes their purse on the court with them? I think they do now.

They also target the church parking lot where my son goes to pre-school. I thought about going for the easy purse joke but I'll pass since I'm worried about being called a pusher...

Also, Mik, these smash and grabs happened up in Gainesville as well (roughly 90 minutes north of orlando). It happened at all of our tennis clubs and a a few of our gyms. The police actually found that it was a crime ring out of Ft Lauderdale im pretty sure. The police found multiple gps units in cars that were caught which contained the location of all of the tennis clubs that were reachable from I75 north of Ft Laud. Unfortunately it happened to a lot of the women at our tennis facility. The thieves use some part of a spark plug to shatter a window and its basically silent since the glass from the window falls into the seat of the car. Sometimes the thieves would follow people from banks/grocery stores and other places. The whole thing is pretty insane/intense.

I used to have my rackets strung at Lake Cane, but no, I do not string or teach there. The only time I play there is if I can't find clay courts to hop on or sometimes I sub in for a Tuesday night doubles team and they sometimes have away matches there. Molly is still there running tournaments.

I had my house broken into last year. It was only a few days after I brought a MacBook Pro home. Then I read that thieves were following people from Apple stores and either breaking into their car later when they parked or following them all the way to their house. Our next door neighboor's son is a career criminal and she acted very strangely after it all happened, so it could have been a local person that did it too. Either way, I'm glad I'm not in a house anymore.

Yeah, the car theft thing has been going on for a couple of years now unfortunately. I teach/string/play at a club in Gville and the woman would have anything from sun passes to wallets and jewelry stolen. But the weirdest thing was that it could happen right in front of you and you wouldn't notice. An Suv had its passenger rear window smashed 30 ft from the closest court located next to the parking lot while a clinic was being given and no one heard or saw anything, they are professionals.

That is pretty wild. A female deputy who plays at our club had her car broken into and her gun was stolen. They found it a few months later during a federal drug bust.

Did you use to work there?

Probably a little bit harder to change names in draw sheets now with the computerized USTA system. I remember my freshmen year at Districts, I had a pretty nice draw. Had an easy first rounder and was the favorite in the next round until I hit a seed in the semis. We got rained out and came back the next day and all of a sudden I was matched up against the number 1 seed! I didn't really care because I'd heard how good the guy was so I wanted to play him. I think I won a game early in the match that gave me some false confidence because I did not win any more after that.

    M. Dunn. Played him two years ago. We played the Alachua team this year and I know some of those guys were teaching at clubs in Gainesville. I was out of the lineup for that match so I dont know their names.

I wonder if he could top DT's (a player of past OTC lore) tantrums. His most famous one being where he threw his entire tennis bag over the fence of the facility and one of the old timers took the 5 minute walk to retrieve it and then sell it back to him!

LOL thats awesome. One of the Juniors that played in Gville was playing a city rival and was so angry after they split sets he threw the other players bag over the Fence and refused to walk and get it, and ended up winning the match in the third. Definitely one of the funniest things that I have ever seen

My apologies, sorry about that. Do you guys play mens open tournaments at all? A few years back the draws for mens open tournaments were fairly good in size and quality of players, but I think its fallen a bit

My name is Scott Stewart. Played him at regionals for USTA team 4.5 at Daytona 2 years ago. I have always kept his name since I get to Gainesville on occasion during the year. Just in case I needed a match. Have never done it though.

I play mostly 4.5 tournaments - but havent played as many lately. Hopefully play a few more age group 50+. You're probably a young kid. LOL

Has anyone noticed how bad Penn regular duty balls are lately. Never had a huge problem with them in past. But the ones they put out now are Crap. The balls are smaller, they get dirtier, have more low bounces, fly farther, & accrpt less topspin. Yesterday at OTC we labeled them as "ladies balls".

Bring real balls next time and then I can hit them harder. Those **** Penns barely bounce so anything low I can't be aggressive on. Then when I get a sitter, I have to worry about whether the 0.0000000001 ounce ball will fly into the back of the fence when I hit it hard. I'd be willing to bet that most of those balls don't meet the bounce specs that all balls are supposed to meet even fresh out of the can. Add some moisture to them and then you can have absolutely no offensive game.

    PP,

I bought the high end Dr. Scholls inserts today. I got a pair of $40 NB shoes at the local Sports store and signed up for some kind of program where they spam me for life but I get $5 off the shoes. So I paid $35 for the shoes and $20 for the inserts.

nice..interested in how they compare to the standard Athletic Gels.

I put the standards in my Solutions and so far (w/ a patella band) my knee has been a lot better.

I read 1 review on Amazon and the person compared the two. It was enough to tempt me into trying it. For some reason, I'm really tearing through the regular Dr. Scholls with the shoe I'm using now. I think the shoe is causing me some mild Achilles tendinitis so that is why I'm going to relegate them to a backup role.

He must be making the rounds. I got an e-mail from Stonebrook CC out in Winchester, VA, just an hour drive from Reston out Rt 50. He'll be there Saturday, May 11th giving clinics & a luncheon where you can sit & chat with him for a bit. It's called 'Wilander on Wheels'. When are you planing on coming up?

The Mats event was apparently like that. People had drinks watching him play and then everyone could party with him after the Exo.

My 4 year old keeps harassing us to go to DC. We keep trying to explain how cold it is up there right now. I'm moving next month, so most likely May or early June we will head up there. I'm pretty sure I'll be bringing up a free half set of the Ytex for you to try.

I certainly hope not. It's embarassing enough that we have a men's pro tournament with guys that have ATP points and they are playing for a few grand with balls that have sat on the shelf of Wal Mart for 3 months.
