Yeah, I work for Booz... although I never got that discount that Shcmad was talking about. If I ate there I would always forget about it.

Now that I think about it, I think Booz gets a discount at Sport and Health Clubs.

    TWMACers .. *looks at Sappy*

Anyone up for getting together for one of the games this weekend, to eat way too many buffalo wings and drink way too many beers.

TFM, maybe I can roll up to our haunt in Gaithersburg? Perhaps the Saturday 1pm game (Baltimore vs Miami?) or 4pm game (Philly vs Minn or Atl vs Arizona 4:30 start)

P.S. Bring your wallet for betting. Maybe Magic squares.

I know I would *LOVE* to get together and watch the Philly game! I have a feeling PPL is with me on this one, too! I don't know my match schedule for the tournament this weekend, but I do know just the finals are on Sunday, and I would think they'd be done by then.

As far as a Jan/Feb meetup, I'm good for any weekend except MLK/inauguration madness weekend.

So the short answer was yes. I wasnt sure. Then I started asking Randy questions about times and dates and .... I answer this.

Randy is a nice guy.. just didn't seem that things were in order. I rather not be on stand by and have less of a life than I already do. So I told him I would pass.

wookie -- love the cheap wireless adaptor for the xbox. i have also seen how you can connect the xbox to your laptop and use that as your wireless connection to xbox live. pretty ghetto. my wireless router is already 2 feet from my xbox so for the time being -- no problems in the TFM house.

sup -- let me know if you're gonna be up in g-town on saturday. i can sneak out for an hour or two to watch the game. i think the 4:00 games are more interesting. i think baltimore is going to literally destroy miami. it'll be a debacle.

topaz - as predicted my wife snagged the tennis channel jacket you gave me. she wears it all the time. she says it's uber comfy. next time i see you - i'll buy you a beer. just ask JRK - i'm good for it. :)

    happy new year's eve everyone!

Unfortunately, I've broken strings on all mine (2 of them during the tournament) and I'm out of gut. Its supposed to arrive today, but that doesn't help me at this point, now does it?

How about Friday? Can we get time somewhere? I'm good from 10 - 2.

Also, any news on the M-Comps from Sup?

Other than tfm, do you all live in VA or is anybody in MD? For those in MD, do you play at any clubs that don't charge guest fees? I would like to play maybe this weekend, but my clubs charge high guest fees...in case anyone's available.

IMHO, Rock Creek is probably the best bet if you live in MD, close to DC. Might also look at Cabin John or Wheaton.

Sent an email... Maybe try giving it a shot? I had no luck. I am also going to be getting a price quote on buying in bulk, will let you know what turns up.

    raiden --

i'd also like to play this weekend. i haven't done it in a while but if you are interested there's a tennis club in howard county called Circle D Tennis. i think they're off Georgia Ave if I recall. but on friday nights from 7:00 to 10:00 they have tennis socials. you pay $20 at the door and you play social doubles. the players are a mix of 3.0 to 4.0 players usually - men and women. good fun. you play a set and usually sit out for 15-20 mins. they have an open bar too because liquor and tennis pairs beautifully.

i had thought about attending this friday and i think prestigeprolover was also interested.

as for the other marylanders? hollywood is up in cecil county i think. zapvor i think is somewhere in bethesda. nitefly i think is over by severna i think. those are the ones off the top of my head.

I am a member at Circle D and play there regularly (thursday block). I attend the friday night socials maybe once a month. You actually go to these? I played against a 4.0 guy a few weeks ago named Jeff I believe during the social (he had a brother there as well that day)...does that ring a bell?

There is another tennis club off Gunpowder Rd. (near 29 and 198 ), called Fairland bubble and I just called them and found they don't require a membership fee. You just sign up for a free smartlink membership and just pay court fees when you play.

Also, circle D has a saturday morning 4.0 singles group during the winter time for members. I was considering joining it this year only to find out from a buddy that the quality has been diluted due to alot of 3.0 and 3.5 players playing up in the group.

I've never brought a guest in, but I heard one place charges $16 a guest.

And the place TFM just mentioned, Circle D, someone told me they charge $40/hour (and I think their guest fee is $8 ).

raiden -- haven't gone since last year. probably about this same time since i can't run outside to go play. i have a friend of mine named jeff who's probably a 4.0 player but near as i know he doesn't have a brother.

i'll call the center and as long as they are having the social this friday - i'll go. i'll call prestigeprolover and see if he wants to go too.

also prestigeprolover i think can get $30 an hour at owen brown with a $9 guest fee. might be worth a shot if we can convince hollywood to come down - we have doubles. i'm down for that as well.

who's got plans for new years eve?

I think you should look into Fairland Bubble since membership is free for all (but you have to go there and sign up before you can reserve a court over the phone):
    http://www.pgparks.com/places/sportsfac/tennis.html#Fairland

I might try to go to fairland on friday and set up my account there.

If you or PPL want to play this weekend (S or D), I am available Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning.

Well, I'm glad someone is enjoying it! Maybe you'll get it back after she delivers?

Hmmm, I don't like beer! You'll have to buy me a cocktail, but I won't hold my breath!

I hope you mean inside...the wind has me thinking that my sliding glass doors are going to implode at any minute.

No playing for me today, as I'm finally breaking down and going to the doctor to see if she'll give me something for my plague. *crossing fingers*

I always wanted to get an intern for our office... someone to go over to the Pentagon and pick up a bunch of classified in a briefcase. The problem with that is, I would have to kill the intern when the job was done. ;)

All kidding aside, I do know we have a few interns running around the office somewhere. They usually get offered a job after the internship if they don't mess anything up or **** anyone off. I'll ask around to see what the deal is...

It's pretty damn windy. I basically just opened up my jacket and the wind carried me up to my office, it was pretty cool.

I really hate winter, I go into a depression and my tennis play goes into hibernation mode.

    See everyone in the spring!

I can make an occasional trip down that way. but basically weekends an days off only. And days off it would have be between 10 and 2 so I miss BMore traffic on the way home. But the 325's with VS Gut work pretty well. I gotta try one of the cheaper brands of gut when I string myself. Im afraid ill break the stuff :)

I really have no intention of playing outdoors, but if someone asked, i would not decline the invite...

McLovin, wanna try to set something up for Friday? Maybe indoors somewhere??? I need an MComp fix, because I am starting to feel trigger happy about ordering Seles frames with full Big Hitter Blue @ 68 lbs.

Thats what I thought. I know they have positions for IT professionals, but back when I was looking for a job, I asked someone about Booz and they said that Booz pays well, but that I'd be straying away from engineering work (i do SW eng.) into more of a consulting role, and I should be prepared to wear a suit to work. I said forget that.

It is a consulting firm, and yes you would have wear a suit to work. But Booz has consultants for everything. Two guys I work with are engineers. I don't know what they do exactly, but I know they come from an engineering background.

Now, if you like a job where you are wearing coveralls to work, getting dirty... then Booz isn't the place for you. ;)

It hasn't been established that we are playing at all yet. Its just a TW friendly match, besides I'm a rather weak 4.0 at this point. I'd rather see who's available and then go from there to decide whether its S or D.

I like a job where you can wear a polo shirt and khaki's, and jeans on fridays like my last few jobs. I can't stand wearing a suit because I obsess over whether its going to get ripped or dirty the whole time, and I don't want to deal with dry cleaners and so on. Not too mention I can't afford to purchase suits.

Last time we played it was almost like this. You hurt your ankle too!

The club closes at 6pm today *I think*, so maybe. I'm curious about this Circle D stuff in Maryland Friday night. I do enjoy hitting with TFM and drinking with him as well.

Vitaly... you may be the demo curse. Im glad to inform the general population, that after some calls to relatives wishing them a happy new year in advance *cause I'm sure they wont want me to call the next day with their hangovers*... one had a APDC! I just picked it up for free! Blood runs thick in the mafia.

Anyways, Im curious on what you said Vitaly. So since you are a member of SH, want to hit tomorrow? or Friday morning. I want you to tell me if you can see a difference between the Head Extreme Pro and the APDC.

P.S. Thanks for the correction Raiden. Ravens on Sunday. Gotcha. Think you can come out for a brewskie, tennis and a game? The ultimate trifecta (sp).

Ripped or dirty?!?! What the heck are doing at work, playing WWE?

Jeans are a big no-no here. Of course, I'm just talking about my office, but there could be a relaxed dress policy at other locations. I doubt it though... you have to maintain the firms image.
