My partner is stuck in Philly. :(

I'll be there to cheer though!!!

Edit: or maybe not! Too much going on tonight! If I don't see you, good luck and remember, it isn't a mixed match until you hit the girl!!! ;)

(I really hope I never end up on the other side of the net from you in a mixed match!)

We'll have our babolat conversation soon though, very very soon!

I heard!!! Crazy stuff...but I'm convinced the Tennis Gods were in charge of the outcome of that match! :) Never a dull moment!

    Good playing tonight!

My 7.0 team has clinched districts! Ironic, since my 7.0 record is much much worse than my 8.0 record!

Your worst nightmare & you just can't wake up! lol

Downs, you should be used to that by now! One of your old dubs partners last year was always playing like he was angry at someone or the world!

    Congrats on Districts Topaz!

nah...this guy doesn't compare...he was totally stalling...double faulting on purpose to lose a set to get into the tie-breaker...telling other people to hurry up...definitely the biggest jerk i've seen in usta tennis...he wouldn't even shake our teams hand at the end! seriously, it's not like this is professional tennis...haha

Sounds like karma based on the way this guy played.

BTW- I may finally get to pick up a racket some time soon.

Anyone want to hit with a out of practice, out of shape wookie?

The Tennis Gods at work there. I wish I could have seen that. Hopefully there will be none of that on Sunday!

And really, that team was at the bottom of the pack...even a win wouldn't have pushed them into playoff contention. I don't know the dude, and I don't want to either.

Congrats on Mixed Districts, Topaz. I can come root you on here in Richmond...as we won't be playing ourselves -- a crushing 0-3 loss last week to one of the other top teams kinda did us in. We're playing the top team this weekend in our last match...but I don't think even a 3-0 win (which ain't gonna happen) would even change anything for us although it might shake up the seedings for the playoffs.

And...my 3-year 7.0 win streak is o-v-e-r. Partner and I lost 12-10 in the TB...after serving for it at 9*-8. Oh well. No shame. We played well, so did our opponents.

Nothing spectacular for dinner this week. Darn.

Here is what Dats and Jwow shared the other day at the club.

p.s. Ironic how Dats had managed to make a buffalo wing sauce goatee when we ate at the beach (teased by Jwow), but Jwow managed a ketchup/mayo/mustard goatee with this burger. Funny. All in good fun.

AQ! We are going to be in Midlothian (which you probably already know), is that close for you?

Won't you have 7.0 playoffs though?

Like I said, it's very ironic. My 7.0 record is terrible. 8.0...much better. But that team hasn't yet qualified and if we go into playoffs, who knows what the heck will happen. I *hate* playoffs!!!

    100 YO Grease Burger Excursion

Yes it would be great for those that caould join up in Memphis for the "100 YO Grease Burger Excursion"

We wil eat some BBQ Nachos, the aforementioned 100YOGB, and probably some ribs, and some toher stuff. Slug some tennis balls. Maybe watch some AAA baseball where I can heckle the guys for not being in the Major Leagues.

I may even put an elvis suit on and sing some Karaoke. Hopefully there is some hot Japanese broads around. I hear those Japanese broads like them some middle age fat Elvis impersonators. You know the elvis that ate too many 100YOGB's and died on the tiolet.

Had a tiny Japanese woman as a mixed dubs partner once here in Mempho; she bowed to me every time I hit a good shot. That is a wonderful experience, I'm here to tell ya.

Woodman, never, ever dis Oriental women...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3TPmiAnkAs&feature=related

And Coolblue - glad to meet ya, by the way - you can ask 20 locals about their favorite BBQ place here and you'll get 20 answers. And every one will be right. You can't go wrong here on BBQ, I guarantee it. But you can get fat trying. ;-)

Yes. Recommendation for good gas mileage and practicality =

Well, good gas mileage anyway. And a killer color, to boot. :)

BTW, strung the Y Tis today and hit against a wall and tried some serves. Strung one with Gamma SG 17 at 58 lbs, the other with Gamma Zo Twist 16 at 57 lbs. Liked the Twist better on serves, but may have it too tight. Hard to tell what ground strokes are really doing against a wall, but will play with both in a real match tomorrow.

Any suggestions on tension for the Twist??? Anyone???

    32 pounds ftw, Xisbum!

Why get a new car?!? You work from home and the money spent on a car could detract from future racquet purchases!!

I was actually being serious :). The frame is light (10.2 oz), has a lot of spin, and 68 flex. So if i were putting a stiff string into it, I'd probably try low tensions. Stiff strings when strung loosely work surprisingly well, have good touch, still give control, and maybe even more spin than traditional tensions.

was really disappointed when they discontinued the v8. they do twin turbo now.

I saw a Nissan Skyline the other day in Rosslyn. I was speechless.
also saw a Phantom there too.
seems like between all the young professionals, Georgetown, and the overseas oil tychoons, rosslyn is the place to check out nice cars.
