Gotcha. I'll pencil that in on my calendar, which I keep on a chain around my pet honey badger's neck. I call him Congress. :)

I ride a little bit. Id like to do it more though.

I got a bike rack on my car I never use. becuas enow i drive out of my driveway right to the state park. Sometimes when I drop my car off to get service Ill take the bike and ride home.

Why is it wrong to ride a bike atr Loch Raven? I know you cant swim in the water. But you cant ride bikes there either?

There was this big issue last year. At first it used to be that you couldn't ride there 24hrs after a rain, which I get. But apparently, there's a lot of sediment in the reservoir. The City, which actually owns the property, thinks that the erosion causing sediment is due to mountain biking. Which, I agree the trails closest to the actual water (which are the least fun, IMO), have problems. The inland trails...and more fun trails...not so much. So, the City hired people to be out there chasing down mountain bikers and issuing $100 tickets.

My theory (for all the .02 that it's probably worth) is that things like adjoining neighborhoods, building and the golf course (what with all the lawn chemicals) are causing far too much damage. Instead, mountain bikers are an easy target and are the type of people who can typically afford the tickets. I think it's all bogus, so I don't even attempt to ride there anymore. It's not like people are riding off trail...i used to go there most weekends and NEVER had a problem experiencing rude people or people not doing what they were supposed to do. People I've ridden with have always been good stewards of the land.

Yeah, you're probably right. It's the principle that out of nowhere that Baltimore City, who could spend its money better say on police officers that might actually catch criminals, than on mountain bikers.

Who wants to bust criminals, they dont generate revenue liek tickets do.

They need more red light cameras and those street vehicles that take your picture and send you a ticket.

I had one of those things in DC get me speeding right as I was crossing lanes. So it took two pictures of me in different lanes and sent me two tickets. And the genius of it is that those tickets dont accrue points on your liscense. So people like me ain't gonna drive down to DC to fight a 50 dollar ticket.

They keep tyring to set those up in BMore in school zones and the poeple keep strickin it down.

    TWMAC,

As mentioned, you should start the Thursday night social at Wakefield High School or some courts near you. Just this time, make sure to take at least a couple pics. What's a story without pics of away guy, booty shorts, JRS trying to start a fight by hitting stray balls into the dog park, or Dats/Auzzie with their arsenal of demo racquets... the list goes on.

I see on weather.com.. that it will be 66 degrees today at 6pm. Thats 1 degree above Sup's threshold.

So if you don't mind.."el jefe".. I say you guys do it! Just do it! Nike.. !

5-6pm meet up at the WHS. Then go to El guapos.. and the veterans you know what to do to the rookie. *insert Sappy pic*

    Happy Birthday whoever..

P.S. Downloading the remainder of my pg 13 Key West pics. Mainly bars, roosters that are loose all over the keys and some misc pics. Enjoy. If you want the rated R.. i better like you and you better be cleared for landing to come down here. Adios!

    Link coming for pics.

lol. did you just schedule an impromptu meet that you can't attend?

    what: PARTY AT JRK's!
when: when JRK takes baby rio to the store.
why: because JRK has all the best tech toys and booze.

i do want to hit outside. this indoor stuff is giving me a false sense of awesomeness. serves and overheads boom and echo. even my drop shots make a big KAPOW.

    Yes I did .. I suppose.

JRK's house is no good without him there.

Here is what happened last time.

JRK: Hey I need to go downstairs and give someone a parking permit. Can you hang around in the condo?
Sup *playing with his dogs*: Yeah sure. Seems okay
    JRk: Cool *leaves*

The second the door closed. It was Armageddon.

Just go to WHS and take pics.

    Dats,JRS, and Topaz

Since you guys have been here. There was some excitement at the condo complex yesterday. Someone forgot to hit the brakes in their new car and ran over the ledge into the canal. The fire dept had to crane the car out. She had a bump on the head and apparently was out pretty quick. Have a pic.

I like having parties at my place... I don't have to go anywhere.

I'm actually trying to get a poker night going, any takers? I need to know if there is any interest first.

Blinds would increase every 30 minutes. You can bet small children, pets, and spaceships used by smugglers.

Nothing beat the Dog Park feed.

But if you do go to towers park and booty shorts guy shows up team him up with the "King of the Court" AKA The greatest tennis instructor in the world. Remeber that guy that was always at the end court teaching some kid and acting like he was the founder of the PTR or whatever governing body governs tennis instructors.

    Yep that was the time.

Booty shorts guy was just some random dude that joined in with us to play dubs once. he was wearing those running shorts. JRK called him booty shorts guy and it stuck.

you have ALL been buggin me for updates with my gear.
well, EPOXY/BALSA experiment appears to have worked!!!
(except for nasty epoxy all over my hands and transferred
to various areas of the racquets as i mishandled them..ooops)
i tried nail polish remover but no dice, so don't look at my racquets
    real carefully!
however, one of the grips got trashed and one is barely useable, so in
my quest for perfection, i ordered 3 babolat skin feel grips to replace
them with. hopefully it doesn't change anything.
ordered a 30 pack of gamma supreme. really diggin it.
ordered a few packs of BBO. $15 a pack? wtf? i remember b!tch!n when it was
$10.. i guess i should've stocked up. i searched for days for a similar but cheaper string but i really like the way it is playing so why eff it up...

i took my setup to the courts and was emboldened to not only try the new racquet, with new customized length, ... but also tried a new forehand motion with much less backswing.

my wrist is still messed up, but for a while i was destroying the ball with pinpoint accuracy. i tried some 2nd serves and i was getting spin and placement in the box. AWESOME! hopefully when i play again i can build on this! cuz it was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

p.s. - in my searches i found numerous comments from "the Question"... who knew he was a gear-hound?!

p.s.s. - mr.C.Downs, i might be willing to trade 1 of my Argentian pro-stock 27.5" YY22s for a 27.5" Wilson H22. My sticks are obviously rarer and better but i heard you were a cool cat, so i don't mind the trade.

p.s.s.s - out of beer so i am drinking straight whiskey, just like J-woww's grandma does at 91. she gets props, cuz i'm halfway through my drink and absolutely wasted. go grandma!

p.s.s.s.s. - supposed to be camping but if it is raining, i will be at dogfish or similar location for happy hour 5ish 2morrow. hit me up if u want to buy me a drink. (willing to wear sombrero for beer!) woot

Is that the same grandma that kicked me out of the house when the crabs were coming?

I give her props because she has the biggest window i've ever seen in a house. It like instead of a wall there a window that over the water. The whisky thing only helps her gain points :)

The Question has all kinds of frames. I wonder how many Ping Pong paddles he has.

As I understand it the contract Im on has been paid upfront so Im coming in to work.

If anyone else is here for me to support is a different question.

More than likely it will be business as usual only the Government civilians will end up working for free.

    Dats,

It's 84, sunny and barely a cloud in the sky right now. I'm going to have quick bite at the bar by the pool and hit some tennis balls until sunset.

    When are you coming down?

P.s. All you basketball fans. I think the Knicks will play the Heat in the first round of the playoffs. Think it's worth it to buy tickets and go? Anyone a Lebron fan? I guess I should start cheering for the heat now.

If the standings stay they way they are then Heat vs Knicks. But BOS is slipping and Philly is hot so you could get BOS vs Knicks or Heat vs 76ers.

If it Heat vs Knicks you probably wont get more star power in a first round matchup. LeBron, Wade, Bosh vs Melo, Amare, and an aging Chauncey Billups.

Amare could best Bosh, and Melo can score at will. But the Knicks coach is inept and will let Wade demolish Billups all day.

Should fun games to watch though. There will be tons of scoring. If you can get some tix Id say go.

She had company coming over and wanted you to be miserable without a friend. I know how it is.

I dont mind somebody that dont eat crabs. That means more for me :)

Thats was good day with some crappy tennis. But that may have been the best Pizza I ever got from Pats. What was it Pepperoni, Sausage and extra cheese?

Next time I'm telling you Ercole's in Perryville will crush Pat's.

    Darn. Me too.

Oh wait. I have to go to work tomorrow too. Oh well!

    Hope all are well here.

Lost an important one this morning. Line #1 Dubs, with my fav/regular partner. She got hurt/injured 3 points in. Thought we could work through it. But we couldn't. They were just too consistent and I wasn't good enough to pick up the slack. Dang. 6-2, 6-4. Smarts. Haven't lost a regular season match in awhile.

    We'll bounce back.

Sorry all you gov't types...are still on the payroll. :p

Just pickin' atcha a bit. I was a "gov't type" for many of my "paid" career years. Wish both sides could just get along.

Zap...I was just jokin' with y'all a bit. I'm a stay-at-home Mommy. I work every day for no pay. And I know there are a lot of "working" moms out there, but I'll tell ya, staying home with two small children is the hardest job I've ever had. There is NO break and a huge amount of financial pressure. My husband works long hours and is lucky to be home to kiss them goodnight so I don't count on him to provide much relief. There are no vacations, no sick days, no weekends off. I cannot remember the last time my husband and I went out to dinner (at 7pm, without kids). Money, time and energy are in too short of supply.

But I'm not complaining. This is a lifestyle we actively chose for ourselves. And it will change as our daughters start to go to school. I should have a little time to do the things that haven't been done for almost 5 years, like regularly clean our house and do spruce-up projects to our slowly aging home.

I'll tell you this, though, should I ever find myself in the position of having to go back to work, I'll have one heck of a resume. Financial management, operations, training/teaching/mentoring...if I just put what it is that I do in business terms, it's all good stuff. When hubs had the misfortune to be laid off last year, and it was 6-months before he found something somewhat comparable, he saw my "job" on a daily basis. He knew I wasn't sitting home on the couch eating bon-bons all day but had no idea of the amount of chaos 2 small kids can make (and I have to corral or clean up behind). He does now and often thanks me for my efforts and admits he doesn't know how I do it.

Before becoming Mommy, I had a 20-year career in both civil engineering and IT...much of it with government (local and state). And hate it when I hear or read about "cushy" gov't jobs or slack gov't workers. Sure there were a few folks in The System who didn't pull their weight, but that's true in the private sector as well. Been there, too, and saw that. Most of my fellow co-workers were diligent and often quite passionate about what they did.

    Rant over.

Still bemoaning my/our loss yesterday. Gotta learn to let it go, AQ.

AQ -- you're right about watching kids being ridiculously draining. many a time i've stayed home with my 2 sick kids and it's exhausting. i look forward to going back to work. agree too about most gov workers being hard working, diligent folks. sadly the minority give the rest a bad name.

^^^ AQ and TM, agreed on all counts.

How old are your kids? Mine are 9, 6, and 3. Two girls and a boy, in that order.

We saw how beat up we were when we had our first that we told ourselves we had to space them out to 3 years apart otherwise we'd go crazy. We also didn't want them to be spaced too far apart either. For us, the 3 year difference makes it much more tolerable as the older kid doesn't need much attention by the time the younger one comes out.

Thanks, guys. Nice to have a little outside validation.

Our girls are 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. There's no way a third one was in the cards for us. No mas! I can certainly understand the age separation thing...but I gotta admit PaulMan, had we gotten the first one out of diapers...not sure I would have gone back for the second. In fact, that was the timeframe I gave hubs for having child #2. If #1 was diaper-free, one of us was making an appointment with some scissors. As it turns out, the stick turned pink literally one week before that appointment. Musta been meant to be.

Plus, I'm an older mommy...and the genetic numbers just don't look all that great after 35 and go through the roof after 40. Child #2 arrived two weeks before my 43rd birthday and that's more than enough reason to stop. Realistically, we both wanted a boy but that didn't happen so we're pleasantly content to raise two little cutie girls...and get our shotgun cleaning equipment out in another decade. :p

I call it a Job and a Joy. And my oh my how that one little (ending) letter makes a difference.

And...it all puts tennis in perspective. I love my girls; I love my time on court. If only for that 1.5 or 2 hours, I can be me -- the loud, aggressive tomboy. Instead of swimming in a sea of pink clothes, pocketbooks and nail polish (their choice, not mine, I assure you). But at the end of the match, win or lose, I've got a great family to go home to. And they will love me and hug me and kiss me no matter how sweaty, stinky, elated or disappointed I am.

No, no, no, Zap. Wasn't meant that way. I have a lot of respect for the folks that make the world work. And that includes those that work nights, weekends and swing shifts. :)

this is all incredibility touching. now i miss my village of kids whom i've shoved in the suburbs of china hoping to never have to deal with them again.. but today i think i'll send them $100, that should supplement them for years along with the job that i've already given them at a nike factory.

More people should be like you. I realize that I'm entirely too selfish to have children, but I'm the best aunt in the world :) I wish more people took parenting as seriously as you do, because I think it would make the world a better place. Kudos for doing what you do!
