Sent you an email. Beer and football? 4:30. I got big money on the game.

P.S. great idea. I have a camera but lets do a review of our current racquets. Maybe next week?

I just broke a pair of strings on my Prince Shark MP. I am going to bring three racquets: Prince POG Mid, Prince TT Warrior MP (Severely cracked), Dunlop mfil 200 MP. Not the best selection but hopefully one of the other two has a better stick for you.

Dude, take that tripple expresso coffee mug off the caps lock button. ;)

Oh... and add me to the list for testing the racket's off-center hits.

JRS: "This racket's flat beam was really great for smacking winners off the frame!"

So I finally met some TW MAC peeps today. I played doubles with TFM, Hollywood, and PrestigeProLover. Turns out I already knew PPL from Combo league and from my captain's practices last spring. It was alot of fun. TFM was killing my second serves and I was struggling to hold serve, but Hollywood and I did pretty good overall. TFM and PPL came off strong in the third set, but we ran out of time.

My groundstrokes were great today, but volleys felt a little off. TFM and Hollywood are pretty solid players. PPL will be a solid player soon, and reminds me alot of myself about 2 years ago. Good potential but just needs to keep grooving the strokes and things will click together. My 3.0 Nationals captain has already got a hold of him. PPL, thanks for the beer. Thanks all for playing.

Nope, sorry no pics. It was a good time, and I like the facility because they have a bar and we drank an after-match beer. I can't believe that PPL was someone I already knew.

    McLovin,
Have you ever strung up your frames with a full set of CyberFlash? What's the highest tension you strung it with? How does it compare to CyberBlue?

    *yawn* morning TWMAC.

raiden -- thanks for setting up the doubles yesterday. great fun. you have some nice strokes. forehand is pretty much automatic and the backhand didn't look like too shabby either. in any other group your serve would probably be top notch but the TWMAC has a ridiculous proportion of big servers like hollywood, pureprestige, JRK, and vitaly. come out to one of our next meets when sup brings his radar gun. it's humbling.

PPL - don't apologize. thought we played pretty well. we really just ran into a better combo. raidenwood or hollyraid just outclassed us. sometimes you just gotta say, too good. let me know next time you go to social friday.

I missed way too many first serves yesterday. At least I didn't double fault that much. My second serve can usually hold me over, but not too well against you. Also you have quite a heater that I'm surprised you didn't use more.

Have you or hollywood been radar'd before? If so, what was your fastest?

Raiden You didn't get to witness TFM top notch kicker. When his kicker is working he can really sneak the hard one in there, which makes them much more effective.

I didnt get to see you play a whole lot, but your strokes were very solid. Next time we do it I wanna be on the opposite side to witness the guy who gets mover from 3.0 to 4.0. That's quite a big jump there :)

I will also wear long sleeves next time we play there (which is hopefully soon) becasue it was a little chilly and my shoulder never quite loosened up.

PPL, you played very well don't get discouraged. I was the same way (and still am) as I would find myself doing everything right to win the point, but not wining it.

Boys...if you talk of kick serves, do not leave Mr. Han out of the conversation, though he hasn't been in lately to say hello.

Vitaly...Randy sprained his ankle in his first match yesterday. He spent all of today hobbling around and refusing to sit down and rest it despite my *encouragement* to do so (not to be confused with nagging!). I have a feeling, despite his macho bravado, that he will not be doing a lot of moving on the court for a while.

I had a long weekend. I had a tournament! Started yesterday out with singles, in the preliminary round robins. There were three of us in my group -> me, a 19 yr old (who I played in the doubles final last time), and a 15 yr old. Ok...*singing*...which one of these things do not belong*???

Both kids were students of Randy's, though I know the 19 yr old started with Carol. I pretty much thought I was toast, especially since I had a horrible, horrible loss on Thursday in a practice match. We shall not talk of it. I still lost, 5-8 (8 game pro-sets), but it was probably one of the best matches I've played in singles...EVER. Next up was the 15 year old, and I went up 5-1!!! She was pretty much dumping everything into the net, and made it pretty easy for me, though I had a game plan, and was trying my *best* to stick to it. And then, predictably, the wheels came off, and I lost 6-8. To say I was a bit tuckered and pissed off was an understatement. I was even questioned to whether or not I tanked the match! My gosh, I'm so desperate for a singles win, plus Topaz does not Tank! Topaz may wig out (sure) and totally melt down (no problem), but Topaz does not Tank!

Next up was doubles, round robins again, only there were four teams in each group. My partner and I won our first one 8-3, though it felt tougher than that. Our opponents were two lovely Japanese ladies who were pretty fearless and pretty fast around the court. Next one we also won 8-3, pretty routine. Next up were two ladies that I knew from a tournament I played over the summer, and I knew at least one of them would be super tough (especially when I noticed her racquet of choice was an APDC!). Sure enough, it was a nail biter, but we took it in a tie-break, 8-7 (8-6).

I was pretty tired last night!

So, we advanced to the single elimination semis today, and came out really strong against a very spunky gal and a super accurate lobber. They fought back, it was very tight, and once again, we won the tie break 8-7 (7-4).

That put us in the final against one of my *other* doubles partners 'Mashona' and her partner 'Y' (who I partnered with last time we had this tournament in doubles, and we lost in the final to the 19 yr old and her younger sister). So, yes, that means I have, at one point or another, partnered each person on that court! Again, my partner and I came roaring out, taking a 3-0 lead by exploiting and kind of luring the other two into overhitting and making errors. We just tried to play solid, high percentage doubles. Then, Mashona decided she was going to take the net, and let me tell you, Mashona hits *hard*. As hard as many guys I know. Y was still making errors and at least giving up some easy put away balls when we pushed her deep, but Mashona is also a former sprinter, and ran down at least five would be winners. They fought back, and eventually took the title at 8-5.

So, I know have two completely identical women's advanced doubles 2008 finalist trophies. *scratching head* Yes, I think we got leftover trophies!

Sup also ran another great clinic this morning...not sure why you guys aren't just sucking it up, setting your alarm, and coming out and playing! Oh well, more room for me and my mixed team (and trust me, we neeeeed it!). Well, except for the wookie. He's our ringer!

topaz is correct. the king of kickers is currently mrhan. doesn't post very much lately -- anybody seen him around? but his kicker is nasty enough but then you throw in the fact that he's a lefty. it's filthy mcnasty.

i need sticks. my hand is getting all torn up trying new sticks. everyone seems to have either huge 5/8 grips that they then build up to even huger proportions or i get these 1/4 grips that feel like toothpicks. beggers can't be choosers though. meh.

anyone know if we got some warmer weather coming in anytime soon?

JRS with a "L" in the USTA mixed dubs (3-6, 2-6).

Couldn't get the magic started and they had a solid team with a much better female player.

We actually got something going when when switched to two back, but they they started dropping it shot to my partner who didn't have the muscle to but those away.

Go thing I learned though is I have to get ultra aggressive again. we sat back too much and defended, but in the "we've got time left set" I got back to the old "attack!!" mindset and it work wonders.

SI has a cracked bumper. Not to sad about it. Runs fine, just a bit scrapped up. Still in good shape considering it's a 2000 model. First car I ever bought. LOL!

I know it's early in the season, but I'm thinking this may be Murray's year - http://www.tennis.com/news/news.aspx?id=154042

Anyone one who has game to beat Fed AND Nadal - even in an exhibition could be a serious threat his season.

Drak, great video. Don't make me fire up my Macs and respond. The least we see of Zap's basketball outfits and TFM's muscle shirts the better.

    JRS,

    YOTW .....don't call it a comeback? ....

P.S. I dont think its the demise of the wookie's luck. More a resurgence of everyone else's luck.

Thanks for the birthday wishes boys! Nothing says 'happy birthday' like going back to work! At least my (other) boys gave me a nice early bday present yesterday when they beat the Vikings. The avatar gets to stay for at least a bit longer! *high fiving PPL*

McLovin, I have two words for you...spring break!

    Drak, I'm 34.

Vitaly, look back in the thread a bit, I did a whole wrap up of the tournament. Don't know who won the guys, though, but I think Randy is going to send out an email with results and pictures.

happy b-day topeezy. if sup did a better job recruiting ladies in the sausage fest we call the TWMAC we'd have more people to pick on. instead by default we have to pick on you. aww bummer. the good news is that the YOTW is over and we can go on with returning order to the universe.

#1 on my list of returning everything to the natural order is taking down all the fools who wanna wear the TFM crown. so JRstreaker, hollywood, raiden, topaz, JRK, vitaly, Schmad, ferris bueller, bert and ernie -- set it up. you'll never see me any fatter and slower and dead sexier than i am now. i don't even have racquets. don't matter. my new year's resolution is to chew bubble gum and kick azz. and i'm fresh out of bubble gum.

i got baby boy coming any week now. wife weighs about as much as a volkswagen beetle. i'm scheduled to get snip snipped. i haven't had enough coffee today. i still think auzzie and i got jobbed by bad calls in the santa bowl. i got a house full of refugees. someone keeps eating my dark chocolate that i hide. and i'm ornery as heck. :)

sup - buy me a beer. oh and i think you are calling my old phone. new number. email me.

I'm curious. Is YOTW based upon the Gregorian calendar or the Chinese calendar? Because if its the latter, we still have another 5 or 6 weeks until its over...
