If the guys are playing at Towers, you should go there so you can *gently* get back into the 'swing' of things. If you should feel like coming out afterward, that'd be great, but don't feel like you have to.

Fortunately, there are still many opportunities to observe my fantastic poaching abilities this season!

I came back from a meeting this morning to find this on my desk...

Somehow, this birthday cupcake went horribly, horribly awry.

Like when you go to a fetal position to block the ball back for a winner.. eyes closed and all. Winna!

Or is this an egg reference?

Hey man, whatever works! It isn't easy to hit a tennis ball all curled up like that.

Can I make an advanced order for seafood bisque (without the itch) for June 23?

    Want a cupcake, cupcake?

sorry hollywood. left to run errands for lunch. no seafood bisque. settled for a meatball sub. it was aight. seafood bisque is always greater than meatball sub.

thursday is still up in the air for me -- friend's birthday so i may have to bail on tennis at towers park.

    food coma is coming. . . .

*edit* that cupcake Toe Pez isn't that bad. i'd eat it. not a huge fan of that much frosting though. frosting just slows me down. more cake - less frosting. i think frosting is like putting lipstick on a pig - it just gets in the way when all you want is bacon.

haha.. "like putting lipstick on a pig".. so many levels of humor there.. most to all are in TFM's mind.

On a side note. My semi-retired life includes trying to persuade Shcmad to go out in the heat to hit. That worked yesterday.. apparently not today.

So I'm watching Euro Cup Soccer. Thinking.. who could last that long running around (raises hand).. and who would complain the ball is too light (Pureprestige).. and that Safin doesnt play soccer (Shcmad).. and that koreans got no jump (TFM)... and trip over his baggy shorts (zapvor).. and not come close to the goal net like in a tennis net (topaz).. and fall to his knees in goal victory with a wookie roar (JRSTRIKER).

My uncle played professionally and for a national level. He begged my dad to put me in soccer.. i apparenlty chose tennis. *hangs head*..

I think I need to start running more hills and perhaps get into a running group. There is a hard core running group at my gym. They work on explosive speed and hard core excercises. Most are college athletes. It start tomorrow. Hope it works out.

okay.. enough talk.. see.. I'm bored. I think i need to go back to work.

Sup -- you got mail mofo. also i would never complain that koreans can't jump or play soccer. i think there are a couple of korean professionals playing in euro leagues too. but then i have to remind you that soccer isn't really a sport. it has the POTENTIAL to be a great sport but it's got some silly rules. like the offsides rule. try imaging watching the NBA finals and kobe steals a pass and runs up the floor and is about to dunk and *WHISTLE* -- OFFSIDES. wtf?! i also don't condone sports that people from the special olympics could play and conceivably have an advantage.

Another one! This one made it through transit a bit more smoothly though.

FYI, I don't actually eat these...no way Jose! You don't know where those grubby little hands have been before they touched that cupcake to give to you.

    I like the word, though...cupcake.

    Just fun to say.

IIRC - didn't Korea beat Italy and make it to the semis in the 2002 WC?

Also, isn't Park on Manchester United Korean?

BTW- Love soccer, but I'm not into as much as I used to be. Everytime I watch, I want to play so bad, but can't.

Ah, the koreans can play soccer.. they just normally can't jump.

We can see how high your vertical is.. "does anybody have a quarter for TFM to jump over?"

If you can jump over the net.. I may faint.. or expect the end of the world.. isn't that one of the seven signs (Topaz jumping over a regulation tennis net).

Tell you what.. $30 bucks says you can't do it.. (clean jump.. start from the service line.. no help from blocks or any devices.. and you can't touch the net.. (so clipping it with your waist and flipping over.. doesnt count). 1 try.

Oh and you have to stick the landing.

Geez.. lets make it $50 bucks.. i forget you may have a $20 buck medical deductible.

    hahaahahaha. i love the betting!

i want in. how much are you gonna bet i can't hop over the net without touching the net. starting from the service line. no blocks. no special shoes. nobody throwing me like a midget toss.

    Hmm.. you are korean lite?

Can we say 1 ft from the net.. so no head start. and one footed? ($100 bucks).must use one foot to jump off of.. and the other foot to land.

    One try.. no practice.

    Center post.. regulation.

can't do it one footed.

1 foot from the net. 2 feet to jump off i could probably do. with just one foot i can't possibly launch my fat azz.

my coworkers are wondering why i'm hopping in my office on one foot.

I forgot the short factor. Okay 1 ft away from the net. Standing position. One jump. Must stick landing.

    So squat, jump and stick.

$50 bucks. Side Post. And you must be wearing Jeans. If you accept and chicken out, clip the net, not stick the landing, take a step or shuffle or have any sort of help.. I wint $50.

P.S. Stil asking for Topaz to jump.. She surely can do that jump. May I suggest grass/clay courts and a mattress on the other side. I think she'll clip the net or go through it.

Hmmm, I will ponder it and get back to you.

PS...and if I do take your bet, and lose, are you taking 50 bucks from me? Or do I have to dye my hair some insane color?

PP - are you out in Reston? If you are in Reston, do you want to try to sqeeze in a quick hit Wed from 7-8pm or 7-8:30pm?

Sup - you up for a quick hit around that time?

Non- Reston peeps - I'd invite you, but I need to buy some guest passes.

I think tommorrow is the only day I can hit this week, but I need to stay close to home so I can be back by 8:45 at the latest.

JRS, just saw your post now (~7:15) bout to head out to the grocery though.
But yes i'm in reston, I live very close to the Herndon Monroe P&R in fact hah.

I'd be down for future hits, though I am playing horribly lately. I am ordering some sets of different polys tonight so in 2 days when I get it and string it I should be playing good tennis. :)

Hey, Champ, I'll be in Reston but I'll be playing team tennis Wednesday night at Glade. Wish I could help you out. It's always nice to play a champion. :)

Maybe some other time. I have a couple of guest passes if you need them. Let me know.

Just realized thanks to Shcmad that Wednesday is tomorrow.
In this case, JRS(treaker), I would love to hit. There is a hitch, I don't get off until the Senate actually Adjourns. So I have no clue whatsoever what time I will be off :-(.
If I am off early then i'd be ecstatic to, however I doubt i'll be off early enough to make it. I don't wanna make you wait up or anything, so maybe one of my early days would work better.
Early days I get off at 5. which is Tues/Thurs this week, MWF next week and alternating that way each week. Generally i'm off early every Friday though. So Fri/Sat/Sun are all good days for me.

    I am not amused.

    :|

It is like I'm just not allowed to win a match these days!!!

And my foot hurts. A lot. Thinking of sawing it off, and replacing it with a bionic foot.

This rain also ruined my plans to practice jumping over the net.

Near Herndon Monroe?!?!? Lucky bastage. I get up late so I won't be parking there while they rebuild that POS parking garage over the summer. I'm in Herndon and I have to drive all the way to wheile ave while they repair it. GGGRRRRRRRR!

PP - don't worry about it this week. I'm hitting with my another dude from Reston. We do have to get together for a hit though.

Xisbum, we can hit too. Thursday nights are usually my "free" nights for tennis, but this week, needed to bump it up a night to get a hit in since we are prob doing that B-day dinner thursday.

nope. unfortunately it looks like just a regular pen. the technology is pretty laughable if you ask me. it looks like they just stuck a beam in the throat area, which has been done before.

    Xisbum...

You may want to call Reston about PurePrestige. Non-residents can play, but they have to usually play a reston fee (@270 bucks!).

My suggestion is to use his aunt's address (I think she lives in Reston).. and say he lives there.

    Otherwise they won't allow you.

If they somehow come to their sense about non-residents and the association fee.. then that would be awesome. There are a couple good college kids (male and female).. i would love to team up with.

    Thanks
    Sup

Anyone still want to hit this Thursday? Or is everyone scared of Cameron/Jake/Jughead's tennis skills???

Sup - Let me know when you can string my rackets... if you can't get to them until this weekend it's no problem.

As far as weather goes... storm hits, it starts pouring, power goes out... then the fire alarm goes off. So, ****... now we have to get our two dogs and stand outside in the pouring rain/lightning until the firemen say the coast is clear (about 20 minutes).

The funny thing is, I was watching Cloverfield and right when all hell broke loose in the movie is when all the above mentioned **** happened. I had to look out the window and make sure there wasn't a giant "whatever the hell the thing was in the movie" outside tearing up Arlington.

Whenever you want them. Just let me know. I have a match tomorrow night.

I can swing by tomorrow during the day to drop off your racquet.

You didn't send me an email.

So can you tell me on the post what tension you want the racquets strung at.

Also remember! Natural Gut should not see this type of humidity for an extended period of time. They do awful in this stuff. Also PLEASE don't leave the racquets in your hot car trunk. Think of natural gut like your dogs.. don't abuse them! Right Xisbum?

Start looking, Sup. The brochure says one participant must be a Reston Association Member or Non-Resident Member with a 2008 Pool and Tennis Pass (that's me, I paid the 200+ bucks). The member-guest goes for all doubles, regular and mixed. There may still be slots open, too, since they had trouble filling the singles.

Would be awesome to see you in the first round. You could fix my strings for me before the match. :)

Take a walk back in time. TWMAC chat about the simon cup. The brochure said the same thing, and they denied Topaz entry. Apparently non-resident means to them: You don't live in reston and PAID the reston association non-resident fee (@$270 bucks).

I know it looks otherwise, but its what happened last year. So I would check. Otherwise, PP may be in for a huge entrance fee.

Again, just use his Aunt's address who he is living with. I think she is a reston resident.

Check if you want.. but if you do.. then they will be on the look out.

P.S. Do you have a match tonight?
