Oh, I played a "5.0" in Germany. I automatically deduct 0.5 from any stated NTRP rating unless I can find evidence on TennisLink.

I've heard of the epic Mikeler vs. Mclovin matches and I've hit vs. McLovin. I know better than to claim 5.0 in this situation. LOL!

All good. I just tape it before each match and never feel it. It is aesthetically more pleasing as well.

    Ladies and Gentleman,

The day has finally arrived. According to the USTA early start ratings, I'm officially a 5.0 for the rest of the year.

First off, I'd like to thank my parents and family. I'd also like to thank ssgator80 and WickedFH for their help allowing me to become the player I am today while they wallow in that 4.5 wasteland. I'd also like to thank that little bald guy who has helped develop my overhead into a world class weapon. Many thanks to Jeff for showing me how to hit drop volley winners on McLovin et al.

This is a special day. I intend to celebrate with a nice meal out at McDonald's followed by some time at Monkey Joe's. Thanks everybody!

I changed my signature too. Notice the lol at the end. I won a doubles match after saving 4 match points against a benchmark 4.5 and self rated 5.0. I won a singles match against a guy that moved from 4.0 to 4.5. Then I beat a computer rated 4.5. I'm not sure how they come up with me being a 5.0 based on that. ssgator80 did not lose a match but still stays at 4.5. Maybe they take height into consideration for the ratings, I have no idea.

Some people take this stuff way too seriously. Last I heard, ssgator80 was curled up in a ball in the corner of his bedroom crying.

My worst fears (besides getting bumped to 7.0) have come true. The bug my son picked up the first day of school seems to have hit me last. I got da chills. That ain't right in August!

get news from Reuters. local news cfnews13 when needing update on weather or traffic. not interested in wasting time watching court cases that drag on for days or months. nor sensationalized comments from wingnuts.

I'll shoot you the link via e-mail later.

I watched most of the UF game and switched to the US Open during commercials. I'm feeling good enough to leave the house for the first time and possibly eat a meal today.

Whenever I get these stomach illnesses, it seems to fix all my tennis aches. My on and off hamstring tightness the last few months is just about gone. Another time my golfer's elbow went away.

The bug we had was upper respiratory -that means there are two going around! Guess we will all have to be careful. You're right about the one positive of being sick as far as the injuries go.

My son developed a hacking cough yesterday. So if I'm lucky, I'll get a day or two off before my next illness.

I thought I would bring this to the top.

How about the weather? I walked outside this morning and it was cool. Nice.

I saw where Mikeler was already *****ing about the weather with his new friends from Mid-Atlantic. They are all home today due to the government shut down.

You should ask the Germans about their system of government. It is pretty interesting and seems like a better way to govern than ours.

On the flight back from Nationals with ssgator80. He is reading a Harlequin Romance novel a few rows behind me decked out in Florida Gator gear.

I had an opponent hit me with a tennis ball that he hit out of anger(with a 16 x 16 string pattern). Is that an automatic default?

Your opponent is a good guy and would never hit someone with a ball - unless extremely provoked. I believe you surely deserved it. There is way more to this story that you are not explaining.

    Why not hit him back.

The default happened when you showed up 45 minutes late.

    He did.

You need to shut the blank up Gator. You don't know what ur talking about. Ur tennis credibility is no more after Tuesday night. Mikeler simply couldn't handle his emotions. They got the better of him and he lost it.

Just because I had one bad match, I have no tennis credibility. I was simply sick out of my mind. It is the only way I lost that match.

Were you trash talking to Mikeler, maybe calling his mother names, making fun of his wife that is taller than him?

All very good reasons to hit you with the ball. Hell, I even hit you in our doubles match, just like I predicted. Next time, maybe I will put it - where the sun don't shine.

In terms of height from tallest to shortest, it breaks down like this:

    1. Me
    2. My Wife
    3. ssgator80
    4. Tattoo from Fantasy Island (but just barely)
