thx doooood. it was good acta practice because this guy is a master of giving NO PACE. we were using dead balls and he was slicing everything. normally i lack patience and overhit trying to hit a winner... but since i am slightly more confident about hitting groundies, i was just making him run a bit more and if he really gave me a crap short ball that i couldn't attack, i would just play a "hustle ball" and retreat to the baseline and re-start the point.
this guy is no 4.5, but he has some really crafty passing shots. i've beaten him before, but not demoralized him like today. he kept saying he had nothing left in his bag of tricks! pushers used to prey on my inconsistency, but it appears i have gotten a bit better. cool! clinics and TWMAC hitting done Viktorrr good.

no more beer in fridge. SVOLOCH!
my RQIS sale fell through. MUDAK!

    oh well.

    did you hit today Auzzter?

Nice... I've decided to skip out on ACTA this year, save that drama for my baby mama. My captain has been e-mailing me asking if I'm gonna return but I kindly declined. What's up with us getting bumped to number 2 dubs? See ya Tuesday night.

DVI - I'll put ya in touch with my former ACTA captain if you want to play. You can take my spot! Just be warned, if you play well you will be rewarded with having only women partners... for the whole season! The captain is a cool girl though, cute blond type. In fact, she won the ACTA tourney last year. The guy who won the men's division was also on my team.

    Do the HUSTLE!

I love teaching that shot. 50% of the folks I teach it to look confused, while the others see the "light". Thankfully the Ukranian tornado saw the later. Be like Murray (Except against Nadal in today's final).

Keep up the good work. See you Thursday for our flight.

sup -- even compared to your leaded APDC - i'd be surprised if they feel even remotely the same. but i wonder if you'll hit a heavier ball (insert TFM castration joke at my expense) with these new prince exo rebels.

also i enjoyed your critique of topaz and the skunk. i have also noticed that in drills and clinics - the topaz is rock solid. so the ability is definitely there. must be something between the noggin. i betcha it's dealing with children for 40+ hours a week that has rotted the mental acumen. and the skunk does have the best footwork of the lot of us -- even better than twinkletoes cabbage lover DVI. she also hits a lot harder than her sleight frame would suggest. just imagine if she ate a sammich or a HOT POCKET!

auzzie -- i'm kinda relieved someone else had pretty good experiences with the mp tour 1 98. i went with something i figure would be in my wheelhouse as far as weight and swingweight and balance. course i thought i did that with the tfight vo2 max but that was a debacle. i know i just don't wanna catch up to you in the demo madness.

in an attempt to hold onto these new sticks for a while along with the new switch to team adidas -- i bought new yonex and adidas gear. my motto has always been -- it is better to look like you know what you are doing than to know what you are doing but not look good.

My APDC is leaded up in several places. When i checked the specs of the Prince it seemed to be in line. Regardless, its yellow, its cool and I should be able to play with most racquets. Maybe I'll just pretend to have a potent stick (insert TFM joke).

Looking at your new Adidas shoes.. I almost had a retro commercial moment.

Very very sad TFM you bought Adidas.

We get together and usually play round robins or have a mini-meet .. where we practice and just hit around.

So "el jefe"'s answer: When we have meets, we play competitive ... unless your Sappy .. then you play quick just to eat and drink.

Are you looking for a competitive hit? We have a bunch of members around the area. If you are looking for a casual hit, we have a lot of those as well.

    TWMAC is a good bunch.

the question -- i would say casual. sup organizes a meet every other month or so and we play round robin doubles usually and that gets very competitive but it's all for fun. the rest of the time we meet up in smaller groups and just hit.

i believe our current range of players is from 3.0 to 5.0+ with the majority in the 3.5 to 4.0 range. you should come out and hit with us if you can. if you are in towson -- we have a couple of players in howard county and montgomery county and one crazy yahoo in cecil county i think (?).

Thanks guys. I'm just looking for causal play, since I'm old and rusty...

Is age a factor? Since I'm over 30. And it would nice to some of you guys. Please keep me posted if I miss something, thanks.

Age is no factor. The majority of us are over 30. Keep up with the thread. There is a possible bbq meet on April 18th.

Sup -- if you can't drink while you're in florida - is it still fun? if a bear takes a dump in the forest and no one's around -- does he still make a stink?

The Question -- the majority of us are all 30+ years old. feel free to email me if you wanna hit. i'm in montgomery county. my new old used racquets are coming in the mail this week and i'll wanna try em out. maybe we can hit.

Sap -- rough weekend. come down for coffee and donuts.

    Arrangments have been made.

I know Sup has some spiky shark...is super smash spikey something different? I'm tempted to try it based on the cool name alone.

DVI - send me an e-mail later today reminding me. I can't promise anything though. You may also want to pursue JRK's team.

Congrats on beating Mr. Slice and Dice "VIKTOR!!!!!!!!"

RE: #2 dubs - It's practice league so whatever. I think the capt is playing so he took the #1 spot.

I tried it. It was "meh." Felt like a pretty average string to me.

IMHO, the textured wore off pretty quick. Feel was average, spin was average, power/control was average. IIRC - it was kind of stiff.

I think it was kinda cheap though, so it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

    TFM,

You already tried it out. Remember that Kblade I had strung up and you borrowed. That was super smash spikey. I remember you saying you didn't like it at all.

sappy -- muahahahaha. that was hilarious and sick at the same time. i like how the poor guy tried to suck it up fo a second before crashing to the floor. good fun. another good reminder why i play tennis and not fight in an octogon ring.

sup -- ahh. didn't realize i had already tried the super smash spikey. it's what my new, old sticks are strung up with. will likely have to cut it out before i kill myself. but i'll definitely give em a ride first.

anyone use a tennis backpack instead of the traditional tennis bag? i picked up a tennis backpack for the first time. i figured you throw it on and go.

Also, the dude from your Sunday clinic (the one that lives in my building), plays with a Hammer 6.2 (skunk) right? I think he was hitting on the court next to me and DVI last week. I forgot to mention this earlier... I should've asked the dude if he knew you.

If you like 1st generation polyester strings, you will love the Kirschbaum Super Smash; however, not a lot of people do. A lot of people associate polyester with ALU Power and the likes of it, but those came after this early generation poly, so they play a lot more softer and lose less tension. Kirschbaum, on the other hand, is a hardcore, early-gen polyester string. In other words, it's stiff and loses loads of tension but plays really well until that point (At least I thought it was a great string -- until I started sailing balls after 2 hours of hitting)

From what I know, you already have arm problems (and also problems down there ), so don't use Super Smash if you don't want it to get worse.

lol. not a lot of people liking the tennis backpack thing huh? i wasn't talking about the whacksack but i guess it's not terribly manly either way. i think i'm just tired of lugging around a big tennis bag especially when for a while i had ZERO racquets. seems silly and pointless. and even now that i will have racquets to put in a bag . . . it still seems kinda pointless to lug around a huge bag when i'm not playing a tournament where i need multiple racquets. when you guys see my ultra manly tennis backpack try not to snicker behind my back. :(

schmad / PPL -- hahaha. you haters. i betcha you'd both like a backpack if you added a bunch of unnecessary lead to it at say 12 o'clock, 2 o'clock and 4:35 PM to match all the unnecessary weight on your sticks.

TFM, I use a Wilson tennis backpack. I love it. I would not be caught dead with a whacksack, however.

I also have the big super six, which I usually only use during the season (when I'm playing 600 matches per week) and/or for tournaments.

But the backpacks are also good for traveling. Every time I've traveled with my racquets, in the backpack they go, so it is also my carry on.

Mine is the black/silver and non-eco version of this:

    http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageBGWILSON-WECOTGBP.html

I bought it and the super six off of Sup when he left the Wilson family.

hahaha. brgrflpr -- i rather liked your babolat backpack. even if it doesn't quite match your sticks. i've also seen Sup2dresq sport a backpack. looks kinda simple. you got your 1 or 2 sticks that you need and that's it. no need to lug around a dozen racquets when i doubt ANY of us ever pop strings more than once a session.

and no -- i don't want a man purse too. you keep your fruity man purse to yourself.

also brgrflpr -- if i get my sticks this week - i'll be wanting to play. may wanna take another morning off and hit. same location. 5 sets.

backpacks work fine.... there was a 5.5 guy at S&H that almost one the open tourney that carried his racquets in this canvas bag.
and the best player i know carries 2 wilson tour 90s and just throws them in the ground. no bag needed!
but i have a matching yonex 6 pack bag for 20 bucks if you want more room.
