Looking for someone interested in hitting

Staying at Vistana resort all week. They have some decent clay and hard courts. Solid 4.5 player visiting from NOVA.

I can't contact you because you do not allow e-mails to be sent through your username. Shoot me an e-mail through my username. I live about 10 minutes away from there and I'm a shaky 4.5 at the moment.

I hope you are a patient man, Jag. LOL. Last time I played at Vistana, they had one court with an adjacent tree that hung way out over the court. Nice and shady but made lobs out of the question. Jag - you could get that court and eliminate Mikeler's go to shot. LOL

When your opponent is 4 feet tall, it is very effective.

I saw this interview with Toni Nadal in the Pro Player discussion. Were you running this tournament?

    Q. In Sao Paulo he suffered lot against Alund and Berlocq. Was the situation complicated due to the state of the courts and balls in the Brazilian tournament?

    A. No doubt. It’s true that Rafael was playing badly because of all I said before, but the reality is that the height had its influence, The courts were not in very good condition and the balls were really a disaster ...

    Q. Jose Perlas described them as supermarket'balls '.
    A. It's what they were.
I feel bad for the organizers because when you go to play somewhere it’s ugly to badmouth a place where you have been treated well. But I don’t blame the tournament because of a tournament organizer doesn’t have to know how the balls are. I blame Wilson [the brand of balls used during the tournament in Sao Paulo] and I blame the ATP. They can’t allow this type of balls. It’s the same as in Madrid: the promoter can do what he wants, he can try to play even in a disastrous court. That's wrong, but in the end it’s the ATP who must give permission. I do not think this would have happened in other sports. I don’t think in the Formula One they don’t control where they compete. I don’t think anyone says, "Let's run here and we'll see how it goes". I don’t think b y any means think that this is so. The same in Golf. When you organize a tournament they come to control the field because that's what’s normal. Not even that does the ATP. I find it incredible.

The sad thing is the Supermarket Wilson balls are still better than the Supermarket Penn Championship balls.

    Me and Penn disagree.

I saw SK's bald head on TV this morning. He was at the match between Gasquet and Youzy.

Ironically I like the Penn Marathon best. They don't fuzz up that much like most other balls.

I think the whole issue is really how the balls are stored. If the Penn Championships are stored at room temperature at the store and by the player, they are fine. Unfortunately, I think they are left outside for months at these larger chain stores until they are ready to be brought inside for sale. Although Jeff did buy a batch at the I-drive tennis store where one ball actually broke during the match.

That's pretty funny about SK. At least he got to see two very sweet 1 handers competing.

Do you really have any idea how they are stored? I think purely conjecture - unless you moonlight at Wally World instead of hustling home to the wife - like you say.

On my way to OTC to play DA

I didn't steal the excessive ball bouncing, just the quick toss and shoot.

This must be a new thing because you were not doing it on Tuesday. I was actually noticing how far you get your racquet in the "back scratch" position.

Off Topic - notice the forum has a auto spell check going now.

Sometimes I revert back. I have to be thinking about it since it is not ingrained yet. As for the back scratch, I'm doing flexibility exercises with my shoulder now which are helping.

I had a interesting situation come up yesterday. I was hitting on court 4 for 2 hrs yesterday. Get I the car and driving home - just about at my house and I notice by wedding band was not on my finger. Called OTC and asked the guys to go down there and look around. Get home and go through my bag, shorts, shirts, etc and cant find it. I call back OTC and they say they looked and could not find it. I was thinking it was on the court but really had no idea. It could have been in the bed, etc. On the phone with my wife telling her the bad news, when OTC calls. Matt went back down to court 4 and found it right in the middle of the court. Ive had that 27 years - the longest I have ever owned anything.

My ball bouncing is below average by Djokovic standards. And I can start a warmup rally without bouncing ball 1 st like beginners. :)

I would have thought some of those cans of Penn balls you keep are older. The biggest bummer of the burglary we had last year is they got my wedding ring. I lost it like 3 times because I would always take it off, 1 time I could not find it for 3 months. So my wife quarantined it to keep it safe...the irony.

    Hee hee.

Last night I was playing jagmeister and had an interesting point. The point before, I think he must of hit the ball in the net and then it rolled back about 10 feet on the deuce court sideline. He opted not to clear it. So my next serve, I of course aim for the ball. Swing and a miss. He hits a hard forehand to me that I'm just trying to get around on with my 2 hander. My shot hits the stray ball and both go sideways off the court in different directions. Nice to know I can hit my targets lol.

I had that happen w/ a friend a couple of years ago. We weren't certain what to do, so we played two. Afterward we looked up the rule, and it is quite interesting. Basically, if the person has a play on the ball after it hits the resting ball, play continues. But what what is really interesting is if the player believes he/she is hitting the correct ball, it matters not which ball is played.

In other words, mikeler hits ball a and it hits the resting ball, ball b on my court. If at the point of impact it is not clear which is a and which is b, and I play ball b, then play continues.

In either case, if neither ball is playable, mikeler wins the point.

Think of hitting 50 overheads in an hour as a right hander. I played him in singles last night but I think my neck muscles have now built up. Tonight I play the exact opposite player, El Gatorito.

About 7 years ago I met my wife for lunch. Afterwards I notice my wedding band is missing. Like you I searched all over and when I couldn't find it I called the restaurant. They couldn't find it, so I figured it was gone for good.

Fast forward about 5 years from when I lost it. I put a jacket of mine in the dryer. I hear a clang, clang clang. What could that be? Holy cow, it's my wedding band. It somehow, fell off my finger into my jackets pocket.

    Now I have 2:)

Nice story Gatorbait. Do you wear both rings at the same time? LOL

Are you in Fla? With a handle like gatorbait, I figure you are a Gator fan.

Pulled the old - switch the can of balls - on Mikeler last night. Work just like I planned.

You've beaten me with the Pro Penn Marathons many times, so I don't know why it matters who payed for the can??? I have the ball bounce app on my iPhone. Next time you open up a can of those dead Penn Championships, let's measure how high they bounce and see if they meet spec.

There's tons of tennis here. USTA, ultimate tennis is big down here. There is a ladder the local tennis shop put together which is pretty popular.

There's a bunch of tournaments like the gator is playing in Clearwater. I don't get to set aside entire weekends often with two little kids but last weekend there was a doubles tournament at Avila which my buddy and I play in every year. It's always lots of fun and attracts a lot of talent. This year former pro Ashley Fisher and his partner won.

ssgator used to drive around the state all the time for tournaments. He has cooled it lately until this weekend. Probably just part of the empty nest syndrome for his kids leaving the house. You and I don't have that problem...yet.

Hi gatorbait, where about in Tampa do you live? I lived in Orlando for a couple of years as well and am now in South Tampa. We should hit sometime.

Hey everyone else. I don't see Bob, lodeen, Coyfish, etc. Where are they at now?
