Tmonk v2012 is a lean, mean, slicing machine on the  payroll. He rolls hard on the court.

Sup, I must confess, I'm not even sure who is playing Rome.

    So, with that disclaimer...

    Nadal.

He's kinda p*ssed off. If not him, Joko. They both need a bit of redemption. I could see Federer kinda gliding through too. Dark horse nation would be JMdP or Daveeeeed.

    Tmonk for Rome! Nice.

I challenge sappy to a tequila drinking contest followed by a left handed only game of darts.

sup. maybe you are playing with my words a little too much.. but i'll restate it for clarification. tmonk will take on what ever challenges the south FL chapter wants to throw at him.. speaking of the FL chapter. it appears to be in a state of coma and/or hibernation. can you restart their engine over there. k tx

Sappy aka "Don King", I am sure Tmonk "aka young Mike Tyson", can help you train for your tequilla challenge.

I cannot restart SFTC as easily as I thought.

    1. Most of the tennis players down here are too busy outside on the court and under the sunshine, to check the internet.

    2. There is an insane amount of tennis at multiple locations down here. No desperate need to find a dry court or tournament. Watch good tennis, watch bad tennis, play good tennis, play bad tennis... it's a lot of tennis no matter how you slice it.

    3. No asians. I cannot persuade the cuban, polish or germans (primary tennis groups down here) as easily as the groups up north. Most are too loud to talk over, too bullish to not question everything , and not persuaded by meats and free meals as easily. jk lol.

    4. The only thing that seems to get most of the guys (and some of the girls attention) besides tennis are:

    this

OK, now I know I'm in the right place. Not quite sure why, but I liked that show.

No tequila. But I'll man-up to a game of darts. I might can hit the board lefty...but righty...gimme a shot of chilled rum, Hard to Handle on the jukebox...and we'll go an 01, cricket, diddler's choice round. Never did throw a Ton80, but I've got a few 9-mark patches. All ladies team I was on for a few years was called The Pointer Sisters. Extra brownie points if you know what I'm talkin bout, Willis.

Hubs and I actually have a nice set-up in our garage. Don't get to play as much as we used to. And competitive darts, out the window with a family. Can't be traipsing around to hole-in-wall joints, in less than savory sides of town til Midnight during the week. But damn it was fun when I was single.

sappy - don't volunteer me for bets. i don't need you writing checks my body can't cash.

sup - still prince sticks. but not buying more. they have cheap paint jobs. get drak and panterka and some south florida members and we'll do a TWMAC vs TWSF olympics.

    downs - what's for lunch?

just got my ezone xi! swings heavier than 11oz. just leaded it up to 12.4 oz. debating whether I should take out the poly tours on there. racquet is a lot more square than my prev yonex's. very comfy on the swing..
really want to put some rip control on there.

    Topaz...check your email. :p

Others, dinner tonight was a pulled-together stir-fry that turned out awesome. You should've seen me bangin' my cleaver on the frozen flank steak to break off the portion to use this evening. My kids think it's a hoot that mommy gets to "bang" on things in the kitchen. Ha!

Tennis washed out yesterday with the weather, today because the tinniest Angle has Strep. Yuck! At least Big Sister only seems to be a carrier.

Since we're headed to Bal'i'mer for a short vacay next week...any suggestions for things to do/places to eat other than the obvious (Aquarium/Port Discovery)? We'll also be in DC for a quick 24 hr, probably to do one of the Smithsonians and visit some family friends who (like us) are fans of Mandalay.

Wish I could bring my sticks with me but Hubs would, literally, have a heart attack. :p

have fun at the Smithsonian. u should make a trip to Dulles for the big air and space museum. they have the space shuttle there now. u could sneak ur stick and play at east potomac park. I always play there after work. its really beautiful there. if u are at rec mall and don't mind a short trip across the 14th str bridge, u can get the best afgan kabobs at kabob palace in crystal city.

AQ, thanks!!!! I shared it with our other player tonight at practice. I lost to her two years ago and would like another crack, but confidence is a bit shaky. :( Gotta get the eye of the tiger going!!!!

When are you going to be in DC?

Cool...do you play DC league? Would I ever run into you at EPTC?

not very likely. I usually go there early summer or fall outside or winter indoors finishing before 5pm. playing by the, even though, very polluted potomac, is still very nice. the indoor courts are horrible, even though I pay $30 each time and complain.

I should join a league once in my lifetime but its too much commitment. I usually just call friends or try to go to a twmac meetup to play.

That would be nice. And the O's actually have a day game next Weds, but it's Field Day and the place will no doubt be overrun with kids, not execs taking a long lunch. With even the nose-bleed seats being $25@ and it being Nap Time, we'll probably just pass this time. Night games are completely out of the question. My crew is asleep by 7:45pm every night. It's awesome!

In my time, I've seen plenty of ball games, mostly from, quite literally, the front row. Hubs and I had season seats just above the visitors dugout here in Richmond for 20 years...til the Braves pulled out and the new ownership doubled the prices AND never bothered to offer existing/long-time ticket holders a chance to get their seats. So F 'em. And all of the MLB with 'em. I'm sick of the high ticket prices, concessions prices, player salaries and b/millionaire owners blackmailing taxpayers for the latest and greatest stadiums. All to play a freakin' game.

    /Rant over

Nah, we're trying to keep the schedule light, with just one main activity each day and plenty of time to venture off the beaten path. And since littlest Angle is still recovering from Strep (and who know who's next to get it), we'll tread lightly on whatever we attempt.

No worries, HW. And I didn't really mean to get on the soapbox. I really had forgotten about the Os even being in town but Hubs is actually in charge of the itinerary this time.

Yep, Mixed Districts is here in the Richmond metro area the weekend of June 8-10. I hesitate to say "Richmond" because the host club is way over the heck on the other side of town, in the middle of a very large PUD. Not quite as big as Reston, but the same (half-*** Yankee come-here) mind-set, if you get my drift.

Please remind your teammates to be careful when setting up accommodations. The host club is Midlothian Tennis Club "MTC" and NOT....Midlothian Athletic Club (MAC). While in the grander scheme they're not that far from each other, they are not the same. MTC indeed has clay and most of the Richmond teams that'll be at Districts (7.0 & 8.0) are also from "clay" clubs.

I have promised Topaz a Triple Chocolate Mousse and it seems I'll have to make two of them since both her teams made it...but I'm leaving it up to her to provide the "where (and when) to deliver." I'm in a USTA match myself on that Saturday afternoon but I truly am hoping to sling by and have a mini-TWMAC meet up, albeit not to play.

If I could, I'd arrange for some practice time at my club...but we're just too far away to make it worth your while. And I don't know doodly about most of the facilities South of the James.

yes, he recommended it. I know why he gets his stringing buddy to do it for him. =P Took me 20 minutes longer to string them wet noodles through my stick. To add to insult, I had two consecutive same sided cross weaves. Tied it before I noticed. (wanted to blame it on tmonk, but really my newborn was crying for a feeding and got distracted but these strings are really wet noodles. they remind of either hollow cores or maxim touch)

i hope they are crispy strings.

Couldn't even remember my login and password, had to use the forgot password feature...

Anyways, went to Walmart this morning to get some balls before work, and saw something that's $79.99 on the racquet rack...Head Microgel Challenge OS? Anybody heard of that?

Then I looked down, they had Prince O3 White for $99.99? Anybody else see something similar at their Walmart?

Sorry I cant help you there. The last Wal mart I went in was in South Dakota.

Plus I dont really go looking at frames. I got 7 Techniwood 370's that wont be getting replaced anytime soon.

I read an article on Grantland today about Ping-Pong. In it the guy says in a footnote that poeple say not to call it that but then hears members of the olympic team calling it just that.

So Ping-Pong is here to stay baby :)

    Just saw Rome Open today.
I think player of the day award goes to Seppi on his win today against Warwinka? Did anyone see? 5-2 down on the third to win 7-6 (was down 6-3 on the tiebreaker).

And i think if I had to learn one FH, it'll be Delpo's. They guy can take it all in French Open (if he doesn't make so many Unforced Errors).

After watching fed so many times, I still dislike him. The man's technique is just too perfect. Unbelievable.

    I'm just saying :)

If you are still around we will have to meet up one day at Fallston like we did that time. That aint too far a drive for you if I remeber correctly. Unless you just wanna come over to my house play some pong? You still my number? four-fiftynine sixty-nine fifteen with a fourtizzen area code?

Oh and here is the article in case you were intersted.

CB -- rip control is my string of choice. but i'm trying some new poly hybrid combos.

downs -- another tiebreak for me last night. i'm getting pretty good at these things. team monkey downs in full effect this weekend.

hollywood -- funny you mention ping pong. this week, took my niece to her soccer practice in potomac. at the practice was a community center. in the gym - they must've had 20 ping pong tables arranged in rows and the place was packed. easily 60-70 people in there. mix of mostly middle school and high school kids and older guys and a smattering of ladies. half the group was chinese and the remainder was white and black. all of them playing and challenging each other. pretty cool to watch.

Saw the WaWa-Seppi match, and Seppi was hitting some really tough shots. Liked WaWa's outfit better, but Seppi played just a tad better tennis.

Delpo really punishes that forehand, doesn't he? And I understand he's a nice kid, too. Hope he can make it back into top form.

I envy Federer, but how can you dislike perfection? IMO, he's what we all strive to be. Plus he somehow gets by the 3-racquet rule. Maybe that's why you don't like him? :)

    How's the ankle?

P.S. Do any of you kind folks use the iPhone app called RacquetTune?

I just got this app. Pretty neat and seems fairly accurate. It can sometimes have issues with not being able to take the tension (probably because of background noise) but it gives you an idea of your tension over time. Enjoy!

i think it's official. I am the official fed hater of TWMAC. dang perfectionalist!

ankle sux goat's (fill in the blank). Found out from monday's MRI that I got a stress fract on top of the ankle. at least all my ligaments are alot better. Unfortunate to say, my McDavid Level 3 ankle brace feels and supports better than the one my ortho wrapped.

I want to get out to hit with my new stick!

Anyone getting into FB stock today?
