So I watched this video and have a few comments/question...

First, how tall are you? I noticed all the shots coming to you are at your neck and head level.

Second, 9.5/10, your forehands are all open stance.

Third, I like the 3rd person view better than the side angle...

Man, that was a good game last night... too bad they lost in overtime. Me, you, and Sup need to go watch a Caps game some time.

Awesome! What time do you guys play? Need to check with the boss and confirm plans for saturday but might be able to come out. Will let you know ASAP!

Most of the time I play at cabin john park b/c its right near the highway and has lights for nite playing... usually prefer to hit there or near home in fredneck although I've hit in the Arlington areas a bunch of times afterwork to wait out traffic. how about you?

i'll be at Jefferson Park practicing my serve on Court #8 at 5:00 this evening. Some folks from the offcie are coming by to hit with me at about six; but if anyone is in the area and wants to say, 'hi," I'm the guy with the Yonex bag.

How dare you disrespect JO that way.

Old Bay would be like the Sopranos. Probably the biggest show in the history of HBO. A very good show and most people know of it by name.

JO on the other hand would be like "The Wire". Possibly the greatest TV show of all times, yet not known about or watched by many.

JO is the best spice around. Go to anycrab shack that knows anything about anything anfd they will not be using Old Bay to season their crabs. The article even says that only 2 or 3% of the original dudes sales were from old bay. The rest was custom blends of the same ingredients. That should tell you something right there my friend.

There's this cheese-steak place in Crystal City that puts either JO or Old Bay on it's fries... they taste pretty damn good.

I was at the Quarterdeck last week, I wonder if they use JO or Old Bay on their crabs.

Fries with some apple cider vinegar and JO are the best.

Most likely that quaterdeck place doesnt use JO. But you should ask them just to see what they say. Alot of places will use a generic spice and just call it Old Bay because most people associate that kind of flavor as Old Bay.

Some JO history. (It's from Virginia! .. well the bay.. but still VA)

J.O. Spice Company, Inc. was established in 1945 by J.O. (James Ozzle) Strigle and his wife Dot. J.O. was born and raised on Tangier Island, Virginia, a small island in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay where everyone's livelihood depended on seafood… whether it be crabs, fish or oysters. The island's shoremen would take spices from the pantry and blend them based on recipes, which had been handed down through the centuries to cook wonderful dishes of steamed crabs, fish, oysters and clams.

I am 5.8 inches, by the way thats a rough estimate. Yea the balls are high so I have to hit an open stance all the time and now its a habit on every shot. Ok I will post another vid tomorow.

I am so fed up that I just totaly stop playing today, not literaly. I am in dire need of some one better to hit with, my other partner couldn't keep a rally going unless I hit the ball soft. I just hate this, I think playing more tennis is not going to help me unless its with some one better I will never go above 4.0 if I keep hitting with the same people.

I wouldnt worry about 4.0 if I were you man. Just worry about getting better. You ain't old enough yet to worry about that stupid NTRP.

I agree with you on the hitting partners. Its nice to mix some strong players in. But sometimes the lower level guys can give you shots you need to work on also.

For instance when you are playing some of your frinds and get a short ball really work on moving forward and takin the ball early. You will get alot more floaters and shortballs against the lower guys than you will against the better players. Everyone can serve a purpose, even Zapvor can provide you with something useful :)

Dear God this is a long thread...I guess that's a good thing;-).
Anywho, where's a good place for indoor courts in the area? I think there are some in the Tysons Corner area but that's a hike (especially in the evenings on 66). Anything near Dulles/Sterling (my brother and I work in that area)?

    Thanks.

If you buy Lotto Gears from the UK and Australia you would fit in perfectly at Fairfax Racket Club. Xisbum will hook you up good from there.

Im sure theres stuff in Manasas as well. But im from way up here in MD and dont have a clue.

Practiced my serve for an hour on court 8 at Jefferson Park -- will be there on Friday from 5 to 7, probably with my son, who is 12 and just beginning.

There is an indoor club (Worldgate Sport and Health) in Reston. There is also Bready Park in Herndon, which has a bubble during the winter time.

You would need to be a member at the S&H I think, though. Not sure about Bready Park...but there are others from that area here who will hopefully chime in.

I have *no* idea about indoor places in Dulles/Sterling exactly, but there is a bubble in Ashburn and indoor facilities in Leesburg as well (at Ida Lee).

Thanks Hollywood and Topaz:), I'll look them up. I've looked up Fairfax Racket Club before but I'll check them out again.

I wish Lifetime Fitness had courts (membership through work). It's like the only ones that don't are in Virginia...haha!

Hey, bud. Welcome to the fastest, baddest, bestest thread in the country. You need fast fingers and a faster mind to keep up.

Try Burke Swim and Racquet Club for something closer to Manassas:

    http://www.burkeclub.com/

Nice little club; you would probably enjoy it.

I think you basically covered it.

BTW- You don't need to be a member to get time at Bready park.... but good luck getting any indoor time. There are only 3 courts in an indoor bubble, and contract time is relatively low cost so it goes fast, plus they have leagues, etc - so they stay VERY busy. Usually the only time you can find open indoor time there is during work hours. Though, you may get lucky every once in a while and find a 9pm or 9:30pm slot.

I'm not sure if they put up the bubble there yet. I was out there about a week ago and the bubble wasn't in place.

    Awesome. Y'all rock.
Bready Park and Burke look like the ones I'll shoot for.
Funny thing, I had a map of Bready Park up and my supervisor walked by and goes, "Oh Bready Park...my mom works there. I'll have her send you info." Haha!

DUDE! where is this cheesesteak place you speak of? my workday is pretty much going to S#!t and could use a good lunchtime escape ha!

Doh! I might have to work this saturday round 1 in which case I don't think i could make 1120. will keep you posted!

Unfortunatly, hitting is a big part of it bud. Not just casual rallying (although that in itself is often helpful) but playing out game situational hitting sessions (game of 21 from the baseline, x-court/down the line games) and matches. Can't remember who said it earlier but it may not neccesarily be the opponent each time. Long as they can keep a ball in play to warm up and you can get some practice matches in thats always a good opportunity to get match tough b/c your going to constantly have to make minor adjustments to try and win points.

My 2 cents... keep hitting when and with whomever you can until your able to get a bigger player pool. Also reccomend taking Topaz's advice and seeing if your folks can get a little more into your tennis, potential college scholarship is always a good way to get their attention.

*ahem* last I checked Alice, TFM, PPL, and I all live in MD and we're all fairly decent in our own right... :D

Fairfax is a good club... court time can get a little hinky in the winter. Not a big fan of Worldgate S&H on account of court surface (too fast/slick) and membership fees (too high). I used to be good friends w/ the guys over at Ashburn and was able to play in on their advanced mens drills on saturday mornings, but I'm not sure if they still have those anymore.

Hey, buddy, still looking to play Sunday? Looks like it could be the only good day weather-wise in the 3-day weekend, so if you're still looking, I'm up for a session.

Heyo guys, anybody else from the MAC tried out Technifibre Black Code?? I just strung it up recently in my racket, it is really quite nice. Loads of bite and power, and good tension maintenance so far!

Also, anyone used Alu Spin? I'm gonna be trying that out in my next string job and i'm pretty excited. It's another pentagonal spin string like black code. Anyone used both or have feedback on it???

Also, Microgel Prestige Pro is the greatest racket ever made..!
