Thank you – I just like to hang behind the baseline and thrash the ball into submission. :)

I admire your flawless techniques (see long post above), as well as Zapvor’s classic topspin form. But since I tend to use unconventional methods, I learned that heavier and flexier racquets with open string patterns tend to protect me from harm’s way. :)

When I first took up tennis, I promptly gave myself a series of stereotypical tennis injuries. So I had to learn the hard way about equipment, including racquet weight/flex, arm-friendly strings, cushioned shoes and even shoe inserts. Now, you could say that I am an expert on such matters, as I learned from several of the best tennis injury experts on these boards. :)

Unfortunately not available; but in any case, mere pictures and video would still not do adequate justice to superlative narrative prose. :)

Shintan and Zapvor are looking forward to the meet. Unfortunately I may not be attending because I have to pick up Down Dog from work. [Sup2Dresq is familiar with an event at Rock Creek Park this past fall, when I showed up in time to greet him, then had to take off.]

TFM, I should also apologize for missing you guys at the Virginia event last Monday evening. Another example of picking up Down Dog at her office, then realizing that traffic precludes a quick sprint across the Metro area toward the tennis facilities before the scheduled event expired. Only our fearless leader Sup has those superhuman powers.

However, I believe you (and JRStriker?) mentioned that you’re in Bethesda/Rockville, so I'd absolutely look forward to an impromptu marathon hitting session when the weather cooperates (late 40s/early 50s F, no wind, no precip). :)

also- i got to hit with a volkl for the first time- C10 pro. very stable. it also felt stiff to me though. maybe because of the wind. haha remember right when Shin left i started to splay everything. but then i got a bit more used to it. i think thats how you can tell how good someoen is at tennis-if they can just pick up any stick and hit with it, they are good.

I was thinking the same thing Shin. Bad Dog is a loquacious one and very generous with his praise. I'd love to hit with Bad Dog and see what he says.

"TFM hit some of the most mundane groundstrokes I've ever been privileged to witness. It was a wonder he could clear the net with his immeasurable pace generated by his flawed swing. Trading shots with TFM is as pleasurable as watching latex satin finish lose its moisture in the arid winter air."

Still nicer than Sup's comments about me: "hit with a decent player the other night". Decent? That's like saying a Ferrari is a decent car. I'm SUPER decent at least. Maybe even ULTRA decent. :(

I do like Bad Dog's sugar coated versions.

I however call like it is Chevy Cobalt (TFM)..

Please remember I've been blessed to hit with some great pro players, so decent = cobalt.. is better than me calling you a junked out Pinto with a bad alternator.

It's not mean.. its a Sup compliment. Now guess who I think is a KIA Spectra.

My opinion shouldn't carry any "heft". What do I know :?... :)

LOL. Indirectly using all my thoughts to start threads.. I need to start copyrighting them.

I'm a lowly Honda S2000. I'm hoping to get to better again and become an italian/german sports car again.. but alas.

Be glad you aren't the person I think is a BMW Isetta

Sup says he thinks he's a Honda S2000 but to me he can't be a Japanese 4-banger. He never looks like he's working hard. So to me he's probably a big German V8 with a ton of HP and torque loafing around the court at 3000 RPMs. Say some AMG Benz - take your pick.

Topaz could very well be a top of the line Mini Cooper but it would be more fun if she was a Mini Cooper Convertible and she would take her off now and again. She'd be invited to more events - not just tennis ones either.

I've never seen Zap play but I have seen his shorts. I am thinking he's an older model Honda CRX but pimped out 2 Fast, 2 Furious style blasting 50 Cent through the hoods of Eastern Maryland or is that EMD?

I've hit with Shin and he's an Acura Integra Type R. His strokes have great pace but it looks like he has to work so hard. I don't see Shin lasting more than 125,000 miles tops. Go get your prostate checked dude.

JRstriker to me is more like a Cadillac SRX. It's big but you get to a stoplight and it takes you by surprise by how fast it is. Unfortunately this Caddy has a much stronger passenger side than driver side. Needs some more Bondo on the driver side.

KoreanHB is my Seoul brother and he's gotta be a Hyundai. I'm thinking Tiburon V6 SE. Small displacement V6 sounds about right.

TheJRK I've hit with twice. Both times in doubles. Both times his serve was good but his groundies way off. I think he's in Hawaii as we speak. Bastidge. To me he's a Jeep Wrangler lounging on the beach sipping on a mai tai.

How nice of you. I'm not sure I'm worthy.

I'm still a hard critic. Do I agree with all the choices you guys made here. I would say "Yes".. *waits for shocked look*..

    JRStriker..

Sup knows of this format. It was played at the mixed tournament you didn't attend. Its popular amongst junior training sessions. This set up was already in the works.

Thanks though. You are still our flashy caddy.

I was playing around with my descriptions ... and "temperamental" or safin-like is too strong ... probably just too hard on yourself when things aren't rolling perfectly.

magmasilk> Acura RL: not too bad at anything

A 4.0 can't be a cobalt. My WAG is that a 4.0 is better than 80% of the world. In the whole spectrum of cool/fast cars, a cobalt is no where close to near the 80th percentile. Of course my car impressions could be skewed by where we live ...

Yeah - VA has some people with some sick cars.

BMW's, Mercs, and Hummers are like the Ford Taurus, Toyata Camry, and Chevy pick-up trucks of NoVa.

You see all types in Tysons Corner. I saw a black 4-door Bentley the other day in Tysons AND a red Ferrari Testerosa parked over by Comp USA/Sport Authority (BTW- the Kabob place over there is money!).

Over the past few years I've seen a Lambo with a spyder top, serveral vipers, and a dude doing like 100+ in a Ferrari on the toll road. I coun't tell which model- he was going too fast.

topaz - i'm gonna sit in the corner and think about what i've done. Iif you hear snoring -- please don't disturb me -- i'm just thinking really hard.

magma -- i like your line of thinking but i think a chevy cobalt ss is probably in the top 20% of cars in terms of speed (maybe barely). just not very refined. or good looking. or reliable. or sexy. *shakes fist* curse you Sup! i hope those microgel prestiges turn your right arm into spaghetti and you are forced to play left handed. i bet left handed you are a Ford Festiva.

JRstriker -- we used that round robin format in that mixed doubles tourney that my partner and i won. i believe Sup and Topaz lost to some guy in a wheelchair and this old lady in a walker just before the finals. Sup's gonna say i won in the junior varsity kiddie half of the draw but even if it was the retarded league -- I'M THE KING OF THE RETARDS!

PP -- you coming out this weekend for the TW MAC Meet or is it hard to juggle school, tennis and drinking to excess? I'll bring a couple of Dos Manos for you - maybe even Ocho Manos.

    TWMAC Meeting -2/23/08

    Hey guys,

I'm sure we can all agree that getting court time for more than 1 court at one time, has become a 'mission impossible'. It appears all the senior citizens book the best times for the season.

    There is hope.

Annandale Sport and Health is the place to be. The wheels are in motion. Think early afternoon and for those with a little spare time, there may be a little after meeting food fest at Todai.

I'll confirm the final outcome by later today.

    Thanks
    "El Jefe/Guapo/Magnifico"
    Sup
