    Looked up the team and checked out the whole league. Its gonna be tough to do well with so few 4.5's in an 8.5 league. Maybe the captain is hoping to add players...

    Tell me about it. I don't think we've won a meet yet. I'm cool though, just happy to play.

    Okay, I just looked up the match report from yesterday. The guy who took that long break, he is rated as a (drumroll)..........

    ... he is rated as a 4.5.

    So our 8.0 combo beat their 8.5 combo.... count me confuzzled.

    I was wondering why he was coming on so strong at the end. Maybe he did have a medical issue???

    I'm still sort of shocked.... though it looks like that guy has only won one match at 4.5 this year.

    Dats when you gonna be in grace homie? well bash some serves through the high school fence into the creek.

    I was at those basketball courts the other day hitting wiffle balls when the cops came and said they thought we were hitting baseballs.

    Paased a dude in PA selling a monster truck also. It was a ford but looked everybit as nice as that Chevy, which last i rode by there was still thier. I can take you to the Ford if you wanna scope it out. At the worst well see some Amish and can throw food at them NWA drive by style.

    Hdub, i'll be up there 1st week in september!
    we are definitely hittin serves through the fence, checkin out 15y/o girls in daisy dukes, and test driving monster trucks. werd!

    p.s. - we got crabs from captain pells up around here. (i dont eat crabs but i had to go buy them) $50/72/96 for medium/large/jumbo crabs per dozen... geez. it cost a fortune to feed 8 people plus steamed shrimp.. corn.. etc.
    i just drank a bunch of heineken and sat around for several hours. thank god for beer!
    but the box had J.O. #2 seasoning advertisement on it... i was the only one who knew what it was. so i educated j-wowwz family on the elusive alternative crab seasoning blends known only to a few special bal'more peeps.

    i wonder if the price on that chevy will ever drop. if it does, i'm cutting the sleeves off my flannel shirts, wearin a cowboy hat, tuning to some AM country station, and ridin that jobbie off into the sunset. or at least until it runs out of gas or breaks down. doh!

    thx auz!
    freekin dr. guido sarducci! i've never had to hunker down and play such exquisite 2.5 tennis to sneak out a win. there were a bunch of easy points but also so many missed shots and short-armed tentative krap shots that i almost imploded. luxilon big banger was not meant to tap the ball around in mini-tennis!!!!
    but yeah, it feels MUCH better to get the W than to have it listed on the internet that i lost to chair sitting, 3x tosser, 30mph serving, crap baller like him.
    i dunno why i am always shocked that i play so badly against those kinds of players. if i just kept taking little steps and got my racquet back it could be SO simple.

    burn the videotape!!!!! (especially the part where the 2 fat guys take their shirts off and try to intimidate each other like seals by demonstrating their impressive GIRTH!) :oops:

    hah, when it turned into a shirtless battle, i really thought an unpleasant end was imminent. I didn't catch the end...please tell me you only shook hands post-match, and didn't hug or embrace.

    When did we play?????

    There is something so terribly wrong about guys' playing tennis shirtless. Really sets off my inner rage. Just can't control it. :evil:

    BTW, broke strings in both my new sticks last night in a Reston League Tennis singles match. First time that ever happened to me. Had to finish with my buddy's KBlade. Talk about a Stranger in a Strange Land. Did win one point with it, though.

    P.S. The 'Blade had one of those tiny 3/8" grips, and my wrist is really, really sore today. Coincidence???

    Stop hitting so hard!!!! LOL! ;)

    Xis - Nice bumping into you and J tonight at Hook. I looked over and saw the bling from the shirt and knew it was Xis!

    BTW - I'm JEALOUS of that sweet Lotto shirt with the gold trim.

    -------------------

    While I has hitting my my friend JK in Endor, two of my other buddies showed up last night so we played dubs so they didn't have to kick us off the court. I was shocked when everyone wanted to play two back and I was the only one charging the net - I was like WTF? I had fun playing net with everyone sitting back, just slice, junk, drop it short and put away a volley - tons of fun.

    sorry about having to resort to nekked fat belly tennis.
    i was desperate, losing my lead in the 2nd set and just needed a few decent
    serves to get to a 3rd set tiebreaker.
    with my shirt soaked and weighing 20lbs, i thought it best to remove it. i think i did pop an ace or 2 once the belly made an appearance! VAMOS!!!! :shock:

    i didnt realize it would cause a chain reaction of sweaty fat guys to also feel free to take their shirts off. akbar surprisingly didn't fling off his shirt and yell AWAY! as he tossed it to his adoring fans!!!!

    i apologize for breaking tennis etiquette out there Xis. please don't be angry with me. :oops:

    but i WON against one of my nightmare pusher opponents. one day i will actually play decent tennis and the score won't be so sketchy. (sigh)

    Good win, Datty. Despite your faux pas on proper tennis attire among males, I can't stay mad at such a free spirit who careens through life from one poison ivy patch to another. Just don't remove your shirt in my presence; ask Auzzie how I respond to such provocation. :)

    That old rag? Kinda drab by my standards, but it was comfortable on a humid night.

    Kinda bummed out about the string-breaking. Had clawed back from 1-3 down to 3-4 when the first string popped. Then quickly went down 3-5 before scrambling back to 5-6, 0-15 on his serve when the second one popped on a service return. And he blew the shot while I was screamin' and yellin' and cursin' to the String Gods: "Why me, oh great Gamma Gut, why me?"

    He was gonna blow that shot regardless and give me a 0-30 lead, but, naturally, since I was such a punk over the bad luck, I gave him a let on the shot. Only won one more point with J's KBlade, with a grip skinnier than my thumb, and he closed it out, 5-8. Bummer; cudda chopped down a decent 4.0 guy or at least got close enough to smell a win. But as Jack Nicholson said to Martin Sheen in The Departed, "If ya cudda, ya wudda." Great words of wisdom, that.

    Time to convert to Poly-string-ism ;)

    Good effort Xis, lesser men would have just given up the fight. You kept going with only a pencil grip. Maybe you should have thrown on about 4-5 overgrips to help out.

    Good thing I didn't make my comment about the tennis courts looking like walrus mating season on the nature channel . (Just kidding)

    Maybe you started a revolution dats, the fat nekked belly tennis movement - I'll join! We'll hold a sweaty t-shirt burning.

    Also, props on the hard fought win over mr. slow playing hacker.

    Something to think about TWMAC gentlemen...

    I'm most likely going to play one of two local NTRP tournaments over Labor Day weekend...one is in Leesburg, one is at TCCP (Tennis Center at College Park). I will play singles, but I was wondering if anyone wanted to team up for some mixed?

    TCCP registration ends Saturday...Leesburg not until the 30th. TCCP has bigger draw, nicer facility (though Leesburg is plenty nice), a bit more money. Leesburg so far is smaller draw, still a nice facility, a bit less money.

    I'm leaning toward TCCP...

    X, either/or...with a 3.5 we'd play 7.0, with a 4.0 or 4.5 we'd play 8.0.

    While I think we would be a dynamite 7.0 team, don't think I would be of much help in an 8.0 match. You'll be better off grabbing one of our sandbagging 3.5s (JRK, Magma, Sappy, Question, etc.) or one of the real 4.0s (pretty much all the rest).

    I'll probably enter singles at Leesburg, anyway, and don't think I could play two events. Sorry.:(

    BTW, I'm off tomorrow if anyone wants to hit. Should have new string in my new racquets by then.

    Referring to moi or someone else? I'm a 2.5 on a good day. Good luck w/your tournament @ Leesburg!

    Although I've improved a bit since last time you saw me, but not good enough to play any tournament. However, if you tell me when & where (college park, of course), I would like to come out and cheer you on!! :)

    And how would poly strings help? Aren't they kinda harsh on the arm/elbow?

    Couldn't do anything with his grip; he had to play dubs with that racquet as soon as my match was over. My wrist is worse today than it was yesterday - very tender, especially on the bottom. Dadhum it all to freezin' heck. :evil:

    hey HW, how did rqtmxx do your racquet extension? you got .5 inch right?
    i asked them about 1" but it sounds like it will be $$$. fark.

    ~~~~
    geez, wtf is wrong with gulbis. murray was trying to gift him that match but the idiot just swings too big when he doesn't have to and can't make an overhead to save his life.
    although the guy does remind me of how i manage to lose or almost lose matches to players that suXor... but i at least am learning to just roll the ball cross court and hit a few more shots instead of trying to make sportscenter top10 with every shot.
    i wish his coach would just run out on the court and slap his face. that would be awesome.
    Gulbis is already rich so he doesn't care. He just lands his private helicopter on the court, whacks a few balls, and then flys away to his private yacht.
    Sappy - No go for today... just as well. I forgot every Thursday night, Shirlington has a Jazz festival. Guapos would've been packed. I do have 50 beers at my house left over from the party we had on Saturday night though. You could come over and help me down those and then we could fly my micro-helicopters around drunk.
    Sup - I just remembered you still owe me 30 minutes of a tennis lesson.
