veddy nice nitefly. i'd say you are pretty serious about improving your game. if you've never hit with a ball machine before try this:

fill your machine with the 150 balls.
set the time interval for say 2 seconds between feeds.
set the oscillator so you alternate forehand and backhands.
150 balls every 2 seconds is about 5 minutes.

report back and tell me how tired you are. it's exhausting. the only way for you to get more tired is maybe hitting with me and having to fetch all the balls i shank over the fence.

I've hit with a tennis tower at my club before. Yea... hell of a workout!
I think a two second feed might just give me a heart attack.

JRstriker12 - Yeah, I was checking out the schedule. I can't believe how late some of the start times are... 8-9pm! I might have to bring a sleeping bag with me. We definitely need to play doubles sometime. What's up with the shoe rule? I just looked at the bottom of my BFII's and they are black (and blue). BTW, I like spicy chicken...

Magma/TFM/hollywood - email me your phone numbers in case we need to go to plan b/c/d...z trying to find open courts this afternoon. If anyone can get there a little earlier and recon the place, that would be cool. :)

    Email has been sent dude.

I will be leaving here about 3. so If i get there and courts are open I will relax until a few peeps show up. Then I will pull my hopper out and hit one serve. Walk across net to retrieve and hit sever back.. Rinse wash and repeat. I figure this way I hit one serve every 5 minutes or so, and with the hopper out some dude pulls in the parking lot and it looks like Im in sonme serious praqctice mode.

See TFM's comment earlier about the shoes. They may not crackdown. My Cage 2's are blue on the bottom - hopefully that won't be an issue either.

BTW- see you at the metro at 6:30pm.

Late starts won't be to bad for me. The kiddo should be in bed by then.

Chicken Report - twice spicey and one mild. :)

The latest match start I've had was a match scheduled to start at 9pm.

Unfortunately the tournament was running severely late... So it didn't start until 11pm... And by that time the ibuprofen pill I had taken to be able to play at all had stopped working... (I had a bad cold, but it was the national championship so I didn't want to default).

Nothing like the 11pm indoor soccer games we used to play up at the Dulles Sportplex. Every indoor season we had at least one 11pm start time and a few 10pm games.

hollywood -- i'm glad you made it home okay.

sup -- what is this will you are speaking of? are you short for this world? it's the syphillis isn't it? finally caught up with you huh. can i have your nike gear and an asian k90? if it's not an asian k90 just get a pair of pliers and put a slant on it.

JRstreaker, Hollywood, TheJRK, Magma, Sapient, Thumberland, and Topaz -- thanks for the fun last night! special thanks to the Toe Pez who brought us cookies! i was only half joking (and half dead freaking serious) when i asked her to bring us cookies and sure enough she shows up after 2 hours of tennis with her other group and brings a bag of delicious chocolate chip cookies. there's nothing more american than a chocolate chip cookie washed down with warm gatorade.

avoided the dog house last night too. wife thought 7:00 tennis meant i would be home around 9:00 (silly woman). i got home last night at 11:00 and she was none too pleased on the phone while driving home. walked in the door expecting her to give me the cold shoulder . . . but the genius that is TFM stopped by mcdonalds drivethru and picked up her late night snack favorite: big mac, small fries, sweet tea. happy with her snack the woman yapped on about whatever it is she does during the day yadda yadda and i didn't have to sleep on the couch. :)

    TWMAC April 08-Meeting

    Okay guys,

    April 19th, Saturday 10am - 1pm.

Should be another great meet! Yet again we recruited 2+ more members. Sorry some members cannot make it. I think we are now about 40 strong in participating members.

Some games, some round robin, some radar gun testing and to top it off, ... TFM's favorite passed time.. bbq!

Cost will be $20 bucks depending on count. That reserves 4 clay courts.

Here is the lineups. I reserve the power to change them at will, or mix them up if someone doesn't show. As of now, they look pretty good IMO.

There are 2 groups. There will be a 4th match with both winning teams facing off for a 1st prize and second prize. There will also be a consolation match for no prize (sorry).

After round robin, we will proceed on to the target challenge. Then BBQ.

Update: We will now be playing a proset (10 games). No adscoring. There will be a special "Skunk" rule in effect. If a team reaches 7-0, then the other team loses by default.

Remember: No handicap points can be used to conclude a game or match. Those with negative points must start their respective service games (each one) down those many points.

    Good luck.

    BBQ list:

Things we need (add if something was missed):
    Ice-
    Warming Trays-
    Coolers-
Picnic table cloth would be nice to have!

    Things we have:

    Greens and Ice - TheJRK
    Fruits/Veggies- Topaz
    Jerk Chicken - JRSTriker
    Ribs/Bulgogi- Nitefly
    Potato Salad/Gatorade- Jjjosh
    2 liter soda- Shcmad
    Chips/Nahos- Xisbum
Cups, Napkins, Plates, Forks, Knives, and Spoons - Sapient007
    Desserts/Cookies-Magmasilk
    Coolers-Magmasilk
    Grill-Sup
    Fold out chairs/Table- Nitefly/Topaz
    Bug Spray-Topaz
    Condiments and Sauces-Sapient007
    Appetizers-SonShine

    Thanks
    "El Jefe"
    Sup2dresq

P.S. Email me if you have questions or need a cell number to call in case of

As a refresher, you are awarded points to use at your leisure during match play. The points can only be used once during the match. They are replenished at the beginging of each match. When we play doubles, we will combine highest handicap with lowest handicap.

This time around.. there will be no trophy. We are playing for prizes worth a cash value thanks to a donation from Sup Enterprises LLC.

Round robin doubles will beging at 10am. We will play 1 proset since we have a little more time. No ad scoring though and special rule: *You cannot use a handicap point to conclude the match or a game!*.

At the conclusion of the round robin, we will have a target practice competition.. again for a prize of cash value.

1 minute for forehands and backhands. 6 targets about a 12x14. Hit the target squarely, get a point. Person with most points wins prize. No handicap points awarded for target practice.

Pictures will be taken througout the tennis tournament and target session. A group picture also before the picnic around 12:30ish-1pm..

Perhaps a picture of food coma passed out TFM holding a drunk passed out Sapient in a motherly way..

    Good luck
    Sup!

I would also like to say thanks for the cookies. I dont even think I introduced my self. But in my defense, by the time you got there I was in half-zombie state. Although I did not eat any cookies I am sure they were good because when TFM left he said somebody needs to eat these before I do. I saw only 2 cookies left in the bag :)

So thank you for the cookies Topaz, and thank you to the rest of guys for coming out next time I really will take a nap instead of hitting for 3 hours for peeps to show

topaz: how old did you think i was?
me: well um i thought you were older.
topaz: why did you think i was older than X years?
me: um well you always talked about the old ladies on your teams.
topaz: that doesn't mean that i'm that old.

i think my only saving grace is that topaz is used to dealing with children . . . :)

oh and true story. this is essentially how i met my wife. we met at a friend's BBQ (great things these BBQs). and during a group conversation i blurted out:

me: you know it's practically impossible for a women over the age of 30 to get married. they might as well give up.
future wife: what did you say?!
me: i mean women over the age of 30 are not only competing with younger girls but over a smaller pool of eligible men. the good ones are probably already married or in relationships.
    future wife: *angry look*
me: um how old are you?
    future wife: 30. *angry look*
me: these are really good ribs. *walks away*

we got married 8 months later.

    8 months?

    Was there a shotgun involved?

    True Sup story:

5-6 year old Sup doing math with his girl cousin at her kitchen table.. with Aunt doing dishes.

Sup: What year were you born?
    Cousin: 19.. blah blah.
Sup: How many months were you in Auntie's tummy?
    Cousin: 9 months
Sup: Auntie? What year were you married?
    Auntie: 19.. blah blah.!
*Auntie drops dishes.. as she realizes what I'm about to say!*
Sup: HA! Cousin you were at the wedding!

Last night was fun, thanks to everyone who came out! Hollywood is a soldier... dude was out there playing tennis for like 6 hours straight!

Thanks for bringing the cookies Topaz. They held me over until I got home to eat. :)

Magma and Sapient - Did one of you guys leave a gray TW water bottle behind? There was one sitting courtside when we left last night and I picked it up... let me know and I'll bring it Saturday.

I wondered if you were going to bring this up! *narrowing eyes*

I suggest the arm, TFM, makes people fear you on the court!

The REST of you are welcome for the cookies.

    TFM, not so much!

Did the rest of you even get any?!?

Ugh..... is it time to wake up??

Man, that was a fun mini-meet. Props to Hollywood, the tennis marathon man. Thanks to JRK, Magma, TFM, Sapient, for coming out and hitting.

A special thanks goes out to Topaz for the cookies, and for not throwing them while I was hitting - would have missed ever single ball.

A lot of fun and a ton of tennis. I was dead tired after that one. I nearly missed my stop on the metro and fell asleep while my bro was talking to me on the phone while on the bus. Didn't hear my alarm this morning.

BTW- Sup, I checked this morning, and I don't have any warming pans left. Thought I did but not a single one in the house. I only have the frames to hold the warming pans.

I think I'll just warm up the food in the oven that morning and run back home after tennis to grab the chicken since I'm around the corner. If anyone else wants to keep your stuff warm at my house, let me know. I should be able to hold one additonal large pan or two smaller pans.

All in Florida know where you got that bruise. Hanging your arm over the rim of the toilet.. praying or something... sounded like at least....

Still worthy of a level of respect. Much like how most guys will be in awe of TFM's chicken consumption. Though nobody wants to be around for the aftermath.

Call me. I'm about to head out to get some things for tomorrow. I can pick up some warming trays.

We will need someone to bring gallon of water for them right?
