Oy, what a day. First, some punk kid, GS-9 or something, tries to bully me into not editing his copy by trying to club me senseless with the "Secretary wants this just like it is" because this is "the most important program in the history of programs" bat. Compromised by not strangling him and retiring to Rota. :(

Then got bludgeoned for defending NOVA's travel record to a guy who questioned our honor. Lost this one cuz hell hath no fury like, etc. etc.

Then bought three MP3 albums at Amazon - Armchair Apocrypha, Scythian's Aidan's Orbit and a best of Shawn Phillips. The last one didn't download properly, and it's another hassle with Amazon on getting another download try. Boy they don't make it easy. Losing this one, too.

I shudda stayed in bed today. Woe is me.

Had fun at the clinic tonight until Sup brought out the radar gun.

If anyone can guess my fastest serve of the night (exactly) you will be the proud owner of some brand new Prince tennis balls (the next time I see you).

Here are some clues that may or may not help you...

    1. I was tired
    2. My arm was hurting a little bit
    3. Sup was distracting me
    4. I thought I saw "Moldova" on the other court for a second

Bonus question: What was my fastest forehand of the night?

prolly the same gun that sup tortured me with (he wasn't pleased either)dood, that radar gun is broken. i would crack one and it would put a hurting on the back tarp. sup would yell out.. "what was that one?" and i would have to respond meekly.. "it says 84". we changed the angle, the batteries, everything.. and all i could muster out of like 200 chances was 99 or 100 with the Xtreme. I could barely lift my arm.. but i was pizzed, so for the heck of it, i tried 3 serves with the Tec320 and 1 of them was 101 so I immediately bought 2 of them. har
but sup was hitting some good ones and they were barely registering out of the high 70s most of the time..so something was messed up with the gun.

i dunno how many serves you hit, but given that gun, i'm guessing you got 88, and that is guessing high. damn that radar gun!

you know what-i didnt mean to post at you, just the rest of the nova people. you did drive up to md,etc. and i saw your posts about meeting alice. now the rest of the nova people are going to come at me :p

all i was saying is that for the most part, in general, not anyone in particular, MD peeps go to nova more than nova peeps go to md. looks at hollywood for example. or PPL. even i used to drive 46miles one way from naptown to jefferson district.

i agree with you bmore is too far.

Peace be upon you, brother. :)

Just listened to my new Schthian album, have Andrew Bird playing now and will top it off with Shawn Phillips. Gonna be a mellow Friday.

JRK, 83 is my guestimate. Prince tennis balls? Really?

Allie, my nose is fine. Thanks for asking. ;-)

See y'all tomorrow at Nottoway. Any color requests?

    JRK,

LOL... I should of taken your money. When I brought out that gun.. I swear you stuck out your bird chest. The bet: average 10 serves and I bet you won't crack 100. The answer... *insert pic of a very quiet JRK*.

    Dats,

I don't think that radar gun is broken. Better strings, more time at the gym and a lot more practice and I'm back in the 100+ club. I do scratch my head about the black codes lack of pop.

    Alice,

What promises have been lost regarding putting the next meet in MD. If I did organize it, then a central location would work near the MD border or SV club. Confused by your comment and decepticon haircut.

    Guys,

Think we are missing some folks in regards to my picture request. Guess they don't want to participate? Deadline is today at 5pm.

p.s. PPL.. pick up your darn phone!

Is it the same radar gun as always? My only beef with that gun is that my gut blocks it on my bombs up the middle.

But I will agree its pretty hard to get it consistently accurate.

    Sup,

I think youre safe on not getting all the pics needed to do anything.

Hey Hollywood .. "where did who gooo?"

Could be right about my pic request. You did pull through, so maybe the rest of the gang will get it in order. Otherwise.. see you on the flip side.

p.s. Nope, the gun I have is actually more accurate in terms on pro serves, cause you can get up right on top of the servers action. The radar gun we used last night is a standard for clubs and place on the net.

    It's this one.

    Xisbum!

Hello my bright colored nike friend. Long time. Maybe we can go out and hit soon. You have my email and number.

Anyways, I would love to join you but I have a tennis clinic to run in the morning. Hopefully the courts are dry!

    Zapvor,

Forgot your email and I don't feel like searching Baltimore trash dumpsters for you.. so figure I would post.

Got an email from FatandLazy.. saying the score you guys had 6/30 was missing a third set of 6-0. So I entered it. If I don't hear from you, then it's legit.

That means Dats gets knocked out of 4th place.

Wonder where TFM is? Is he training for ladder match? Has he figured out that Sappy went out of his way to lose to TheJRK to knock him out of first place? Why do we park on driveways but drive on parkways?

Sup - First you said, I bet you don't break 100. My second serve hit 100 exactly and then you said "your average serve speed needs to break 100."

Your Jedi mind tricks don't work on me. ;)

But yes, I thought my average serve speed would break 100, which it didn't. :(

    Top Speed: 110mph (serve)

Top Speed: 72mph (forehand) This was while Sup was feeding me rapid fire forehands though... I didn't really get to run around and crank a huge one.

*Funny Note* The gun was also picking up Sup's "feeding" speed (although he couldn't see it), it was 25mph exactly everytime - he's like a machine.

I swear that I can get 120 though on the serve... I felt like I was serving a lot harder than that in my match against Auzzie last Friday.

    **Edit**

We are hitting at Wakefield HS around 430/500pm today.

We are hitting at Nottoway Park around 9am on Saturday.

Looking forward to it, my friend. I have even more colors in my sartorial arsenal, including some yellow, some green, some purple. Can't fine any puce, though. :-(

For your Reston Chronicles: told Mary Quite Contrary that I would like to be put on the sub list for her Wednesday night league, and she said I had to get verified by Jim Elder to get an Official Reston Rating before she would let me play with the poor folks on Wednesday night again. Seems my computer-generated official USTA 3.5 isn't good enough for her; methinks she doesn't want me playing for any of the teams that can challenge her team for supremacy of the mediocrity.

Ha. Guess I'll have to sub on Thursday night against all the brutish 4.5s and above; good thing is I get good practice for that by playing my TWMAC buddies like JRStriker, JRK, SchMad, Woodman, TFM (when his wife lets him out of diaper dudy), Magma, PPL, PP, JJJosh, SAPPY!!!!

Did I leave anyone out? Didn't mention our lady folks because they are nothing like brutish; they are stylish, just like I am. :)

Meant your game. But since you brought up attire - What matters isn't where you buy the paint but how it looks on the house. :)

Double ouch; hobble hurts my pride and Allie Rex has already chewed off my nose and has her eyes on other body parts, I think.

Told you this girl scared me way back when.

P.S. Kickin' back in the office, listen to repeat after repeat of the Last of the Mohicans' theme by Scythian, my latest best-ever Irish-Ukranian fiddle-playin' folk band, a local group that I simply have to see in person. Anybody want to go?

P.P.S. My goal after retirement is to grow long, greasy hair just like Daniel Day-Lewis' Hawkeye. :)

Xisbum and JRK: I'm sorry but I doubt I'll be out there playing tennis with you guys on Saturday. Lately, there's been some personal problems developing at home. I don't think and I don't feel like I should be playing tennis for the moment being.

But, you guys make sure to have fun!

Last of the Mohicans is sweet. Is the song your talking about the same one towards the end thats playing when the mohican dudes a running up the side of the mountain to catch Magua and the Hurons and save the munro sisters. Thats one of the best scenes in any movie. The song is sweet, the scenery is awesome, theres action, a chic slaps the indian and jumps over the cliff because she loves the other dead indian (is the part that gets you Topaz?).

Anyway thats one of my favorite movies. The book was a little too long for me and I didnt want to read 5 books about Natty Bumpoo (Hawkeye) written in the early 1800s. Especially when I had to roll hard in the paint and hit baseballs.

Yup, that's the one. Makes me want to head back home to Toad Hop Holler, sit on the porch of Billy Joe's BBQ Possum Emporium and Fish Bait Bar whittlin' all afternoon shootin' the **** with the boys and hittin' the woods at dawn to hunt deer with a muzzle-loading flintlock long rifle. With long, greasy hair. :)

Woodman, you continue to amaze me with your hidden layers of complexity. You gotta move closer to the area, then we could hunt down this band, demand this song every hour and close their bars every time they play. I hear they are dy-no-mite live.
