I was hoping it would have snowed on Mikeler in DC.
If you don't need the shoes now. Check out the next color-way.
The blue green are nice on court. I'd style the black pink off court.
Played today in a 15 MPH wind and 70 degree temperatures. Brrrrrr.
Played around 9am. Winds weren't that bad at that time. It was about 60 and I felt toasty, had to loose the jacket.
Played this afternoon from 2-3:30 on the clay out here. We have some pretty big trees that shield us from the wind (mikeler and downs know what I'm talking about), so it was just like a late afternoon in Florida...in December...
Good advice. I'm going to wait & see what they release during/after Wimbledon for the US Hardcourt series. If I don't like it, I'm going w/ the Blue/Green.
The woods of Endor. I know it pretty well. You may have to put up with some leaves and pine cones though.
i played today too.
i restrung a racquet with volkl cyclone 17g yellow
i think part of my problem has been playing with dead strings... when i cut out the strings.. there was no snap... just able to easily cut through them.
i started out serving terribly as usual lately and lost the first set.
however, i remembered i had tried changing my serve motion lately.
it is now a combination of peng shuai'sand mikhail youzhny.
i was doing the peng shuai arm take back(straight up intstead of back) but i was forgetting to do my youzhny left foot step up...
so i started doing the youzhny step up and then my serve was going in over 100mph with tons of spin too. i won the 2nd set easily and won the tiebreak in a landslide.
i'm BACK baby! woooooooooooooooooooooo
first time using cyclone. it felt like the perfect string for nadal. very low powered but tons of grip. it encourages you to swing hard and grunt. a couple times i hit shots that i thought must go long but they would drop on the line.
really liked it! 2 thumbs up!
Nice. Read some good things on cyclone.
BTW- Anyone of you guys ever play around with a ERT 300? http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Gamma_ATS_ERT_300_Tenniscomputer/descpageGAMMA-ERT300.html
Stringer who was trying to sell his services came by the courts today. Mclovin has my other two sticks, so I was using my MPP string with pacific gut and big ace.
Dynamic tension was pretty low - about 30-31 on that thing, which translated to about 40lbs in tension. The dude said that meant the strings were dead, but I guess I sort of like them this way. They weren't rocket launchy and control was decent.
Would be interesting to see what the other two sticks were at. I have a suspicion that they were a lot lower in tension that I wanted / liked.
88 on Wednesday and 90 on Thursday with no wind. Much more to my liking.
Sappy, any update on the soccer tix?
wookie, totally forgot. when is it? next wkd? can you CL and snatch 2 tix for us?
June 2nd. I'll see what I can do. Never done Tix off CL, but I don't think it's sold out yet.
so tired........i need a new job
also when did this happen? how can anyone not enjoy fed as a player is beyond me.
Survived hiking/camping trip. No bears but I did see a bunch of deer. No cicadas either, weird...
Got down to the low 30's at night and into the 70's during the day. People from WV are nice but a little strange.
Sappy - I'm working in Arlington near VS square metro Thursday. If I get free, want to try to meet up for lunch?
Is this because of the rain delay vs. "your opponent" Tommy Haas.
I cheer for him knowing that its "close" to the JRS ...He even has a wookie like look....
wookie, i'm at rosslyn metro. being out of DC/Betheda area, i'm lost and a bit skiddish. make it close to me and see what we can swing.
Okay, I'll see if I can make it happen. Hopefully I can get out for lunch. Or they may just lock us into a room all day for this meeting.
Guillaume Rufin I assume?
Name says it all..
Anyone up for lunch at Metro Center today @ noon? Let me know.
Its been long enough now for me to say this.
Berdych got effed by the draw.
so i tried a poly / syn gut hybrid in a match last night...i just didn't feel as dialed in as i do with full poly...still pulled out the win, but it was kind of ugly...side note, my arm feels great!
so anyways, what is for lunch?
And that's a bad thing because?
Back to what's REALLY important huh?? Haha
I'm usually right down the block but I smoked some killer beef brisket over the weekend - havin' mo' o dat fo' lunch!
downs, when we playing singles?
Also, are you in for this weekend's match? Sunday @ 2 vs. Fredericksburg. The final two matches are at CFAC.
sunday is jammed packed full of matches for me already...sorry!
but yes, singles...i need to learn how to play that again!
my wrist is totally effed.
time to either learn to play lefty
or hit with 2 hands on both sides.
maybe quit tennis.
Has a Doc taken a look at your wrist?
There's a "stop masturbating joke" in here somewhere...
Let's be honest, how much worse is your game going to get if you take a year off? I haven't played in over a year and I'm pretty sure I would suck just as bad now (as I did back then) if I picked up the racket again.
There's a "kick serve joke" in here somewhere..
Tried out 18g tour bite in the prestiges last night. Feels sweet. Awesome control and spin while swinging out. I'm sticking to the smaller gauge. I also think I prefer slightly higher tension. 52 felt great, 50 may have been a tad too low.
Had to say last night was the first time I've shown up at Newport and all the courts were dark. I had to kick on the lights. It rained but we just had to squeegee a few puddles and it was all good.
maybe you are like jaime lannister and just cut away the useless hand
regular tour bite, or the soft one?
Thanks for the spoiler..... been waiting for GOT on DVD through Netflix so I'm way behind.
BTW- Looks like I'm not getting out during lunch tomorrow. If I'm ever in Arlington again, I'll hit you up.
Regular - TB.
use small dumb bells and do wrist curls. Either that or carrying your child 24x7.
Hope you feel better soon.
I'm at the Reston clay courts. I better not get Mcbooted.
have you found tickets to the soccer match?
also major lazer bubble butt.. <--- WTF. you can find it on youtube
Looking online - looks like everything is on the 3rd upper deck. Don't know if I want to pay $45 to look at ants.
Suggestion - find a sports bar with a big TV and tasty food and drop $45 on eats.
I have bubble butt that booked marked. Haven't watched yet.
At a friends house this past weekend and they served chips and mango salsa, zesty pickles, and spicy brats from costco.
Naturally i got a bun..added a brat. Smothered it in real german mustard..then topped itwith mango salsa and chunks of spicy dill pickle.
It was awesome and looked like a work of art!
Rest of dinner was devoted to talk of opening a food truck/weinermobile!
I'd like to say, those were some of the best public clay courts I've played on outside of Florida. A tad dry in one area, but bounces were pretty consistent. Unfortunately, my game was not.
Sorry TW-MAC, I put my best out there, but came up short 5-7, 5-7. 2nd set was pretty much a mirror of the 1st: Up an early break, play a tired service game @ 3-2, play solid for another 5 games, then another tired service game @ 5-6. 2h 15m battle in the first 90 degree day of the spring.
What can I say? mikeler was just too tough, and too seasoned in the heat, on the clay.
Then I had the pleasure of driving from North Reston to Warrenton: 1h 30m. Wonderful...
Tennis is worth a 1h 30 min drive IMHO.
Sappy, ever use direct seats?
You gots mail sappy.
Only if you win...
I still believe in you mclovin
Ouch, that is not a fun drive. When I went out to your place last time it was about an hour each way but well worth it.
Those courts were pretty good for early season. I've seen much worse.
As for the match, McLovin has upgraded the serve with his new stick. Both on the 1st and 2nd serves. I watched a few more aces go by and his kick serves were not allowing me any room to attack on the 2nd serve. With the exception of my first service games in each set, I played well the rest of the way through.
I have a huge advantage having played in the heat on and off the last 2 months. Those first few matches in the heat are always brutal every spring but then your body adapts.
McLovin did get me back for last time with a few sweet drop shots and half volley drop shots. My highlight of the day was a 1 handed topspin backhand cross court passing shot winner. That one I was rewarded with the McLovin middle finger! I did point out that I'm only using the 2 hander under protest from my elbow.
I forgot to mention we had a long discussion about Sup2Dresq and his South Florida sandbagging.
