Not to ruin your day but...when he posted that reply, PP apparently forgot that he had to go on a camping trip this weekend.

No prob, SchMad. Was just looking forward to seeing him again. Haven't seen him since we played the Roland Garros last year.

    You're still coming, right?

    Yeah, I'm still in.

Do we have a fourth player? I wish Sup would be able to come out.

PP told me numerous times how he misses playing good ol' doubles with the XIs

Thanks to Brgrflipr for the good hit his morning. Played 3 sets. Good fun. First two were close. 7-6, 6-4. The last set was just for fun and didn't count.

What times can you get free? I usually leave earlier than most - 3:30 on most days, 2:30 on some days. I would prefer to play after work and not worry about finding a place to shower until I get home.

wookie / bgrflpr -- sounds like you guys had a good hit. i figured you guys would be fairly evenly matched with wookie's slightly higher consistency probably beating out brgrplpr's better court coverage and scrambling ability.

on a related note bgrflpr -- looks like you are the king of the defeated players on tennisengine ladder. ;) come up next week to my neck of the woods. maybe we can try playing in less than tropical storm conditions.

That is one kool dawg. Woodman, you done met your match, dood. :)

Mr. JRK, we will be honored by your presence tomorrow. I can tell you more lies about Spain. He!!, my wife is so pumped up by your tour in Espana that she's looking at investing in retirement property somewhere in Inquisition Land. We might be neighbors, if we can afford it. Property sure looks expensive these days.

You embarrassed by early tennis? Hey, I warmed up for tomorrow with about 250 practices serves right after work, then went out to dinner with the Missus. Just got back - 6 Sam Adams, blueberry cobler with ice cream for desert and I'll still be there bright and early. Emphasis on the BRIGHT - some new Nike duds arrived today, and I be stylin' manana.

Better wear your shades, boys.

lead tape questions: since no one let me try out theirs, i'm just going to order some. any preferences on which brand? and i assume that it's easily removed, in case i hate it?

tomorrow: anyone want to play noon-ish in maryland?

JRS, never got to thank you for the match a couple days ago. Thanks for inviting me up there. Weird "natural" courts though with dried goose turds all over the court and deer prancing around the fences.

Sappy, first time hitting with you, and your 2.5 self rating is a fallacy.

and Eugeinus, nice hitting last night. Too bad about your mandatory-first-time-out-hitting-hand blisters. You haven't lost a step (or your timing for that matter). Can't wait to hit more.

Props to the Nottoway Nuts who showed up early today - SchMad, PPLover and TheJRK. Three sets of dubs with rotating partners, perfect tennis weather and great fun.

Thanks for coming, guys. Nice way to spend Saturday morning. You guys rock. 8)

Thanks for coming out Auzzie. Sorry I couldn't make it more interesting. Yeah, those courts are unique. Those deer are tame and are all over the place, plus the geese turn everything into goose poop city in the spring.

I'm going to try to make it to Arlington next week. Let me know if you have an opening in your tennis schedule.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun this morning. PPL is pretty damn quick despite the fact that his body is fueled by Micky-D's, he's also the luckiest person I've played with and was able to come up with some amazing shots and volleys.

Please shut me up if I'm intruding here, but this puzzles the heck out of me.

When we were just hitting, you had the best looking ground strokes of all of us - no offense to the other Nottoway Nuts. Your strokes are clean, efficient, accurate - you name it. I can only dream of hitting the ball that cleanly.

Your volleys need work, but that just takes repetition. Your hand-eye coordination is too good for that deficiency to continue.

Somehow, we need to get you to relax during actual games. When that happens, you'll turn 0-3 to 3-0 in a hurry.

PPL is a speed demon on the court; reminds me of me in younger, skinnier and healthy-knee days. He just needs to see more balls with different pace so he can learn to adjust his stroke accordingly. Love your enthusiasm, PPL, but quit apologizing so much. Dubs is a team effort, win or lose. That last set was nice, wasn't it? :)

Methinks TheJRK was toying with us munchkins, and Zap was right - he towered over the rest of us. We didn't see the real JRK because he was hitting nothing but second serves - and he aced me a couple of times with that one. He lobbed a lot, too, making us short guys churn our little legs like crazy. Man, he's an imposing figure at the net, all arms and legs.

Cool outing. Should have more of them.

I think a lot of people hit better when they are just "hitting around" since they are more relaxed... there's no pressure after all, also they're not over-thinking their swing mechanics.

I know I play best when I'm scrambling for the ball since I'm just reacting, not thinking. Give me a short ball with all the time in the world to hit it and I'll probably miss that shot.

    Is anyone hitting today BTW?

Tentative time of Tuesday around 7pm? You can pick the courts. I have to double check that the wife isn't heading to the gym that night.
