^^hey hollywood, not sure if you take 95N back home, but if you want to make a detour to laurel, i'll play with you. the only thing is that its expensive here. its $30 an hour which is about normal but the guest fee is $16 which is outrageous in my opinion. if you do want to give it a shot, let me know and i'll see if they have any opening on monday.

You do know I meant this monday dec 29 right? If so what kind of time are we talking about? I can do any time really. I just gotta swing by my old job for a couple minutes its not that big of a deal.

Prestige Pro, I think ill pass on the 46 dollar tennis hour. But thanks for the offer. Is that at severn valley? Just kinda curious because most of the guys I know around there actually use Bowie sportfit.

Sappy and Striker we could always skip the tennis and go Bowling down there :)

    YOTW OVER!- It's Official!!!!

Today marks the end of the YTOW.

Had a nice little fender bender this morning in our community parking lot. Person parked their SUV with it hanging into the street and not fully in the driveway. I back up thinking I had enough room....wrong!

    Ugh!!!!!

Bowling - what do you think sap? I'm down.

it's actually at the Owen Brown Bubble in Columbia. I called them today to ask why their guest fees are so high and they said its $16 at the door. But I can prepay and buy 5 passes for $45 bucks. So thats $9 bucks for a guest pass. So then it works out to $24 an hour ($9 + $15) and $34 for two hours ($9 + $15 + $15). So if you're ever in the area and want to hit, just let me know. It's a little pricey but I'm going into tennis withdrawal. I just want to play.

    TFM,

Did you get your new racquets strung up. Last I saw, one was not strung up and the other was holding on by a thread. Just making sure you are covered for Santa Bowl.

P.S. Sappy, no clinic today. Friday I'm booked until 3pm.

    Vitaly, Auzzie, TheJRK, and whoever,

Didn't you guys try out the Head Radical? Was it the Pro version and what were your thoughts?

Anyone else try out the Babolat Areo Storm Tour?

  21. Sup, i have no idea wut my sched is for Sat, so i guess i have to sit this one out. :( (no ka-kaw swinging volleys)

I tried the Head MG Rad OS out w/ Auz recently. It royally SUXXED. Seriously, I am not that picky on racquets, but it felt like a walmart toy. blech!!! I've also used the MG Rad MP before, and it was better but not great.
The best recent Radical I've tried was the FXP Rad Tour. That was pretty awesome, but I haven't tried the Microgel Pro.

Ah, so you tried the Radical Microgel Oversize.

The specs are different than the Radical Pro.

    Oversize
    Head Size:107
    Static W:11.1 oz strung
    Swing W: 318
    String Pattern: 18 x 19
    Flex: 56
    Balance: 3pts HL

    Pro
    Head Size: 100
    Static W: 11.7 oz strung
    Swing W: 319
    String Pattern: 16 x 19
    Flex: 68
    Balance: 4pts head light

The difference in flex is amazing. Usually when a racquet goes that flexy, I would think it feels "dead". Others like it. To each their own.

    Vitaly,

How much you selling your prestiges for? The grip size is 4 5/8s right?

I know you have it on the microgel thread. I'll look it up there if you don't respond.

Hope you still can make it Saturday. Get your revenge, and this time you can bring proper clothes!

Let me know if plans change. I'll leave a space for you.

    Thanks

    sup --

yeps. my new sticks are just as you said. one unstrung and the other hanging on by a thread. threads that are frayed too. you got time friday to string? i can meet you somewhere. maybe tysons corner or so is halfway for ya? i'm likely hitting friday morning with our newest member prestigeprolover up in howard county though.

i've demoed the microgel radical midplus. it wasn't my cup of tea in the slightest. the flex made it feel like a wet noodle. didn't realize such a difference in flex and weight with the microgel radical pro though. those specs are more in line with what i typically like.

merry christmas everyone! finally feels like christmas. post pics of your loot tomorrow peeps - especially tennis related ones.

Sup, I'm sorry about this, but after playing today with Zapvor and PP, I realized that I'm not ready for the Santa Bowl. My confidence is pretty low and my right wrist is not 100%.

Look at this video I took today. I'm shanking 50% of my shots and I'm off-balanced. I should have titled it "N00bs R Us"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nsPuSwHl5c

It looks like you have a formidable team, so I'm not worried.

Supster, if there is room in the Santa Bowl I would certainly be down to play.

Good hitting today ZapAttack and Siccy. Major props to Zapvor for getting us 4 hours of free indoor time because his club was closed! It was quite epic and my hand and rest of my body is quite tired as a result.

I really enjoyed getting a good hit in, unfortunately it was my second hit with my K90 and the strings broke. And I was really liking the way it was hitting too :-/

Zap, NICE SHOES again. I'm jealous, dang. Also, Zap it is good to see you wearing regular tennis attire.

Shcmad, don't get so down on yourself. If you weren't worrying about winning each and every point, you would win a ton more. I've played days where you run/pwn me like Federer does to Ferrer. You better play the Santa Bowl. Just stick with the microgel, tape that wrist, and take a shot of vodka. Then you'll relax and play like a champ.

Big thanks to Zap for the court time. It was an intense hitting session. Zaps' shoes are nice. They're blingy.

Thanks for the kind words, mang. But, I'm gonna have to sit out for this one. You can pair up with the mighty Hollywood, and you're gonna have the "Monster Serve" team. And, my wrist hurts like a bia... If I tape it, I won't be able to hit my forehand at all cuz it'd feel constricted (And you know that 99% of my forehand power comes from the wrist ;)). I never remember running you around like Ferrer. By the way, Ferrer just chooses to run like a grunting mad dog all the time. The guy can blast winners at will.

shcmad whether you play or not i thought you did well today. lots of pace off both sides. it might have gone out but it sounded and looked good. and it went in a lot too.you were making some shots that were impossible. oh but you still cant serve;)

pp was usual pp i think. it was good to see ya again. love the spadea bandana look. oh and thanks for the tips. i think it helped.

ok time to see how awful i look on youtube.

  38. i talked it over with the boss. i should be able to make it for some tennis on saturday. c'mon man, my pajamas RULED the court!

    <praying for no overheads>

sup, I will sell the Prestige Mids for $110 to TWMAC. (sigh)
and the MG rad OS was very light with a crazy light swing weight. add that with a lot of flex and it had no power and felt like a kids racquet. the feel hitting the ball wasn't that comfy or anything either... just blech.

I am almost moved into the new place. Just don't have a sink or countertops, but those should be in before 2009!!!

sorry to hear about the fenderbender JRS... totally blows.. but at least you didn't get some whack job punching your car! oy!

Happy Holidays TWMACers!!!! stay safe and off River Road!!!

Can't really sleep thinking about that big box under the christmas tree...

I actually had the Flexpoint Radical Tour in my bag during the turkey bowl. Happened to be my least favorite out of the three that I demoed (NBlade OS, FXP Rad Tour, and RQiS 1 Tour). It wasn't a bad racquet, but it doesnt feel as good as I thought it would. I was probably expecting a solid, stable, heavier radical. What I got was just a forgettable hit. Nothing really stood out. It was just low-level/ok on everything. I much prefer the FXP Rad MP, but that again is too light (and prob too much flex for your taste).

The AeroStorm Tour was a frame, I was expecting to love as well. That demo week it drifted to the bottom of the preferred demo list. That week I had my new Steffi frame, my extra long anna kournikova frame, Prince Ozone Pro tour, Donnay Pro One Intnl, Aerostorm Tour, and Kneissl Black Star. It was one of my least favorites out of those, and the biggest disappointment. Similar to the radical, I didn't find anything great about it. But on top of that I didn't like the feeling that I had to swing directly up to maximize it's swinging potential (due to the aero design) without having more headsize to work with. I had a good amount of mishits. I also really didn't like the cheap feeling that the cortex gives it. It almost felt like two-piece construction. You may like it, since you are used to both the aero and cortex. In that case, it is just a slightly less stiff, little heftier, more controlled and stable frame compared to the AeroPro Drive. Your preferences in frames are different than mine, so maybe give them a shot if you are interested.

Waste of a frame. Needs a ton of lead to be playable- and that is a major hypothetical. Head needs to stop making them so light. McLovin made a good point when we were hitting, EVERYONE used to have to hit with 13/14 oz heavy frames. Why is 11 oz heavy now?? Talk amongst yourselves...

HW does always come to meets in dapper attire. Hopefully he can make more than a few trips down this way for some hitting...

I remember Nieminen wearing those at last years Australian Open. Still prefer the royal blues. I can't wait to get more Asics shoes... The Lacoste Gravitates are getting more comfortable each time I play, but the traction is still sub par. McLovin was doing a great job of hitting behind me and watching me slip-n-slide.

Plus it is waaaaayyy too light. I prefer heavy wet noodles myself. :)

The video looks like Asian Safin (even down to that backhand stab volley in the clip). You must study his every habit/tendency/non dominant hand motion and try to mimic it exactly. :) I think you should come to Santa Bowl. I know TFM loves the suspense of watching your matches.

I swear I thought all that marketing towards 11 year olds would have paid off in racquet sales...

I can't wait to open that box. I can't wait to open that box.
I am seriously afraid this is going to be me...

Auzzie, you're a kind chap. We wanted to hit with you yesterday but it was a shame that we couldn't. Zapvor went crazy when he heard you wouldn't make it. If you've seen the movie "I Am Legend," try to imagine one of those creatures going nuts on a tennis court.

Someone's not gonna be too happy with my Asian Safin-like form (Ahem, Sup). He wants me to adopt the Gulbis forehand. But, I mean what's the difference? They're both mentally-challenged and hit-or-miss players!

Anyway, I wish my wrist felt better so that I could play in the Santa Bowl, but it's hurting right now. Plus, I don't wanna give the old guy (TFM) a heart attack while he's watching one of my matches.

I can't wait to see what's in that box of yours! haha.

I've demo'd all three MG radicals and I liked the Pro the best. The weight and flex just felt better when hitting. I almost bought the Radical Pro before I demo'd the Prestige Pro and ended up liking it better.

2 cortisone shots later and I realize I need to play with light, flexible rackets. I can hit just as hard (or soft) no matter what racket I use, that's 'cuz I got shotgun barrels for arms son.

I will most likely end up showing up to the Santa Bowl (drunk) to collect my money from TFM and to pay Sup his money... unless Sup wants to take a bet (double or nothing) that the Cowboys beat the Eagles. ;)

Dear Santa - I know my timing is off, but I want those new Nike tennis shoes please!

Vitaly! Awesome that you can make it! Bring your prestiges please.

Shcmad. Tape it up and you will show up. If you don't want to play then cheer us on.. but I think if you see everyone playing you'll want to play.

PurePrestige. Be there and practice your darn volleys.

TFM. I am at S&H from 9-3pm tomorrow. Want to drop it off during that time frame? I'll have it ready for Saturday morning. OR! I'll be in Potomac, MD late that night. Want to meet up then?

    Let me know.

p.s. Remember 11:30 be at the S*H. See you guys Saturday.

Hmmm...Shcmad...your strokes look a lot different on FH side from a year ago when I was there....

However...I think consistency still remains the same...!!

You need to dump all of your Adidas gears and Safin naked pictures on the wall of your room....start over everything!!

Come to Thailand for a month. I guarantee you will be a decent 4.0 player in a month training at my club because of you have all the tools.

-First of all, Merry Christmas, Shintan-san!

-About the Adidas gear and Safin pictures... NEVER will I do that! (Btw, I don't have pictures of naked Safin. Only ones where he's clothed). I'd rather quit tennis than switching to Nike.

-I think Sup, PP, and I need to plan a trip to Thailand.

-I agree that my forehand looks different from two years ago. I hope it's gotten better. From what I know, I've made my swing more compact. I've seen watching some of the old videos you took with your camera, and I've noticed that the forehand definitely looks different. But, you're right that my consistency is the same. LOL. I have a question though, do you think my old forehand is better or the new one?

-Here's one of the videos you took: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGySRvHdsbw

Anticlimactic. Big tennis racquet sized box, and inside.... enough money to buy myself a racquet. I have been trying to figure out how anyone would know what tension, grip size, string setup to put in it. Anyway I guess I actually gotta order the racquet myself now. I was really looking forward to having new sticks for the Santa Bowl. :( But at least I am getting new sticks:)

Sup, Shcmad can lay testament that my volleys were on yesterday when we hit. Though I was playing well with the k90, so I may restring that for the tournament.

Shcmad, if you don't play I will cry, but also call dibs on auzzie as a partner. He said such kind words about my serve lol :)

I kinda want to capture PP crying on camera. Those tears would be priceless. Anytime that he tries to be macho or condescending, I can just show him the video to shut him up. LOL.

To Sup and PP, I will show up on Saturday at 11:30AM. I'll try my best to be ready to play, but you'll have to sub me out in case my wrist starts hurting or if I start to tank the match (aka, being a liability to the team). Anyhow, PP's volleys were good with the K90 yesterday. Until he broke the strings, he played like a chump...I mean champ!
