Of course! That is because you lave and enjoy tennis while you hate sitting at 34,000 feet ;)

Lost in the finals - 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 in the tie-break. On the court for 2.5 hrs. Started at 10:30. Ready for a beer, float in the pool for while, and then a nap.

I saw a few pictures of my forehand one day. It was uglier than I imagined!

Sorry about the loss ssgator. Those super tiebreaks are crap shoots.

Lost to big serving JN yesterday 6-3, 7-6 (5). That tiebreak only had 1 mini-break and it was on match point. Beat SK today 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (6). Had 2 match points at 5-4. Had to save a match point in the breaker. I hit one of the weirdest shots on the match point I converted. He approached on a short cross court forehand and I hit this sidespin/underspin squash shot DTL deep into his backhand corner which spun into the alley away from him. He got to it but could barely get a lob back my side of the net which I put away.

My serve tally for the weekend was probably 20 aces versus 3 DFs. Supposed to head up to DC if my sons blood work improves again tomorrow.

Congrats for making it to the finals. Also I'm seeing the draw and seems that you beat the first 2 guys by a big gap, my question is what's stopping you to play 5.0?

    Age!

Really, the draw for this tournament was kind of weak. I feel I can play 5's - just hard to compete against the 20 - 30 yr old with college experience. There is a good group of guys at the top who play these 4.5 tournaments that are about the same age and ability. There are more guys down south in the 4.5's also. Also the 5's usually have such small draws. From my experience most of the 5's are also much younger. I'm 48, and I always thought when I hit 50. I will start playing my age group.

The largest 5.0 draw I have seen in the last 6 years was 8 people. Normally you only get 2 or 3. I go back and forth with 2 guys who have won 5.0 tournaments but one of them only had to win 1 match! The other guy had to at least win 3 matches.

I totally understand, many times I want to play the opens, but I know my body wont be able to do more than 2 matches in one weekend if that's the case that I pass. On the other hand I'm very tempted to play the 5.0's cause the short draw.:)
    Anyhow, keep it up!! :)

I'd get crushed in futures! I played 1 Open tournament about 5 years ago. I played the #8 seed who was #2 in the Open division in Florida. The warmup was 15 minutes, the match was 30 minutes. I ended up winning 1 game. I won 1 match in the consolation division and then lost the next match pretty badly but it was more of a mental funk than the opponent.

I bought a bunch of IPAs yesterday. Looking forward to the sampling.

So few 5.0's playing tournaments? Thats stragnge. I would think all the top college bound high schoolers would be all over those.

I'm not sure why the 5.0 draws are so small here. It really is unfortunate because like the Gator, when I played 4.5s I had a few matches that were just way too easy for me.

Alot of times, if the player is a true 5.0, they are playing opens. I've watched some of those open matches and it can be very good tennis. Way above my head. Others are some what comparable.

Some of those guys in the open division of Citrus Classic were beasts.

My wrist is still hurting on forehands, but I hit for 2 hours yesterday. I had not been able to play in a while and my timing is a little late. I went to all synthetic gut to make stringing easier and be easy on my wrist. I have to say full Wilson Stamina is fantastic. I still get heavy spin, but I lose a little accuracy compared to BAM in a hybrid with it. Wilson Stamina is probably my favorite string I have used though.

It was so humid last night though. Wow..what I realize is I have to use Tourna grip in the summer. I went through 2 brand new supergraps in 2 hours. Went for an overhead smash and the racquet flew out of my hand and into the net. I am amazed I did not crack the frame. So I am back to tournagrip until the fall I guess.

Finally I have committed to the slice serve only right now. I am hitting a little long, but if I can just drill down the motion, I feel like I will have a real nice serve that I can bend in a few directions with pace.

The seed who destroyed me in the Open I played usually gets to the quarters or semis of the Citrus Classic.

I played this morning with JN, CC, and SK. No rain in the morning. Hot, though. Out of town this weekend - 30 year HS reunion.

Played on a har-tru court with an old childhood friend of mine from brasil and i am shocked at a difference it makes on your body. I feel like i did not play at all :)

My legs are not tired or beat. I have to make a point to play at least half hartru half hc from now on and not only on hc.

This is Amazing :) my feet are not sore I am amazed...

Just wear proper clay court shoes when you go. I don't want to see the courts all tore up on Saturday morning!
