    PPL,

Have you been drinking soda and eating mcdonalds?

    Topaz,

No worries, your racquet will go to a great charity in your name:

Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too

p.s. don't suck up all the emotion. Your racquet will be strung up tonight and you'll have it for tomorrow's clinic.

    Hey TFM,

I just hit with the Prince racquet. I like it. It's a combination of the APDC leaded up and the accuracy of the K90, without the weight.

I can live with my choice.

    Can you?

    disagree

clunker matches come from lack of depth. and the depth on the ATP is amazing. it is very thin in the wta.

#92 HEWITT vs #96 Kei NISHIKORI = GREAT MATCH

#92 VOSKOBOEVA, GALINA vs #96 ZAKOPALOVA, KLARA = who cares

    but the better point is:

#92 HEWITT vs #9 GONZALEZ = GOOD MATCH
    #92 VOSKOBOEVA vs #9 PETROVA = CLUNKER

    Men's matches are entertaining.

    Women's matches can be entertaining.

Watching Shcmad and PP rally helps if you have ADD but not so entertaining.

Watching Sappy conquer a buffet systematically can be amazing.

And finally, watching TFM change his racquet and pay Sup 1/2 the money for a new racquet WILL be hilarious.

    That is all

You know that Murray vs. Nadal match was pretty boring. It was hyped up well, so you kept it on expecting more .. just never delivered.

It was all show and no substance (insert TFM joke)

You stated they shoud have the same "perks" as the men. "perks" would include pay?? or am I missing something???

Your buddy, Love Game, had everyones posts on the subject matter deleted. She likes to dish it out, but can't take the heat. Again, another example of "equality" in the eyes of women.

As well as pay. Surely you don't believe that Billie Jean Kiing wanted the women to be paid in "RESPECT DOLLARS".... Money, are not only part of the "perks", they are also a status symbol to show they are "equal". But we all know that isn't the case, because they are actually being paid more for playing less.

I **know** you already saw this when I posted it in the other thread before the mods decided to delete everything:

The prize money at Indian Wells was $4.5 million for both men and women. The prize money for performance was not equal, however.

The women’s champion won $700,000, while the top man won $605,000. The women’s finalist won $350,000, and the men’s won $295,500. Semi-Finalists were paid almost equally; women received $150,000 and the men received $148,100.

Again, the women are being paid more, even when they are both playing best of 3. Surprised you are not outraged by this. Aren't you the one fighting for "equality" and both should get the same "perks"????.. <<crickets chirping>>

i just saw the highlights and i saw some wonderful tennis by Nadal and Murray tried to come to net which was at least a strategy (fed?), but his volleys weren't crisp enough and Nadal ran everything down. Superb tennis by the Nads, imo.

    REBEL questions:

is SUP's hair going to turn into a strange Monfils dread-fro? wut is that hair style?
will he start sliding on hard courts and do the splits to end every point??
will he do the Soulja Boy "SUPerman dance" after his victories???

I know most women like to give their 2 cents. Does that make us guys richer by default?

Really? Maybe I should be concentrating my coaching skills towards my god daughter than my godson. Better money! lol.

I can only achieve that hairstyle with a paperclip and an eletric outlet.

I float.. sliding is only for clay and when Rick isnt looking.. his fun slide in his room.. I dare not touch his special swing....

Monfils does a superman dance. Is that what they call it. Nice. My superman dance is close to the "lawnmower" with a little "turn the wheel" motion.

    TW BBQ - April 18th

    Okay guys,

Time to get together to welcome Spring, eat a lot of food, and be thankful we survived the YOTW.

So the date that seems to be ahead in votes is April 18th, Saturday.

Right now I will accept location suggestions. The facility should have 1) tennis courts 2)picinic area with bbq rights and 3) bathrooms!

    Thanks Sup

Well, when I played last year I paid one fee. The organizer said I was covered for the whole year. I don't remember what I paid but it was pretty cheap for the whole year... 40 bucks if I remember correctly.

ACTA is a cheap way to get some court time but I never felt like the competition was that good (not that I'm good) but I'm a masochist when it comes to tennis. I want to play people who can double bagel me, not people I can beat even when my partner is 200 lbs overweight and can't move more than 2 feet in any direction.

    Drak,

I think you are attacking the work less issue too much here. I think you need to figure out attendance numbers and TV Ratings. I bet from a pure revenue standpoint the ATP will generate tons more cash flow that the WTA.

But its america dude, where the haves (ATP in this case) have to sacrifice for the have nots (WTA).

Hopefully Topaz aint taking this anger/frustration out on her students.

Sup -- i can't believe that you think i would mcbail on my new sticks. that's really just not in my nature. i think i'm going to be very happy with my yonex mp tour 1's for a long time. i estimate that time to be 1 day longer than your love for the exo3 rebel yell.

also -- i would imagine your new prince sticks give you more pop or lets you hit a heavier shot but are you finding similar spin?

regarding the atp vs wta. i thought it was pretty much a given that we can't talk about religion, politics or why the wta pretty much blows outside the top 10 players (and even within the top 10) and they are overpaid for what they bring to the table.

TFM Are we allowed to talk about how I could step right in and dominate if I played in the WNBA. When I was in Hawaii I destroyed a girl who played at either washington St or the University of washington.

Also she was the dirtiest player I had ever faced. everytime you went to take a shot she (not being able to actually jump to block a shot even though she was 1 inch taller than I) would just shove you in the waist to lose your balance.

In the world of womens sports WNBA is the worst. Awell coached varsity high school team would destroy any team in the WNBA. If I wanted to watch WNBA i would just watch a JV basketball game that i videoed at half speed.

When half (may be underestimating)the mainstream buzz about WTA is how hot looking the women are you know there aint much substance to be had.

It may take a little longer than that. But when i worked at nike the duke womens volleyball team came in the store. And I can accuratly say that at least half of the team was full blown lesbian. In the WNBA that number is closer is 70%. on the WTA id probably guess 35-40%

I can say that becasue at the time my assistant manger was a praticing homesexual so he can spot his own :)

Seeing as we can throw down at Wakefield soon, there's no need to join ACTA.

You still doing USTA this spring? We could team up for some dubs.

H-Dub - we still have the battle of the backhands for a can of US Opens on the line.

No disrespect to the Ukrainian brotha from anotha motha, but when you have 50+ mile/hour wind gusts blowing at your face and around the court, it's not the easiest thing to hit crisp put-away volleys. Needless to say, Nadal probably has the best passing shots in the current game, and hits with more sidespin than anybody out there. Factoring in all that, there wasn't much Murray could do at the net...let alone hit put-away volley winners. (I'm saying this because I was saddened that Murray lost :()

I'm kinda on the fence for USTA this year. I didn't really have a lot of fun last year (partners not showing up, partners playing terrible, not enough practices, etc.)

I kinda want to conduct an experiment this year... no leagues or anything. I'll just attend Sup clinics on a regular basis and play whoever will play me (quit ducking me Auzzie ;)) so I can get some match experience.

Then, at the end of the year (fall timeframe) I'll play a few tourneys and such, and I want to see if my game has improved.

Lord Sup - Will you take on a dark apprentice?

    <end Star Wars reference>

    **Edit**
The reason for the above mentioned strategy is that I feel like just playing matches in USTA or ACTA or whatever, doesn't help me get better. In a match, I just keep doing the same thing over and over again, regardless of outcome because I have no Plan B. I serve as hard as possible... if it comes back over I just smack that ball into the net. On the next serve I just serve harder, rinse and repeat.

Ok, boys...I think I need to clear a few things up.

Some of you may have missed the posts RE the Lenten promises between me, Sup, and PPL. One of the things I had to give up was my 'soapbox', particularly in reference to posts about women's tennis.

Drak posted in here this morning because I posted some things in a different thread in response to that one quote that I put in here. I responded in here because that is where I knew both Sup and Drak (and PPL, too) would see it...even though Sup called me out on the 'soapbox' in that other thread. The 'action' didn't really happen in here, so I know a lot of you were very, very confused. I'm sorry about that.

I'm not mad or upset at anyone...least of all my TWMAC guys (well, at least not today! ;) ) Thanks for your kind words and maybe even a kind email sent privately (you know who you are!). I was just trying to post about what lead me to break that part of my Lenten dealio.

Drak, the part referencing the racquet was that we lose a racquet if we break before Easter.

Probably shouldn't have dragged this into our thread, so I apologize. Carry on, carry on...

WTA vs. ATP: so many issues ...

WTA vs. ATP: so many issues ...

I don't buy the "same pay, for more work" argument. For example, many of us aren't paid by the hour, we are salaried. We provide a service/product for a fixed price. I don't think the metric for tennis work should be hours. For 2001, ATP attendance 5.9 million and $83 million prize money; WTA attendance 4.67 million and $50 million prize money ... just one out-of-date metric but it is interesting ...

What’s more fun to watch? To the trained eye (like mine :))obviously the men tennis players can do so much more, but some people don't care. College basketball and football don't compare to the pros talent-wise but they still bring in $$$ ...

As for post on an open forum: definitely more emotion/opinion than analysis ...

JRK won't be here (he will be off trying to make babies in Vegas) so his place is out.

I've got a place I tried once before.
Spring Lane Park right off Columbia Pike.
It has 2 courts, a hitting wall, picnic benches, and grills.
However, last time I tried to hit there the courts that
i thought were secret, had 10 vietnamese? guys on them.
if we could "take over" the courts... it would be a great
TWMAC spot. i am very sad that others have found the
    courts though. sniff.

It can always be a plan C though.

i can check to see if we can reserve like A-town does.
Tennis courts at all other Park Authority locations may be reserved by groups for "long term" use or tournaments for a nominal fee. For information please call 703-324-8516.

dunno wut the nominal fee is....

    Thank you.

Glad to know we cleared the air before your visit to Drak's castle, or you would have spent a miserable time down here tied to the toilet by your hair. :)

Also, glad to know you have finally acknowledged the women are over paid.  :)

Drak no body is overpaid IMO. Somebody thought they were worth that and they paid them justly. Even if that person is an idiot :)

Also I am good for the 18th of April. Except this time I will not bring a grill or cook anyhting or do pretty much nothin except bring my no volleying self there with a case of Natty Bo's
