I am hoping my foodie buds will appreciate this short story and mini-memorial.

Last week, we buried a good friend. Hubs' best friend, actually. He was 41. Keeled over in the woods on a rare weekday-off hunting junket with his father and brother. Sux. All-around great guy, husband and father.

Over the 15 years or so that we all knew each other (the menfolk for 20+), our two families have eaten a lot of meals together, mostly the gains of their days hunting or fishing. Our friend was the cook in his family, as I am in mine and the two of us spent many happy hours over a cutting board, stew pot or grill. My venison chili recipe, perfected over many pleasurable efforts with him being my taster and kind critic, is labeled in his honor (Kruse-Approved).

So today, I embarked on making said dish with some fresh ground venison from hubs' recent success. Couple of unusual miscues: didn't have the tomato paste and mistook the cinnamon for cumin (dark kitchen, yelling children). Luckily on the spice side, I tend to load up a prep bowl with all the seasonings to add them all at once. So while I could get most of the cinnamon out, there was still some in there. I might have started all over but I know some cooks actually add cinnamon to savory dishes so I thought I'd let it ride. It really added some nice undertones....but oh how I would have loved to have our friend here...to tell me what he thought of it.

That's a sweet memory AQ. May your cooking buddy rest in peace. I'm sure he would have approved of your chili.

    Hello everyone!

I'm new to the area (Arlington) and was seeing if anyone around 4.0 would like to have a hit the next warm day? (which may be a while)

If anyone's interested just email through my profile.

    Thanks!

    Tom

Wolfpack, wolfpack, wooooowolfpack! Welcome to the TWMAC, Tom. You'll find plenty of 4.0 (and up!) play around the DC area. I'm down in Richmond so they just tolerate my presence in their little (sic) thread. We frequently ask what's for lunch/dinner/pick your meal and post food-porn pics. They are racquet hors and string fanatics. But a decent bunch.

If you happen to find yourself in the Richmond area, post out and we can arrange a hit down here too.

    The Widowmaker strikes again.

Only consolations are he passed doing something he absolutely loved with his faithful Brittany hound at his side. It was (relatively) quick and he was discovered by people who loved him but, thankfully, not his wife or two young children. In total, if he could've scripted his own end, he'd have done like that, just not at 41. But he never met a bite of food he didn't like (my chili experiments aside) and never passed up a Bud Light. So, he ate too much, drank too much, laughed too much. Way too short...but a good life.

    Coolblue123,

I strung up the Genesis Hex Comfort prototype last night. I've only bounced a few balls off on it, but my gut tells me it could give Hexy Fiber a run for the money.

awesome! let me know how it goes. If it is as comfy and under $8. I'll be all over it like a cheap suit. The string is called Genesis Hexonics, right? what gauge are you using?

Hexy is good stuff but it loses tension and like Yonex 850, once that outer coating breaks, next hit on that spot is a goner.

But I love the spin, $$$, and feel off of that string but it does have a slight catapult effect. I just hybrided it with RIP and this combo is really nice. Even keeps tension stable and strings move alot less. I am on my second set of this combo right now.

btw, what happened to them strings you created? I didn't hear anything back from you.

*sigh* gosh I still miss my Pro Supex FT Ruff 17g's. why oh why do companies discontinue strings that plays so well. It was such a crispy string. Probably cuz it breaks really fast. I have 2 sets of it left and refuse to use it.

No, this is a prototype string. The name on the package was Hex-Comfort. Did you believe I created my own multi or are you kidding? That was last year's April Fools joke.

    *yawn* merry kwanzaa everybody.

sorry to hear about your friend AQ. 41 is too young. i wanna make it to 60 and then die peacefully in my sleep behind the wheel of a semitruck as it barrels into the westboro baptist church.

anyone playing any tennis? i haven't hit in a week or so and i think i'm getting the shakes.

what's for lunch? i made some really good (by my terrible cooking skill standards) chili last night. the only problem is i didn't follow any recipe so i'll never be able to recreate this. it's a lot like my groundstrokes in tennis.

They are getting feedback on it this year. I suppose if they get enough positive feedback they will add it to their lineup.

played with vcore89 demo. feels like the vcore95d to me... its feels really solid but i think my wrist is too jacked to be able to hit forehands properly with it. i can tell it could be awesome but im gonna stick with the igSpeeds. (although i might give the blxproOs another chance on the clay if i go to Flo-Rida this winter)

maybe ill get an rdis100 mid used on the bay to satisfy my YY cravings.. or just forget about them. dunno.
peace to all.. and to all a good night. l8rz

This is how I make chili to TMonk! An adventure every time! And AQ, I put Cinnamon in my chili often. It can turn a bad experiment into a bad Cincinnati style experiment :)

Dats return to south Florida. I found a better wing place IMO but the view isn't as good.

Tmonk, I make chili and all recipes by the book. When it comes to cooking I try not to let me imagination interfere.

    Nitefly, I miss hockey.

Jrs, tell conejo that south Florida is nice especially this time of year. Flip flop and jean weather - to Jrk fright.

Topaz, congrats again on bump. Can you share your oatmeal raisin cookie recipe --the ones you brought during your 'bag check' video.

Paulman, have you visited the regal begal yet aka lakeside inn? Tell the bartender billy I said hello. You know you drink or tip a lot when your old bartender still sends you texts to see how you're doing. Good guy.

Downs, where's my beer darn it.

Redskin fans, I'm having a hard time cheering for rg3 if he keeps getting fined for wearing Adidas. I would post a pick of him limping off field but... Have a feeling the last game of year vs Dallas will be the tiebreaker.

I have zero racquets. I don't own one. may start hitting again after the New Year. Think new aero pro or steam 99s.

P.s. whose thinking of traveling for the next Sony Ericsson ?

sup, i think i might be in FL somewhere around 1/14. dunno yet. aussie open is starting then though but i think that is my only chance in january.
    better wing place.. no way!
i haven't really missed NHL... although the playoffs are always nice. half a season would be fine.
RGthrizzle rulez!!! i messed up my knee like that before... no way he's 100% yet. go Kirk Cousins! that last game of the season is going to be e.p.i.c!!!

LOL. I'll never forget the first time my Dayton,OH-based bro walked me into a Skyline and I took a look at the menu. 2-way, 3-way, 4-way. Upside down? WTF?

Sounded like a bad porno flick to me. :p

But hey, even like bad p-...there's always something to like about it.

I'll let him know, but I have seen the Conejo much lately. Ran into Bruce "Q" Willis at my tennis clinic.

Can't hate RGIII for the adidas. He's getting paid. Heck, I bet Adidas pays his fines.

    No sticks??? WTF???

I'll be in Miami in spirit, still wish I could make another run down there. Didn't get to hit with Drak and crew last time.

No worries CB, I was off on crying baby duty myself soon after. I don't know WTF is going on post patch but my KD has seriously dropped from a really mediocre 1.0 into negative noob territory. Might be time to finish single player and move on the Far Cry 3.

BTW- Cnet has an offer on free DVD ripper software http://news.cnet.com/8301-13845_3-5...er-and-ringtone-maker/?tag=nl.e796&s_cid=e796

I take that back. It's 58 degrees here. I'm trying to find out if palm leaves burn. Brrrrr.

Also found out that federer is skipping Miami.

    Dats,

This is the place. http://brusroom.com/ . No worries I'm sure you'll have another sauce goatee.

I played a guy who had about 6 different yonex sticks in his bag, each one was for a certain shot. Too bad he could never all the best shots into a single stick.

my buddy picked up one of those new yonex vcore xi 98 from tenniswarehouse europe. says it's a more comfortable version of his vcore 98's. also said they had a slightly higher swingweight which translated to more power but not as whippy feeling.

i played a guy who liked one stick for his service games and another for his return games. headlight k90 for his service games where he'd like to rush the net as often as possible. for his return games he'd switch to a POG and play counterpuncher/retriever.

auzzie - i'm still loving my donnays but i think they are connected to the old donnays in name only. still good sticks though.

    what's for lunch people?

No, I'm going to demo them once the 310 is released in the US. But after the way I played yesterday, it would have to work some serious magic to get me to change from the Pacifics.

Do me a favor: swing by my house & pickup my winter jacket. Damn its cold down here...

Actually, it is real nice from 10-5, but it has been in the upper 30s, lower 40s in the morning, and once that sun goes down, it cools off quick.

    aaargh i hate demo agony.
my blxpro's are currently too powerful (although they have ooooold poly in them) and 1/2 grip size too small. but the feel is very SOLID and i can put mega spin on the ball and hit a pretty sweet 115mph 2nd serve in the corner of the box. if i restrung and added another overgrip i think i could turn my viktorr into IGORRRR andreev style game. i would probably crush auzzie with the right setup on this stick. 1st serve 110 but middle of box.
the 89tour has amazing feel and i can hit a dime on the court when my 2.5 level dad hits me the ball. my form would probably break down if playing 3.0 auzzie though. backhands are nalbandianesque.. just so sweet.serving is also weird... the weight seems to bring out the ol twisted wrister.. but if i get it right.. it certainly produces a HEAVY ball but still it is 100mph 2nd serve. 1st serve 95mph but right on the T.
the igspeed feels so tinny but i can hit 120mph 2nd serve in the corner. i can stay in long rallies with it although i rarely seem to feel confident to smack a winner. backhands are spinny but seem to come through the hitting zone too quickly so i slow my swing down and just kind of bunt it. 1st serve 110 but jams sappy every time!

its pretty close even in my bizarre math test but i think the BLXPRO might hold up best in competition.

    YY89tour = FEEL & BACKHAND & WRIST PAIN
    IGSPEED = CONTROL & SPIN & TINNY
    BLXPRO = POWER & SPIN & SOLID

i dunno. maybe time to take up racquetball. MERRY HOLIDAY EVENTS FOR U GUYZEZ.
maybe i put them all up on craigs for 70bucks each and play with what doesn't sell.
