Had fun watching tennis at the CitiOpen last night. Dolgopolov is interesting...plays ADHD tennis. He dug himself out of a hole to beat Blake, who from time to time showed flashes of his former self. Dolgo eventually destroyed him on his BH side though. Sloane Stephens lost, but man, what a forehand!!! She needs a serve, though...very erratic and lots of double faults. Rybarikova was steadier on both sides. I hope Stephens continues to work hard though...she's small, but full of potential. Vania King and Anastasia P. had a knock-em out, drag-down match...about three hours long. Pavy pulled it out, but this was the best tennis I saw last night. Creative points, good hands at net (particularly by King) and blasting power shots (mostly by Pavy). Pavy goes for it too much too soon, but wow, great shots, and she had the more dominant serve. Querry/Anderson was snooze worthy...that was sangria time. Fish/Malisse was not great tennis either, though Malisse's BH slice was nasty, and it was interesting watching what Fish would do with it...either slice it back or try to come over it with his two hander. I saw only the end of the Haas match...his match with Mardy Fish should be good.
