The thing you get the with the webers is the hoods of a weber grill are way thicker than the brinkmans, char-broils etc.. Meaning they have much better heat retention. Cooking steaks, burgers and dogs it wont matter. But if you are gonna throw something in there for a while it should cook a little faster and probably more even.

When I moved in my house my mom told me she woudl buy me a grill as housewarming gift. We went and looked and I almost bought a genesis, then i saw this grill called a Char-Griller Duo. It had a gas grill on side and a charcoal grill on the other side. I thought how great when time is of the essence i can just fire up the gas part. I bought the side smoker box for it as well it was an extra 70 bucks. I used the gas grill one time so far in three years. I use the side burner to light my charcoal chimney then so I have never even filled up the propane tank in three years. Instead of paying 400 plus for a grill it costed mom 280. Needles to say she was happy.

If I had it to do over again I would have just bought the charcoal grill with the smoker box and never messed with the gas side.

This is the one I have and its freaking huge.

This is the one I would rather have. Its slightly cheaper and smaller. I have even seen a side charcoal lighter/burner accesory that uses the small LP bottles.

topaz -- i believe there's a penang in reston. never been but penang is a small restaurant chain in a few locations on the east coast. beef rendang. that's what you want. look it up.

downs -- we're gonna be the best fricking waterboys ever. i hope we get to carry racquet bags too!

sweet. seems like I am better off getting two things separately. I love charcoal but its really hard to control the heat and waiting to heat up. I grill 3 times a week. (twice a week in winter time). so i wanted something easy to preheat.

The gas will be faster for sure.

But using the side burner to light the charcoal in the charcoal chimney saves a bunch of time. I use hardwood lump for stuff that needs to cook fast. It burns hotter and faster, which makes it tough to smoke with. but some hardwood lump and a handful of woodchips is perfect to cook anything on that needs less than an hour.

Those Charcoal Chimneys really work. Alot of people use newspaper but a if you take a couple papertowles and spray a little pam on them they will burn longer and more comlpete than newspapder and you dont get as much ash floating through the air.

zap zap zap -- once again i don't think you've really thought it out. $6000 is a solid chunk of money but it's not enough to satisfy auzzie's crazy appetite for racquets. not even close.

at $200 a stick that's only 30 racquets. hahahaha. auzzie had a big dinner last night and shat out 30 racquets.

at $100 a stick that's 60 racquets. that's probably the number of racquets auzzie tested out last month.

at $50 a stick that's 120 racquets. it's nothing to laugh at for most people. but for auzzie it IS something to laugh at. it's ridiculous. epic fail. might as well tell beethoven that he can write a symphony but he's limited to 120 notes.

120 racquets is a normal demo session for Auzzie...he usually backs up a uhaul to the courts...then spends the first 30 minutes unloading all his new toys for the week...

but seriously, the guy buys "LOTS" of old rando frames...haha, who does that?

that's some interesting math. I doubt I am the worst racquet tester offender in TWMAC though. I'd be willing to bet there are black market racquet dealers posting on this very page!

i'd probably rather donate the money towards building an indoor tennis stadium for TWMAC (even though it would probably only cover the paint for the lines)...
hold on, why am i getting the mail order money???? who's ordering?!?

LOL. i'm stealing that. "rando" has to be my favorite lazy man's abbreviation ever.

has anyone else had that el floridano sandwich that sapient keeps yapping about? is it the be all end all? does it beat bonchon chicken and beer slushies? or it more the kai rabert of lunch food?

I called that number like two months ago and got this hot chic to come over to the house. We hadnt gotten married yet though. I had to call the nuimber and complain though. I have transcribed the conversation.

Bride people "Hello, how can we help you" (They are quite professional)

Me - "I purchased one of your girls and want to get a refund or a new girl"

Bride People - "whats the problem "

Me - "Well you said garunteed virgin and shes not a virgin anymore"

Bride people "so she was not a virgin when you recieved the merchandise, we assure you she was when we sent her out"

Me - "She was, but she is not anymore I want a refund"

Bride people - "Sir, if the merch was a virgin when recived we fulfilled our end of the bargain"

Me - "You guys garunteed virgin, and I gar-on-tee much like the Cajun cook that she is not a a virgin I want a new girl or my money back"

Bride people - "The Cajun Who"

Me- "Thats not important, what is imprtant that a get a new virgin girl at my doorstep in a weeks time. Im having a very special party and need her here by then"

Bride poeple - "What kind of party"

Me - "Well you see, I know this guy he is not very smooth with the lady's. He spend all his time on the internet looking at upskirts pics of tennis players and random pics of this other chic who thinks she way hotter than she is but becuase she is the only girl who posts pics of herself he still thinks she is super hot. You see he just sits in room with botlles of Auzzie mega and packs of Bar-S"

Bride people rudely interupting "What is Auzzie Mega and what are Bar-S"

Me - "Auzzie Mega is this shampoo you can get in like 100oz bottles with a pump on the top for like 8 bucks, and Bar-S is like the hotdogs poor poeple eat"

Bride people interupting again - "Wait so you are saying he looks at upskirt pics of Maria Kirlenko, Sharapova, and Wozniaki while sitting in a room with hot dogs and Shampoo"

Me - "well its cheap shampoo, and low quality hot dogs and I think he secretly has a thing for the fatter tennis players"

Bridee people now calm again - "Sir, you sound like a guy who has his head on his shoulders but this Hot dog and shampoo guy is a sicko. We can not send you another virgin jsut so this guy can have his way with a hot chic."

They hang up the phone and never answer again.

what does it have in these sammys? must try, variety is pretty dry on that area. had anyone Crumbs cupcake? its in lefant as well. the cupcakes are bigger than other places and not bad but if I have to have one, georgetowns or curbside is still the best.

    +1

My Weber grill has a gas system for lighting the charcoal. Seems to knock off a good 10-15 minutes off the process.

This is quite possibly the worst concept vehicle I have ever seen.

Whats the concept? Take a Wrangler unlimited put a winch on it bigger tires and better shocks. They may have sloped the grill back a little but it almost looks liek a Unmlimited with big tires no top and maybe nicer upohlstery.

BTW- Anyone think the Veloster should have been the revised CRX that Honda built?

I got some noodles at Mandarin Inn in Rockville.

Just found out about these video game figurines called Skylanders? I have a nephew thats crazy about them.

I am sticking my charcoal chimney on my sideburner tonight to grill some chicken. Hopefully my semi-rusting gas grill won't go up in flames.

They should of put a bigger engine in the Velosters. It's a fast looking slow car. Heard Hyundai is going to put either a 2.0T or a V6 later in the year. We'll see.

agreed veloster looks good. drives slow. like minivan slow. i take that back - that's an insult to minivans. turbo veloster will be better.

honda messed up the cr-x successor. the cr-z looks great. understated design. but nobody wanted a fricking hybrid. screw you honda. put the civic si engine in the cr-z and we have a winner.

but for a little more money than either of these two cars -- the scion fr-s and subaru brz is a far far better car. unfortunately dealers are going to mark them up to 30+ grand cars.

I've heard of skylanders but haven't checked them out. Sound like some sort of collectible figure that you can import into a game.

Yeah, a bigger engine would be nice, but if I was about 10 years younger and looking for a car that had a good looks/price/utility/gas mileage combination, I'd probably look at one.

Why would want a jeep Wrangler when I already have the International Scout? That jeep is trying to be half as cool as my scout. My scout even has the rust on the rocker panles already.

Now that Coamche is awesome. I almost bought an old Comanche to run to the the dump and pick up mulch an haul stuff.

I dont what what that snub nose thing is buts also kinda cool. My Dad had an old Ford econoline truck that had the snub nose and my Uncle Mac still has one. Reminds me of those just bigger.

My frind has a 10 year old son that is all about Skylanders. Whenever they go into a store they buy whatever one they can find. most of thime it turns out that he has them already then they sell them on **** for at least twice as much as they cost.

The BRZ and FR-S handle great but are slow 0-60 according to inside line- they clocked a 7.3 0-60 (rev limiter requires a shift at about 59mph) http://www.insideline.com/subaru/brz/2013/2013-subaru-brz-full-test-and-video.html .

A brand new 1999 civic SI would have clocked 7.2 to 60 and the 2012 SI was clocked at 7.0 to 60.

But if you want a Porsche handling for a relatively low price, can't go wrong with the BRZ/FRS.

civic si, mazdaspeed 3, gti, etc -- all front wheel drive. *yawn*

brz, fr-s = rear wheel drive. much much more fun to drive in both straight lines and corners and empty parking lots when it snows.

wookie - three kids means you can't look at even sport sedans anymore. it has to be a large 5+ seater that can handle 3 car seats. i recommend a minivan. they are ugly as all get out -- but they are amazingly practical. and you can escape your kids and watch tv in your minivan when you need to get away.

Flat 4's and Flat 6's are really nice for sports cars. Nice lower center of gravity for handling. Plus the inherent characteristic of the cylinders in flat engines have less vibration than that of inlines and v engines.

Edit: Also didn't realize it had such stellar steering - quick steering ratio (13.1) plus great feel. This makes driving a sports car extremely fun.

    I can dream...... can't I???

Really don't want a mini-van. Looking at an infinity JX maybe. 3-rows, 7 seats. Is mini-van-ish without being a mini van.

Twins totally blew my plans for a sporty-sedan or wagon.
