You can always search on Tennislink for USTA tournaments, or check with local clubs to see if they are having any tournaments, as well.

Im getting over the 3 set loss, some bumps and bruises, Mashy in Djokes box, and a dismal Redskin offense.

It's a tough Monday for sure.

But at least the Redskins pulled through in the end! Much better than the Eagles!

Masha was there just to see herself on the big screen.

Are you playing dubs with Han next weekend? Will you be able to exact some revenge?

Cali... I'm up in Silver Spring, MD. Where in Mo County are you?

Topaz... I feel your pain, literally! Wish i could offer you some advice on this but I'm not sure any wisdom comming form a guy whose wrist sounds like bubble wrap popping when he rotates it is a good idea :)

Sup... would lvoe to get a hit in on sundays while the weather is good but unfortunatly sunday AMs kind of interfere w/ my other favorite past time - sleep :D

Also I think I'm on the injured reserve list for atleast a week... I rolled my ankle this weekend sliding into a backhand.... damn clay court...

I don't know if I can play doubles :( My schedule is messed up and it sucks that I cannot defend my doubles title.

Oh man, I feel your pain, especially as a fellow musician. Your problem might not necessarily be due to tennis though. I had some wrist popping problems and I chalked it up to waaaay too much strain on my wrist caused by repetitive motion and no breaks for example, playing piano for 2 or 3 hours at a time followed by playing tennis or typing papers is not such a good idea. Anyways I hope it's not serious, you may want to take breaks every half hour or so to rest or stretch your wrist.

Clearly MAC is the best looking TW Chapter! I'm so sorry I never made it out to one of your meets, you guys all seem so nice so maybe next year after I come back, and when I know how to drive. I'm moving in 3 days, so everyone take it easy in DC (and surrounding areas)!

Starlite!!! Ahh, a fellow musician...I knew there was something special about you!

And, I think the MAC chapter would be more than willing to teach you how to drive...heh heh heh!

    Good luck in your move!

so when is the next tourney? I absolutely failed at finding MA tourneys for me ( i don't even know what category i belong in) I definitely want to play in one even though i am out of shape and haven't played tennis in about 3 months. When is your next tourney Han? maybe i'll play in the same one and draw you in the first round. haha

hahaha yea... its the product of a western grip duirng juniors that turned into a wristy semi-western as I got older and countless wrist snaps on a kickserve. mmmmm makes me wanna go reach for an ice pack and an advil just thinking about it :)

Of course they match...well, at least I think they do. Generally, white and black match with everything in my book!

Though, I think we'll have to start calling you Marat. And don't be surprised if ShcMd starts following you around!

Well, I played again last night, and again, no problem, so I think I'm going to forego any ice unless it is actually an issue. Like I said, I think she may just be a bit too cautious. I appreciate it though, that she doesn't want me to get any injuries.

I always get my grips mixed up as to what you call which one, but I think the grip change she is working on me with is western. I'll have to check in my Tennis magazines when I get home for sure. Up until now, I just held the racquet, didn't really care where or how!

    Shcmad,

For the record, I instantly thought the same thing as Topaz above. I just didn't write it fast enough so I didn't want you think I lost my touch.

Safin: "I can't argue you see.. you have all the power"

    The end.

heheh yea no ice is good unless its going on your gatorade :)

as for grips on your forehand, just think of it this way:
continental = palm on top of grip
semi-western = palm on side of grip
western = palm on bottom of grip

thus concludes my lesson for the day ha!

Ok, that's what I thought...yeah, I had a semi-western on the FH, and she's nudging me a bit more western. We'll see how it goes!

Shes nudging you to a full western huh... is she trying to get you to hit more spin on your forehand side?

I always though it was ironic that I never taught too many people to hit w/ the full western during my teaching days despite growing up with one myself :)

I changed my mind about the black shirt. I play with Dunlops so that should be enough to keep ShcMd away. Hmm... it looks like I'm getting a TW water bottle with my order :) TW Rocks!

Yup, more topspin on the forehand, and it has made a big difference already, not just in that but in my whole stroke. I'm not sure if I'm actually full western, or just a little more western than semi-western, though!

lol...it's true that zapvor has a very thin build.

And...about the baby face...I'm trying to get rid of the baby fat on my face but it ain't working. If 2 hrs. of tennis 3 times a week doesn't work, I don't know what will!

Believe it or not there are plenty of TW posters that are bigger Marat fans than I. ;)

Examples: maneater (as you mentioned), SoBad, J-Man, among others...

In particular, maneater is the ultimate Marat fan. She's like a ShcMad to the 10th power.

ShcMad, I don't think you can 'spot reduce' on your face...don't worry, it will probably thin out as you get older.

And yes, I do agree, that maneater is you to the 10th power...but at least you have something to strive for...everyone should have goals! ;)

Awwww, thanks! You're really sweet and good luck with your tennis and everything here. I try to read your blog every once in a while, keep it up, it's really good stuff!

Lol, thanks for the compliments and the advice, I"ll keep that in mind. ;)

Don't be ashamed of the baby face! I'm sure there are some advantages, and some great players out there rock the baby face! ;)

There may be bigger Marat fans out there, but you're the only one we like to tease about it. BTW, that pic of him with Ivanovic is amazing.
