topaz...good 8.0 season! we were soo close to nationals! if my partner and i win our match, or if you're partner is on his normal game, then we beat the sectional champs MD and move forward...oh well -- like i always say, we still have to go to work next week! fun season nonetheless...great playing!

    Downs!!! AAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! SO CLOSE!

You guys had the tough one though. B and I should have pulled that out. I keep banging my head over it. I don't know how I was hitting half the shots I was...but it wasn't enough. B, I think, just wasn't warmed up or woken up. The lack of warmup wasn't good for his serving arm. Can't really complain, he's an awesome partner!!! I'm considering trying to not get moved up so we can keep on going! (he is probably rooting for me to get bumped, haha!)

Perhaps we can at least take a 7.5 combo team to the VA title? I still haven't heard back from our Firedragon friend.

For those at home...our 8.0 team came in second, making us Mid-Atlantic 8.0 finalists. Got some swag, too. Going into the final match today, the MD team and us were tied on ALL numbers, individual wins, sets lost and even games lost. Only they were 2-0 and we were 1-1. Funny, that tennis math. And only 7 games separated the 3rd place team (our fellow NOVA compatriots) from us.

yep....soo close! oh well...the lack of warmup didn't help...stupid rain! i wished we were outside...i like the hot sun, the wind, and all the elements...plus it would've slowed the ball down a little, from that HUGE hitter that A and I played...

I went to a tourney this weekend to support a friend's match. I was really amazed how well the opposite dress in their attire? I mean, no one wore t-shirts and shorts. Almost all the female players wore something that either came from the attire shop in TW. I was wondering if that's the norm?

They wanna look good whether they're playing good or bad??

Whereas, some of us like to wear one sweaty gray JMU t-shirt everywhere, while kicking serious arse - zing! haha

10, 9, 8, 7... til HW mentions some wear basketball shorts with no pockets...

dude, these ladies were sporting threads that costs alittle less than their racquets. Is this a trendy dating scene? I do notice though most folks in tourneys are single. I guess another hook up place besides the bar or the internet (if they don't mind the CL killer)

you are talking about late 20's early 30's folks who normal diet on the courts are moonballs and oversize racquets.

talk about diet. What's everyone eating right now?

I wear a tuxedo when I play. Except I don't play, I just sit courtside and drink a martini. Eventually my opponent gets bored and leaves.

    Game, set, and match. ;-)

So your saying these single broads show up to these tourneys to look cute and pick up dewds?

Do they not pay ateention to how attractive a dude looks and just decide to take him on how hard he serves?

When is the next tournament? I will go practice serves today. SUp I need you come up here and string one of sticks with gut again. Like 45 lbs gut I may hit 130 and then id be Giggitying all over the place.

    Giggity.

Natural gut strings are sweet. I have been playing with a hybrid and after letting some peeps check out the strings, several have converted. Now if only they would take my advice on shoes!

Plastic man turns into his own car. Top that!

Now if only plastic man could learn a kick serve. JRK seriously ruined me for teaching by not being able to learn the kick from me.

Didn't notice what the guys wore? All men, including myself, are ugly.

But the ladies were wearing clothes from Stella McCarthy collection and Nike Dresses. I haven't been to a tourney for over a couple of years now. So I was wondering if that's the current trend?

I like how he smiling :)

I once had a guy when I was 3.5 in AA county after I crushed 0 and 1 ask me how I hit the kick serve and if I could show him. I showed him the gip and he took about 15 minutes until he hit a couple decent ones.

He looked at me said. "thanks man, is there anything else"

I said "Hit about 10,000 more in 6 months and you will have it"

He pretty much looked at me liek I was speaking swahili.

So now whenever some asks me I just say practice a ton of them and they dont even ask what they should practice.

Nobody cares what the dudes wore. i just care if these chics take random dewds home based on how hard they can serve.

I just didn't understand why my serve needed so much net clearance. For me, it's either an ace or a double fault. I like to live dangerously.

i hadn't updated the weight on my drivers license for 15 years it seems. i got my old man license on friday and i wasn't completely truthful about my weight. i subtracted 15lbs and the DMV woman still laughed at me and said, "you've gained some weight, honey!" DOH!
i think my old license must of said 165 or sumn. i put down 195. doh!
    FML

i bageled a set for the first time in a loooong time. it was sweet. i just had to focus a little more on return of serves to make sure i didn't give away any free points off of some weak azz serve. i was in the zone and at one point when the dood hit a ball down the middle slightly to my backhand, i felt my own FED FEET ,as a zipped with ten little lightning steps to crush a forehand. it was awesome. after that the guy stopped playing pattycake and tried way to hard to crush his 1HBH but he kept missing. dunno why he changed his game but mentally he knew he was toast. woo woo.
i usually feel bad and cough up a game to be nice.. or just get lazy and they win a game, but i kept the hammer down until we were shaking hands at the net.

    VAMOS!

    Exactly

Sweet dude. It can be fun burying people. It was always funner on the basketball court though.

When I was in college for that one semester I had longer hair. After my last class I would go the gym to play basketball. These dudes were picking teams and they look at the white dude (me and nobody picks me).

Then one guy was like "Aiight I guess im stuck with the white boy" Being the only black (hah) guy on my high school team i was used to being the last guy picked.

Any way I beast a couple rebounds like I was playing less talented WNBA players. Get few easy easy put backs, then the dudes getting pretty pumped. Nobody asked me what my name is yet. I get a rebound kick it to the PG and start runnin. He hits me with a sweet pass but the guys goes to block so I just pull the little revers reverse layup off glass.

The dude who who picked me starts yelling. "Yea, thats what Im talking about Mankind" Everybucket I made the guy would yell mankind. i was wearing my Degenertaion X two words S*CK IT tee shirt so he just called me mankind for like three solid months of playing pickup BBall.

Apparently I looked enough like this guy to warranted being called Mankind.

Well, I got to warm up, but only because I was there at 7am. I doubt I would have played so well otherwise.

Yeah, it would have been a totally different match for us, too...B and I spent two weeks playing in the brutal conditions to have that advantage!

I heard from the Firedragon. He's being coy! But I think we'll be teammates again.

C'mon now, you gotta include Downs in that ultimatum too.

Sorry guys. I'da liked to seen a TB in that crucial first match ya'll lost, something ya'll would've had a real chance at. Damn, I shoulda found a way to send ya'll a "pie." :p

The crucial TB actually ended up in the match between the MD team and the other NOVA team. We needed them to win so we could duke it out between our teams on Sunday for first place! The last court was the last one done that day, and both NOVA teams were watching and cheering loudly! It was heart wrenching to watch...the players put everything out there though!

We had chances in our first match. Just not as easy to see on paper. Because of the rain they moved us inside and we went to no-ad. The lack of warm up and the waiting just seemed to effect my partner rather badly...and we didn't convert any of our ad points in our second set.

Eh hem...ummmm...both Downs and I will be at Sectionals! We both like 'pie'!

Actually TM has been developing a new technique to defeat his giggly/drop-lob master in his secret development lab.

I have been just practicing and try not to make a fool out of myself. I know TM will be the first to post that I got a bagel in front of his giggly friend. (at least I know I will LOL) Frankly I am just happy there isn't negative scoring in tennis (i.e. golf).

After losing my first 5 matches to submission.

I did this and got the W.

It took me about 7 minutes to finally get and I was exhausted by the end. Thank god it was my last match of the day.

    http://www.yelp.com/biz/jannat-kabob-and-pizza-washington

holy shiet.. felt like i stepped in bin laden's afghan hideout with women in full burga. wasn't sure if i had to cross a security check point when i got my bag of food and walked out nor was i sure that my bag of food wasn't gonna blow up..

on the plus side, their curry was decent.. and the wheel of lamb for the gyro was delish..

Went really well.. love the boot time.

Also, I returned my Mac Book Air and got a loaded 13" pro. I could use the extra CPU juice for mixing and real time line-in manipulation. The display is not as good but it spends a lot of time hooked up to an external monitor.. Main Stage is some of the best keyboard modeling software I've ever used and it's only $30.

Did they have Shwarmas? I wouldnt mid eating me nice Shwarma.

I went to this korean resturant the other day. Got some Chicken Bulgogi. Its wasnt quite as good as the place when I was stationed in Kunsan but it was pretty close. The fried rice was terrible though.

Next time Ill go there Ill get some yakimandu and see if it was as good as the street vendors over there.

Awesome dude. You'll never want to use another PC without an SSD...haha.

That's what I would have done...thought you had your eyes all set on the Air but the Pro is a better compromise and a better value. Just looked up Main Stage app on App Store...pretty wicked if I knew much about music production and the like! haha But yeah, today's software from smartphones to PCs are just so much better with incredible value too.
