    TWMAC Meeting Thanks

Thanks to all of the those who came out today for yet another successful meeting. The pro set doubles round robin was a success, as well as the radar gun demonstration and wood racquet hit.

Today's doubles winners were the combo team of TMF and KoreanHB. Second place went to JRStriker and Magmasilk. Well done gents!

To those who saw me rush off, I did get JRstriker back to Reston in time, so no Botswana curse from his wife.

I will download the great movies I took today. Special thanks to Nitefly for driving from Odenton and Shinton comming from cockeysvile.

    Many thanks guys,
    "El Jefe"

Not sure of all the details but I believe Sup2Dresq organized this get together, picked up a few participants, brought wood racquets, balls, a radar gun and organized the teams and matchups. Putting these events together is usually a thankless job but a HUGE thanks for your hard work!

I had a great time meeting and playing with everyone. Fun to see people as obsessed with tennis as I am. :)

Cheers and hope to see you all again soon!

Hey guys, sorry for showing up and playing so terribly today.
Had a rough night the night before and a hectic morning, I feel like I rued the last meet before us college kids go off to school.
    :(

Otherwise, it was good to have a big meet with everyone. Hopefully we'll have another big one once it warms up a bit outside, i.e. spring I suppose.

Thanks TFM! Thats nice of you to say. I try/tried my best to make every meeting successful. Everyone got to play 2 competitive matches, get a radar gun chance and meet new people.

    Everyone,

Be patient with the videos being uploaded. Football is on! They will be up sometime tomorrow or Monday. They are pretty good. Lots of good forms and videos really are the best way to see one play.

    Thanks

^^^You did get a bit of help on this one, though, didn't you?

    *smile*

Yes, it was a very good meet...even though it was a 'retirement' meet.

TFM...I don't really want to be on the receiving end of your serve...ever. Again. LOL

Thanks to JRK for putting up with being paired with the girl!

who retired btw? i heard something like sup2dresq wouldn't be able to set these up anymore -- is he moving or something?

and who's gonna organize these from now on? ;)

topaz i'm gonna drag cindy out next warm day and have you two play a match. i'll of course videotape and post the fireworks. :)

It was a fun meet. Special thanks goes to Sup and Topaz-san for all the effort for making the meet possible.

Also, it was nice meeting newbies including tfm whom I already met before. Nice to have you here, man. (even though, I am leaving)

Well, I only helped out with the courts, Sup was the mastermind behind the rest. The thanks should really go to Annandale's tennis director...lots of places are very strict about only having members use their courts. I explained our situation to him, and he was willing to let a bunch of non-members play, of course, for a non-member price! ;) It works out for everyone...we needed some courts, and they like to have their courts booked!

Yes, Sup is retired...he is planning on moving, plus he has a lot of travel coming up this year. I believe he did not feel like he could do the chapter justice...for example, he didn't want people waiting around for him to organize something, because he probably just won't have time to do so. That doesn't mean someone else can't step up to the plate!

TFM...I feel like you are officially a member now! It seems every MAC member has a 'Topaz vs. ______' match that they'd like to see!

Yup, I felt "zapped" just thinking about it. Don't forget that Topaz.

Keep an eye out for threads about some upcoming locations I'll be going too. The next 2 places, will be Miami, FL for the Sony Ericsson, followed by Austin, Texas to play in the national hard court championship.

    TWMAC 01.12.2008 Wrap-up

Videos! The day belongs to videos. Thanks to the motel crew for showing up.

    The players:

    (from left to right)

Magmasilk, TheJRK, Topaz, Nitefly, Sup2dresq, Shintan, Shcmad, TFM, PurePrestige, JRStriker

*Yes, there is contract dispute with nike, so I couldnt show their logo on my shirt. Actually, there was too much nipple shadow for my liking. LOL*

Champions: TFM and KoreanHB. The Korean ESP was strong with these two. I've only seen the Bryan Brothers have more instinct on what each other will do.

The Finalists: MagmaSilk and JRStriker. Consistency will get you everywhere. Including the finals of round robin. Great run gents.

The most entertaining: A MUST SEE. TheJrk and Topaz were the guys with the most heart. Constantly pushing, constantly on the ropes. This one play was the best of the day.

Most Team Spirit: Shcmad and PurePrestige. Virginia Tech fans please take note. Both will be appearing in a classroom near you next week. Autographs are taking by order of female, most pretty and biggest bank account.

    Serves, serves, serves!

Andy Roddick? No PurePrestige. May I comment on the fact he went Nike today for my retirement day. I'll miss you most of all Scarecrow.

The Slicer. TFM. Korean Lite has a great twist serve. Smooth like butter before you put the knife with crumbs in it.

The reliable serve. Magmasilk just couldn't miss from what I saw.

    Radar Gun time!!!

The public asks, we deliver. Radar gun came out for the best 3 serves recorded for the day. Note: The innocent must be protected, so those who were a little "under par" have requested no publicity of their .. eh hum.. serve abilities.

All serves went in that are being shown.

    Fastest of the day: PurePrestige

    Most points for quality: TFM

    Most points for stylish? Shintan-san

Hehehe. Oh Shintan-san. No worries, everyone gets surprised by the ball speed when they first get checked. Remember spin and radar placement is key. Perhaps Topaz wasnt lined-up, but it looks like she did the job well.

Guys, I have 2 more videos, but I am having some computer problems getting it on. Be patient.

TWMac 01.12.2008 Blooper of the day.

The best team didn't just win the round robin, they also won the blooper of the day award. Please KoreanHB... keep your eye on the ball instead of concentrating of gang signs.

P.S. NiteFly I am having trouble getting your serve video up. Photobucket doesnt want to cooperate. KoreanHB, I have your serve on video, .. but... :)

Great pics and vids Sup2dresq. KoreanHB and I definitely had some ESPN between us. I heard him inside my head - "don't mess up, don't mess up."

When the weather gets warmer, I think we should get together again. 2 hours isn't enough - it takes me that long for my joints to stop hurting. ;)

    Awesome meet everyone!

Lots of fun and great to meet some other TW-Mac-ers that I haven't met before.

Mad props to Sup and Topaz for setting it up.

Thanks for the video Sup. I'm surprised that my serve doesn't look half as goofy as I think it does.

Anyway, see everyone at the next meet.

Don't lie Shin. You "happen" to dress up in drag a lot and you know it. I saw you last week and it's not even October.

 Just messing. What sushi joint do you have hookups with? For my money I've always liked Kawasaki on Charles Street. Kinda small and cozy.

Yesturday was great. i only showed up for the last couple minutes as you all know. was lovely to meet all the new members! it was great catching up with existing members too. great thanks to Sup for putting it together. he definitely did all the grunt work, and the result was a smashing success. unfortunately, it was also Sup's last meet with us....which is really sad.

now everyone knows Sup hates me,haha. which i dont know why really. he's apparently upset at me for all the little things i guess. but come on guys we all love Sup (myself included) depsite what he thinks, so you guys should talk to him and get him to stay. he is a 'superb' member of the MAC, and quite frankyl i am waiting for him to approach me so we can talk. i thought from our conversations he didint want to talk to me- he stopped replying to my IM, never replied to my emails, never gave me his phone number, and as of yesturday barely said hi. but it turns out you do want to talk to me Sup. we arent in high school anymore, so if you want to talk give me a ring/email/something. contrary to what you think i dont dislike you at all. i dont know why you dislike me so much, hehe.

but the main thing i think is you guys need to talk to him and convince him to stay! the MAC wont be the same without you Sup.

sidenote: the highlight for me yesturday was hitting an ace against safin. haha sorry had to say that :p but i still let HB down. sorry man.

You know Zap, it is painful to read this.

My first attempt to go to a meet was unsuccessful. Why? Because after I had already left to go, you pop on here and change the time. Completely disrespectful of people with jobs and other responsibilities. So, with all my other tennis going on, I had basically said to myself 'Never again.' Then I met Sup, and only on his recommendation did I ever come to a meet.

I'm glad I did. I met a lot of nice guys and *excellent* tennis players.

But, as of this post, I am 'retired' as well.

This post you've put up here, Zap, is horribly disrespectful. READ THE THREAD. How many times has Sup posted, specifically to you, ASKING you to reply? And then you would get on here, and reply to everyone *but* him. You are the one who ignored him. How can you possibly expect that to be ok? Sup isn't just a mixed partner of mine, he's also my friend, and I've seen him literally bend over backward to accommodate you and include you. He provides you a ride, you aren't there. He sets up times for matches and meets, you show up more than an hour late. *YOU* are the one who is exhibiting the high school behavior, and now that you're faced with the consequences, you're trying to spin it. It won't work. Read the thread. All those 'little things'...they add up.

The chapter is full of great people, and as much as I am sad to see Sup go, I *completely* understand it. He's given you much more patience than you would have gotten from me, that I know for sure. And Zap, I explained this to you off of the board as well as on...Sup has a lot of tournaments and travel planned. He simply will not have the time for this.

The chapter will live on, of that I am sure.

Good luck to all you guys!

People...just remember not to judge a person from what you hear from others...I have no idea what EXACTLY has caused all these and I am pretty sure NO ONE completely knows it including you Topaz (what happened to you in the first place was terrible, and I completely understand how you feel about it, but...) and everyone else in here. Things just happened here in the threads are not ONLY the reasons why this has happened, I am pretty sure, so you can't just look them back and say whoever is wrong or right.

I am a still friend of both Sup and Zap. I hope you guys resolve the issue just as everyone here including myself wants.

And you may be very correct in that, Shintan. And there are things that I considered in my decision that I have not posted on here, as well.

    LOL....hahaha nah...not since then...I realized I wouldn't make it good, so I gave it up...

Anyway, you've been to "Matsuri" on Charles St? Next to the cross street market in Federal Hill.

Kawasaki...is dead and looks like a ghost house as of now, and you don't wanna know what happened to the business...do some research and you MIGHT be able to find the info.

Sup....have you ever tried sushi? *giggles"

shin -- goes to show you how long it's been since i've been up to baltimore. i try to avoid crackmore like the plague although there are a few good spots. what happened to kawasaki? were they serving soylent green?

sushi folks -- shin, topaz, sup and anyone else - it'd be fun to get together in baltimore and order a giant boat of sushi and talk. i had to rush out to lunch with a friend and didn't really get to stay and talk to my fellow tennis obsessed fools. it's not everyday that i meet people who are like me - who orders and demos new racquets weekly, restrings weekly for the "perfect" setup and has tried to put lead tape just about everywhere but the strings - which gives me my next brilliant idea.

retired TW MAC -- don't be so rash in retiring. i just joined. i think chicago said it best: "if you leave me now, you take away the biggest part of me." give peas a chance.

Hahaha....cool. The best sushi place (in terms of Sushi, not as in cooked foods) in NOVA is probably "Tachibana" in McLean. I used to work around there and I am familiar with the area little bit. If it's in DC, probably "Sushi Taro" in the Dupont Circle...is the best bet.

I don't like "Uni" either....tried a few, but nothing fancy about it.

Yeah, we should get together and have some nice sushi definitely!!

I had a great time playing with everyone, especially my partner in crime Topaz! I actually didn't feel too bad considering the last time I hit was in (October?) at the MAC meeting we had at the park near Vienna.

Thanks to Topaz and Sup for setting the whole thing up, that was awesome. :)

Shintan - Sorry for drilling you in the back but TFM paid me to do it. ;-)

TFM - You have to show me how to do the trick where you serve the ball with so much spin that it turns into a yellow egg that bounces 90 deg perpendicular.

Sup - Thanks for putting up the vids, although I thought Yao Ming was playing tennis with Topaz when I first looked at it.
