So I decided to try doubles first on Sunday. I'll be playing with JN and PM who The Gator knows. The fourth will be known as JR. A very good lefty who beat me in the Citrus 2.5 years ago. He has an odd schedule so I see him like once a year and never play against him. He has the nastiest slice serve known to man! You go to hit it and realize you are 6 inches off for the entire first set!

Hey Photoshop good to see you survive your Finals.

I'm willing to do the Fridays for sure with everybody, only thing I be able after 5:30 or 6pm in summer, cause the hot weather start and wont be able to handle it until that time I think.:(

Today was a Open in Ft Gatlin, there were a guy that hit 2h forearm( like Santoro), but then he could change it to 1h forehand in both sides. And the guy that beat him sometimes hit 1hbh and sometimes 2hbh, pretty much the most awkward game I ever seen:)

Got to hit for a half hour today and then play 3 sets of doubles. The first set, my opponent and I dominated. After that, they took us out in the next 2 sets. Playing a pair of lefties is tough when returning serve. The last set we lost on one break which was on my serve. Only had 3 or 4 DFs and the knee held up so that was good.

I played saturday and it got super hot fast. Wow. I was not prepared, but I sucked it up and played for about 3 hours. I stayed in and basically vegetated the rest of the night though.

The heat is awful, but it gets you in great shape...so I can't complain too much.

^^^ The heat stresses your body more. I know that the first summer back playing again 7 years ago was brutal for me. Even now, I rarely get a chance to play in the early summer afternoons so when I do play then, I typically hit the wall because my body is not adapted to those conditions.

I cant play in the heat cause I have Hyperthemia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperthermia). Even I feel I getting in shape more and more since 3 years ago..that part never going to change.
Every summer I think I'm getting better and when I go to the court I'm about to get heat stroke.
Only advice that I give to people like me, its know your limits. Doesn't matter if you're (generalizing here) the best of tennis or the worst. Know when to stop.

Maybe later I will post this topic in one of the main post in the tournament section where USTA players are push to play at 11 am- 3 pm in the middle of summer.

Most tournaments have the second match at 12:30 or 1. This weekend, I played my first match at 8 and my second at 12:30. In some you play 4 matches in 2 days. So endurance and stamina is very important. I generally handle the heat pretty well and try to use it to my advantage. Some guys have problems with cramping. It is damn hot playing a match at 1 in July.

I sweat way more and it's way harder to play. Much tougher on my body. I also lose moreweight which doesn't come back if I play all summer. So it's not just the water weight loss. Last summer was my first tennis summer since USTA Juniors and I lost 15 pounds. 10 of that has pretty much stayed off me, but it is harder to really burn cals in the cooler months.

I was suppose to play at OTC this afternoon but I guess it rained pretty hard down there. Never rained at my house. So we are moving to the hard courts at Delaney Park. I've never played there and hopefully it doesnt rain. We were going to just push back the start time to 6 at OTC but there is a magic game and traffic would suck.

Let us know how those Delaney courts are. I forgot all about those and I wonder if they get too busy. The rain has hampered my tennis this week.

The Delaney courts were resurfaced a few years ago with the US Open blue. One court gets a lot of leaves on it. It can be a problem getting an open court since they only have two. I have not played there in 2 or 3 years though.

My knee is at about 90%. I'm looking forward to singles again.

No play. As I was walking out the door. I called my partner and asked what it looked like over there. It was clouding up and I didnt want to drive all the way over there and it rain. We decided to make plans for in the morning, instead. Good call cause he said it rained. He likes the clay anyway. Did some yard work instead since we got just a sprinkle on this side of town.

I played from 1-4 today and hit a little with the local girl pro. She is really good. I think I heard she was world ranked around 500 in singles. Does not hit a super heavy ball, but has killer placement and spin. We started playing a set but she started to help me get a slice serve down, and it was worth stopping and practicing that because I was DF left and right today.

She said that I pronate all over the place and need to not hit flat nearly as much. I agree. My serve is either an ace or or fault. So I need to get my pronation down for the slice serve. I was hitting all of them in for a while but I know I need to practice it a lot more.

Ill probably pay her to hit more and get my slice serve down better. If I can have a go to serve so I stay consistent, I will be in good shape for match play.

Hey Javi, you are great addition to the Blanchard Open! :) You just need to relax a little bit. You are considerably better than you show imho...

All the best and see you in 5 :)

I was up 4-1 in the 3rd when we lost the court. Not a guy you know. I'm playing S.K. on Wednesday. He told me that he played his best match of the year against you last time out. That guy is the worst person to play if you are struggling a little bit since his whole game is based on waiting for errors. The knee is at about 95%. I may be ready to take you on again in another 2 weeks.

Yeah. SK played well. He was actually hitting for winners. He had an answer on every point. Played RJ this morning at Hunters Creek. I have RJ coming to OTC Wednesday afternoon to play doubles with JN. RJ is looking for matches. I'm playing at Grand Cypress tomorrow.

It didnt seem as hot today. Friday morning was hot - maybe cause I was getting my butt kicked.

Yesterday morning was very humid. This morning I took my boy to the park and it was terrific weather. So you finally explained to RJ that the best 4.5s are at OTC! I see him there every now and then. He'd fit well into the club. I think I still have his number, I'll keep him in mind for the future.

Grandma is out of town and I have to take a day off or lose the time, so taking Wednesday off works 2 ways. The first way is that it breaks the week up for my wife since she is on her own with Junior. Second, I don't feel guilty playing my mid-week tennis since I'll be around the rest of the day. I'd rather not try to play 3 days in a row with my knee still mending and elbow almost healed.

I played at Grand Cypress this afternoon. 8 clay courts and 2 hard. There was no one there. It was deserted. I got there first and there were 0 cars in the parking lot. I did not see another person in the complex the entire 2.5 hrs I was there. We played on the hard courts since my partner has a hard court tournament coming up.

I was a guest, but they have memberships. Very nice facility - but no people. Thats why he likes it there. He can get a court when ever he wants.

If OTC gets bought and demolished because of the Arena, that might be an option along with Winter Park.

I wondered about what would happen with the new arena. Would they really just destroy OTC too? That would be unfortunate.
