Correct on the hat. I've tried it, along w/ sunglasses, and I feel as though my field of vision is affected, especially on serves. Maybe I'll give it a try again, but it just bothers me.

On the cramping...it wasn't anything severe, just that I'd move in one direction too quickly & I'd start to feel it happening. I'd pause, maybe pull back a bit, then it would go away. These really were extreme conditions, and to be honest, the best thing I could have done is drink a gallon of water BEFORE I stepped on the court...which I didn't.

Cramping is all about electrolyte levels. Yes you need water but in extreme heat the electrolytes are going to get depleted before you get dehydrated.

Funny you mention that. I heard a report on the radio this morning and Googled it when I got to work. Now, I realize its possible to find practically anything on the internet to support a viewpoint, so take this w/ a grain of salt (no pun intended):

my abs started cramping slightly when i was taking off my socks...NOT cool haha..

nice...since everyone here lives on the VA, MD, DC border -- we have a lot of leagues to choose from...VA districts done...MD districts next...then my DC team is in sectionals haha...

can you send that framed photo of @McLovin and I to the citi open people, and book us on center court again?

    what's for lunch people? hungry...ish

I played a long 3 setter in the heat last year. As I pulled away from the tennis center in my car, I had a sneeze and then an ab cramp. It was brutal!

We could head to the bird early tomorrow get some strings and I could fresh sting the ti-70's as well.

But I'm just as fine with drinking beers and eating pizza.

If its tomorrow we can hit up the pizza joint in Perryville. Best in the area by far. But the shop is closed on sundays.

saw HW up in HdG! it was a battle of yonexs with the ti-50 going against the ti-80. it was H.O.T. so after hitting for a while and being tied 2-2 in a set... we decided to hit the pool. my kid got to blast HW with a squirt gun and then we drank beers until the flies started biting.
    good times! thanks @hollywood9826!

Good times, hopefully you eventually got that pizza and enjoyed it.

And dem dang flys were biting like a SOB. but that avon skin so soft did a pretty decent job of keeping them away. Even when applied to wet legs.

Let m eknow next ttime you are up here and I wont have a 2 year old string jobs in the rackets.

Also in case you haven't figured it out yet your daughter loves monkies :) And the pool

i think the ti-80 had 5yr old strings at least...

dem flys doh! (dont be talkin bout no lotions and wet legs around here... or the hot dog and pert plus comments be comin quick!)
i wont mention WHY we had to stop at 2-2! DOH!
2 breaks of serves in there too... me cuz of double faults mostly.
we hit for a while before even thinking about playing... just for the heck of it.

i did get my pizza. got the "Special" with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, and sweet peppers. ON POINT!
next time we hit up ercoli's!

i was proud of myself for jogging 2x while up there to the lighthouse and back.
made me realize that my legs are super weak and probably why i can't serve right now.
gotta train so tennis is the easiest part of my day..not the hardest!

when i was a kid i said "QUACK!" constantly for a year.. so i guess its just payback that syd says "MONKEY!" darn crazy kids!

I don't know what it is with Harford county tennis courts. But my friend and I would always get to the courts warm up and then one of us would have to run back across the street to our trailer park to poop.

Although I think saturday it was probably early signs of dehydration.

I even had ice cold cans of natty bo in my cooler that didn't get drank

Didn't realize there was a thread here for the mid-atlantic set! I'm in the lovely D.C. neighborhood of Petworth. I'll probably walk over to the Citi Open tomorrow for a bit. Good to see some D.C. area people on here.

attendance must be poor at the open. they are still doing tv commercials today for this event.

it's just too insanely hot to go outside. There's no way for me to convince me to sit in the sun for 4+hrs. any chance they push the finals back to early next week?
