does the skirt have strategically placed jewels too?? i'm not the hothouse flower type, but my natural gut-strung racquet is--and we don't like playing in the rain...

no, it's "pink crush" and now i feel bad because the captains are really, really, really kind and thoughful women. maybe next year i'll give up snark for lent...

just how mandatory do you suppose team "uniforms" are? i can live with team "colors," and i already have a black skirt and a black tank. i'll even buy a rose-colored bra to peek through. oh! i know! i can get a stick-on bindi! in pink!

Not sure about a BBQ set up yet, so assume you can make something and bring it. So something to keep it warm or warming trays would be ideal. Just like last time.

There is a bit of confusion due to the posts regarding who is bringing what. So if you see something that you can bring, please post or repost.

Naw, it is white with little gold polka dots...came across it on a sale rack at one of the clubs around here. It isn't something that I would normally get, but I liked it! Haven't actually worn it yet, though.

Not sure how 'mandatory' uniforms are...but I don't think they'll send you home if you aren't wearing it! Maybe just do the top and your own bottoms? This is why I like just doing colors...then each person can find what they like and are comfy with in the color scheme.

I think we should talk about make-up now...or maybe shopping...to even out the 1000 pages of video game talk I have had to put up with in the past! ;)

god, i admire your perseverance...has it translated to supernatural on-court endurance?

one last clothes comment. i LOVE the new fila pleated skirt: the stretchy top bit actually lays flat around the waist, and the pleated hem? it's woven microfiber! so the pleats are actually *crisp* pleats, not mushy knit pleats!! now that's what i call smart design.

ok. tomorrow, we can talk about make-up. i need to find a sunscreen that i can commit to, and not hate in the morning...

I dont know nothiong about skirts, but the last few pieces of Fila clothing I have purchased are very well made. So it does not surprise me they make good stuff.

I have yet to take a chance on thier footwear though. Although Im getting closer to doing so

Hey, you are not the only one who gets bored with the x-box talk. Don't understand any of it, so none of it interests me.

To be fair, the same should be said of make-up and shopping. However, please keep discussing those rose-colored peek-a-boo bras. Those sound promising.

Really? Hmmm...... I need to go back and check the line-up e-mail. Make sure I show up at the right time.

Dats - you got e-mail access? Can you take a look at the line-up and confirm pairings/time? I cant get to yahoo from work.

I always look at Fila, but I don't have very much (one top, I think) of their stuff...I do like that new black, green, and white group that people wore at the Aussie Open.

Hmmm, for sunscreen I have Neutrogena for Faces, and then I usually just use some kind of spray for the rest of the body. I have to be careful with the stuff I put on my face, because I wear contacts...that whole stinging feeling as the sunscreen drips into your eyes is not good!

HW...I had Fila shoes once. Didn't like them much, and they fell apart pretty quickly. They were the Torneo line.

Xisbum...I figure this is better than Sappy, TFM, JRK, and JRS having 'controller' envy!

I hope we do get to play this weekend! I have a new BH slice to show off (thanks to Sup)...beware! Muwhahahahah! ;)

Dats and JRS, yes, you guys may want to check those start times...like I said, in the fall it was the women's and men's doubles first (10am), and then the mixed afterward...but double check, don't just go on what I remember from last fall.

For the rest of us, this means that it will be tough to get on Wakefield's courts on the weekends...will have to wait until ACTA is all finished...usually not until 1-1:30ish.

    -Nitefly -
I'm going to be in DC around 1pm.

Let me know if you want to meet up for some eats.

    two-oh-two two-seven-oh thirty-eight thirty-seven

    -Topaz -

I'm really regretting signing up for ACTA now. I can't stand the format where you have to wait for the other match to finish. It's fine if you have the time, but I don't (in general).

I'll still give it a shot though. Give it a half chance before I bail.

-Sup - Looks like no wookie at the tennis-BBQ. Depending on the location, I may stop by to say hi though.

me thinks sup is secretly teaching topaz in hopes of the defeating tfm in her dora challenge to use as leverage to the racquet bet

Well, JRS, if you're playing at 10am, you won't have to wait around. All depends on who they are letting go first, but I guess they do that so they won't hog up too many courts (only two instead of four, but for a longer time).

Like I said previously, with how many USTA teams I play on, also doing ACTA in the spring is quite futile. So I passed, but may do it again in the fall.

I've been working with Sup for a long time now...nothing secret about it.

But TFM has already said he won't play the challenge because of the bet (excuses, excuses).

    So, I propose this:

Will TFM and SUP consider a 'break' from the bet so that TFM can complete the Dora/k90 challenge? Both parties must agree. TFM can play the challenge, and Sup can play with whatever racquet he wants, but during the meet *only*. After the meet, bet is back ON.

    TFM? Sup?

Lol, nice try HW, but it isn't up to you...it would have to be mutually agreed upon by both Sup and TFM, but if one of them says no, then you can repost your stamp of disapproval!

Really doesn't matter to me, was just thinking this would be a way to get TFM to show up for his own challenge.

Yeah, I don't understand all this piano envy stuff, and never did quite comprehend Freud - you're either comfortable in your skin or you're not.

Oh, well. Guess boys will be boys. And now you have some active feminine companionship on the thread (Skunk's participation was sporadic). Good for you (and her). I just have to find some purple and green court stuff to wear now that we have some fashion besides ASICS shoes and NIKE logos.:)

not really.. tfm beating topaz is expected so it's just laugh and giggle factor for him.. but beating sup would be on another level on it's own in addition to the laugh and giggle factor. there's blood in the water and tfm is going in for the kill. i suspect he'd be laughing like a japanese school girl at the end of the meet.

    youtube it

    edit:
it's easy to see who topaz favors even when she's trying not to favor.. double

    Hollywood -- hahahhaaa. exactly. denied.

Topeezy -- like i want Sup to use another racquet for the meet this weekend. hecks no! i want him to play with his lovely prince racquet for all of us to see firsthand him suffering. peeps can also see firsthand how much i love my new yonex's and how great i play with em. i think maybe that's what Sup is waiting to see. once he sees how much i likes em . . . he'll crumble like a house of cards.

the dora/k90 challenge ain't going nowhere. makes me wonder though if you've been practicing with the k90? i have not hit with my dora special . . . well ever. should be fun. if memory serves me right, i believe me and hippy tennis bum took you and skunky out at our last meet. and in our personal challenge, you don't have the hot pockets to save you. muahahaha. with a dora the exporer special in my hand, yo habla whoop azz.

Nope, never played with a k90. Closest is the KPS88 when I hit with it in FL in January.

Words, words, words...show up and play...put your Dora where your mouth is.

me losing to topaz is like me failing english. unpossible.

btw -- how long did you get to hit with the kps 88? i've hit with sup's k90 for 15 minutes. for the first 10 minutes i think i hit fairly well with it. the last 5 minutes i think was abysmal. they ain't a joy to hit with - at least for me. your mileage may vary. i'm curious how much the respective weapons of choice in this challenge will affect us. the weight and heft and tiny headsize of the k90 versus the lack of weight and heft and tiny headsize of the dora. muahahahaa. good fun.

    what's for lunchies?

    Xisbum,
Just got back from Da Bird. It was a sad day in Asics fairytale land. Tried on a bunch of shoes (yonex, new balance, reebok, babolat, asics) and decided to replace the challengers with Babolat All Court III's.

The new blue does look really nice in person, but that stiff flexpoint over the toe!

You talking about the Dia red Pro 3s? They do look nice, but how's the cushioning? That's what my knees and legs like about the ASICS. And the Lottos don't tickle my fancy on looks, although I can't tell much about cushioning.

I'm on the verge of ordering a pair of the Rez 2, and based on Auzzie's review, I'll probably break them in a few days before trying to play in them. At the very least, I'll get a nice cushioned walk from the Metro to the office and back.

I didn't try the diadora's. I do like the way the new blue ones look.

The Reebok KFS Pumps were extremely comfortable like walking on pillows, just not as much lateral support.

The Yonex SHT 306's were stiff and flexed the same as the Challengers. I thought I'd like those best.

I was hoping they would have those Shanghai Barricades, but no dice.

The Babolats were the best combination of lateral support, cushioning, comfort, low to the ground feel but still plush. I am gonna like these.

Sup- You better put the leash on little Drak, he is angering the great and powerful Shcmad, in the ******* thread as well as libel against Shcmads own hutchie!
I'd be scared of Schmad's retaliatory instincts if you can't bring drak under control.

I love my speedpro 2's. lightweight never had a problem with cusioning. flex everywhere they should and. My only beef is that the durability of the soles was lacking. But thats the trade off of having the lightest fastest shoes on the planet.

The Lottos are a tad heavier, but have a more plush feeling to them. The cushioning is excellent and the sole durability is better than the diadora.

Ifi were to compare these shoes like cars I would say it like this.

Diadora speed poros are like a Ferrari Enzo, and the Lottos would be like Bentley. You cant go wrong either way.

    And Adidas is like this

    Okay guys,

    When: April 11th (Saturday) 12-4
Where: Skyline Sport and Health, Baileys Crossroad (5115 Leesburg Park, Falls Church, VA 22041)
What: Tennis, food and round robin

Due to the weather forecast we are moving indoors. Please be aware, there is a small court fee of $20 bucks per person. It's a bargain, because we can stay on the actual court with food and beer, have the place to ourselves and there is a bathroom (P.S. there is an indoor basketball court as well). Free parking underground.

Should be fun, but we want to make sure that everyone is okay the price. We can get up to 2-3 courts and have the premier court. Food/beer and tables will be set up on Court 1 so we can sit, eat and watch. Hopefully Shcmad won't hit one into the crowd with his flat shots.

    Thanks

The club has tables and chairs so no need to bring them. If we want to continue the party, we can take the group to dogfish down the road. I'm sure HW will want some crab soup.

We are in desperate need of meats, warming trays, and a couple other things. Especially meats! Unless we all love pork. So help us out!

    Should be fun.

    TFM I'm out!

    TFM,

The director came over last night and plopped a new unstrung Tecnifibre 320 on my desk. Said she noticed i ordered some before and wanted to see an end to me putting ice on my shoulder.

I told her about the bet. She called us both immature guys, stuck 25 bucks in my hand, told me to pay you. She then took my racquet today and gave it to another pro. Said "there, now you are out".

So like that.. I'm out. You get your 25 bucks or free strings.

Funny part, is the other pro who got the racquet just hit the teacher cart during a lesson and put a huge gash on the side. I think he hates the racquet as well.

If the tecnifibre plays like the APDC like you said it does, then I'm going to like it.

So there you go. Cornered by a 5'0 fillipino women who doesn't take no for an answer: "thats what she said". LOL.

    Sup

Only to the white man smoking a cigar. Wait.. isn't that like Shcmad's signature. Maybe there is more to his fanboy love affair than we want to know about.

^^^It doesn't. Plays more like the Prince you just got rid of, but with more pop.

BTW, I always thought the photo in Schmad's avatar was an old picture of Nicholas from Eight is Enough.
