Hey, all guys think that way. It will pass, trust me, and then you will long for those days.

Will your children be back in school next week? Cindysphinx and I are getting together for a hit Friday morning; care to join us? You are more than welcome. :)

DVI, if I hadn't have had a match, I would have totally been up for some ice cream...been jonesing for it for a while.

I thought your BHs were pretty nice...I was trying to avoid it when I had the opportunity!

Wait...I know you and Sappy came up with your own line calling system, but isn't the fence still OUT! ;)

thanks for the invite, but my kids will be getting out at noon that day, thereby cramping my tennis schedule. where/when are you planning on meeting? depending on the location, i would have a very narrow window between 9--11. have you two met before?

Actually we've been able to get indoor time, and yeah, because of Shell's schedule, we're meeting pretty early.

But *thank you* for all the help with courts and breakfast places! Very helpful! :) If we ever have a big meet again, there may be some cookies in there for you!!!

Still negotiating place; she first mentioned Cabin John Park in MD but didn't know if we could get on a court. I countered with Lake Newport in Reston, but I'm still willing to drive to MD. We're thinking of starting at 10 but could push that earlier if necessary, I think.

And I have not met her face-to-face yet.

Magma, you are more then welcome to join us. Watch this space for final time and place. :)

If I recall - someone had posted looking for an IT related job a while back? Sorry, I don't remember who is was of what job it is. However, I just received note that we have 5 openings - 5 yr contract. Please contact me if interested.

edit: job is based out somewhere in Hanover MD. I'll find out more details when I get to the office Monday. I was talking on the phone with the operations guy today and can't remember the details.

    The nTour vs. kTour showdown!

Holy cow, folks...all I can say is that Shell is *supercool*!!!

The day started well...I got up to MD pretty quickly (virtually no traffic on a Sunday morning), and I did pass the club once, but turned around soon enough and found it. As I was parking I saw a woman in the parking lot with orange on...and thought, well, that *must* be Shell! And it was! And was it kismet that we were wearing matching skirts? I think not!

And we both did the Nike thing, except for shoes. Of course, as we all know and adore, I wear Adidas, and Shell was actually wearing the Asics Gel Resolution 2's, the men's white/orange pair. They looked pretty nice. I know it is a popular shoe here in the TWMAC. Though, like you guys have also mentioned, Shell said she preferred the Resolution 1 to the 2.

I finally got to ask her how in the world she ended up in Charm City all the way from NM (TWSW), and she said she was there for a type of meet-up from a different tennis board. I asked which one, and she said Essential Tennis! To which I thought 'shut up'!!! I have had the pleasure of meeting the pro behind the Essential Tennis website, and I've poked around in their forums. He posts here, too, mostly in the tennis tips/instruction section, under the moniker 'Essential Tennis'. From reading a bit on their forum, I knew they were having a meet-up, but I had no idea it was this weekend, at that club, and that Shell flew all the way here for it! If you get a chance to go over to the ET website, listen to podcast #80...in which one of my questions about 'mental' tennis was addressed and answered!

Shell was able to get us some indoor time, so we headed into the club. This club is...*magnificent*. It is also a gym, but there are plenty of beautiful indoor hard courts, a great lobby, and they even have their own little cafe (which had some good coffee). Here is a picture of the lobby:

They were having a junior tournament there at the same time as well. There were more courts behind me from where I took that picture. They had a nice little pro shop, too, and nice locker room facilities. You know, if we ever are looking for an indoor place to have a meet-up in that area...well, I think we would need to look no further.

Anyway, we took to the courts and warmed up a bit before playing a set. Shell pretty much = New Mexico's version of Justine Henin! I'm not kidding. One handed, topspin BH (she also slices), she moves like Justine, hits her strokes like Justine...it was uncanny! Though, according to many posters on this board, such women as Shell (1H topspin BH, wicked BH slice, insane topspin FH) don't exist. Our set started off close, and then she put the hurt on me with those beautiful groundies...6-2. It was good tennis though! I think she enjoyed running me around from corner to corner, and yes, she brought out a drop shot. I told her that made her an honorary member of TWMAC.

And then we hit around some more until our time was up. We switched racquets around a bit...her nTours came weighted pretty differently from each other (though she had TW match two of them to each other), and the second nTour of her's that I hit with was *nice*. We could both feel the difference in balance between the nTour Twos and my kTours, plus I have mine leaded up slightly at 12 o'clock. Hitting with her nTours made me think even more about adding some weight to my racquet in the butt cap.

Then she had a lesson while I relaxed in the lounge.

We headed out The Nautilus Diner for lunch, and continued our apparel/racquet/shoe/string/tennis talk. I also grilled her about her current occupation, which happens to be one that I've just started studying for! I'm pretty sure I talked her ear off. The Nautilus Diner was great, too...I've never seen a menu that had that many choices! And I haven't seen that many dessert cases look so tempting that I wanted to hook it up to my car and take it home with me! One piece of the carrot cake did make it home with me, actually!!!

Then back to the club, where she planned to kill time until her flight this evening. We did manage one picture, though!

OK, well, we took 3 until we got one we liked...

(Shell, if you want it taken down, just say the word!)

So, a very fun adventure on my last day before indentured servitude starts up again! Thanks again Shell!

Dats, our score got entered twice...sorry about that. I asked Sup to delete one. I would guess that Sappy put in your other score? You were a ladder match demon yesterday!

Is this an extra racquet that you're getting rid of? It isn't the one you had yesterday, is it?

Man, I wish I could hit today. It's super nice outside. At least I'm feeling better, just in time to go to work on Monday, yeahhhh!!!

I need to hit though, it's been almost 3 weeks. I've been wearing my yellow Ballistecs around the house, it's pathetic.

it is the same as the one u used briefly yesterday.. but brand new. 10/10 sell for $115
i also will have 1 of the 12.1oz "pro-spec modified" Xtremez available.. (silicone in handle, lead under bumperguard) just like the one you used. 9/10 sell for $80)
i'm keeping 2 Xtreme rutas and selling 2 Xtreme rutas.
    ------
i REALLY like the Xtremes so i might be going back to them if my YY experiment doesn't work but i don't need 4 of them since my pro career got derailed by knee injuries, beer addiction, poor technique, and severe constipation.
    -----
anybody want 7/10 black Nike Vapors V in 10.5? i can't wear them without falling down. sell them for $35 or something because well they are used shoes and that's kind of weird.
    ----
i thought u guys didn't have tennisengine p/w and blam! those chumpies got janked up there quick. (i try to use the HW "chumpy/jank" combo as often as possible... teehee)

^^^My pw didn't work last week, but I was able to get in yesterday. Don't know why. Don't know about your score with Sappy, either.

Some prune juice may help with that constipation!

Edit - ooooo, my post count is 4,444! Edit again - ooops, not anymore!

Greenspring Club. Evidently, it just won some award from the USTA...well deserved IMO.

USTA Names Greenspring Racquet Club the Facility of the Year.

No sweet stuff? Good for you...I wish I could do that!

Sup and Ppls excellent USO adventure.

On a stinky bus waiting to leave for Nyc! Ppl is half asleep and Im not sure he had his mcdonalds fix. He keeps talking about getting a good dinner non stop.

We should arrive just in time to see the tail end of Fed's match...hopefully!

Watch for us during the evening match. We'll try to place a twmac sign for a pic. Maybe Ppl can streak across the court like that nut from the french open.

Don't lose PPL in all that NY hustle and bustle; might not find him again. :)

Anyone staying in town next weekend? Want to play Saturday a.m.?

Sorry, can't post pix from work. Sappy seems to post such things with mind-numbing regularity, so perhaps he can help.

Fits it does, because old, short and wrinkled I am. Shave my 'tasche to feel better I might. Quicker fix it is than losing 40 pounds.

Ladies and gentlemen of TWMAC, I had a wonderful time on my adventure into your fair lands. OK, I only really saw the interstate and the tennis club and the hotel parking lot and a diner, but it was still nice for me = GREEN.

And your very own Topaz was a wonderful hostess! She showed me her wicked new tennis shot (beware the short cross court off both sides - her now not so secret new weapon). We had a nice hour and a half of playing and hitting. Then more than an hour and a half of chatting (somehow I knew that would dominate the time spent).

Thanks Topaz for meeting up, and it was great to finally meet you! Good stuff all around. We will do it again next time I'm out that way. And anytime you are headed to New Mexico, I'll bring out the TWSW group to challenge you again - now where did they go? :)

Thanks for all the directions from the airport! No wrong turns on this trip.

Topaz, on the NTourTwo that you liked, that was Maxim Touch crosses. But I have to say, your PSG (D?) felt pretty good to me. Had never hit it before.

Wish I could, JRS. Still in shock from the shellacking my young Reston friend gave me yesterday - 2 and 1, and it wasn't that close. My serve went to Brazil, my backhand went to Argentina and my usually reliable forehand went all over the place - except where I wanted it to go.

Having a midlife tennis crisis I am, and find a way out I must. Tonight is rest and reflection night.

Can you get out Saturday morning if I get something set up?

Cool. Is 9 a.m. Saturday too early for you? And do you prefer Wakefield Park or some other place? If Wakefield works, I'll get the courts reserved; I'm assuming others will join once they see the Surfer Dude is on board. :)

Saturday tennis is a tough thing to pull for me now days. Tennis has been relegated to weekday evenings.

JRK, we'll see. Fridays are usually Family night. Thursday is a possibility I should know by Tuesday night.

Hope you liked my town/area, even though it was mostly freeways, parking lot, indoor tennis facility, diner, etc....

Nah Puma is pretty sweet. much better than Adidas.

The whole reason PUMA is even around is because Rudolf Dassler had an argument with his brother and decided the company sucked and we wanted to start his own. So Rudolf Dassler started PPUMA leaving his brother Adolf (ADI) DASsler to start adidas
